And I hope you are thanking your lucky stars right now that you met each and every one of these people who have been so kind to you in this thread. They're helping you. Just because you're gay, and a human. Despite the fact that you have previously been both a raging a-hole (haven't we all? well, okay, not all) and also that you support, or have supported, or whichever you decide, everything that goes against their basic rights as humans. Heck, I'm grateful to them for you.

Strand is right, you should actually try to cultivate the mindset that you do not need anyone else's approval. Everyone should, but especially since you are gay, and apparently everyone you know will be against that, I suggest you take that advice to heart and soul.
