Another one

All I can tell from these snippets is we are getting some jangly songs. They are not snippeting any ballads.

Stevie talks about the vaults in this clip from an interview at the Hamptons International Film Festival, in 2012.
"The cassettes -- because I have an amazing assistant, and my girl singers, also, have been with me since 1979 -- so between those three, they really keep all those cassettes very organized. So we have vaults in Phoenix, where, because I lived there -- I had a house there until a couple years ago when I sold it -- but I still have all my storage there in Phoenix with, you know, a lot of my great stuff. And all the songs. Then we also have drawers of them here -- I mean, not here, but in Los Angeles. And they are all labelled. So we know where to go when we're looking -- you know, like with 'Annabel Lee.' We found that in the demos." |
It sounds like she is singing the words 'frozen love' before turning to the camera but can't tell for sure...

Post by Dave Stewart. |
When Stevie first spoke about her new album, she noted that she recorded 17 or 18 of the 25 songs she brought to Nashville. So based on Dave's most recent tweet, it sounds like either Stevie had a poor recollection of how many songs they actually recorded, or they ultimately decided to mix and master only 16 songs, even though they recorded more. Which would be a shame.
Separately, here's a 2011 interview where Stevie talks about her song vault. http://www.more.com/stevie-nicks MORE: In an interview I did with you previously, you said that you saved all your old tapes from when you were writing or working on songs. Stevie Nicks: I do. Two songs for this record were pulled right off of old cassettes. "Annabelle Lee" was pulled off of a demo I did in about 1995, and "Secret Love"--the single--was pulled from a demo from a cassette that I wrote in 1976. More: You must be really organized to be able to find that. SN: I'm not, but the people who have worked for me have been very organized. I bought a house in Phoenix in 1978 and from 1978 on, we have what we call "The Song Vault.” It’s a storage unit that's temperature controlled, and it's several big armoires that are shelf after shelf after shelf of everything from collections of tapes that I used to make-- that people make now for their iPods—to collections that I play when I'm on the road, starting when I first joined Fleetwood Mac. So I have all the old collections of whatever songs were hits at the time, and then there's just everything else I liked. |
Can anyone else hear these lyrics?
I think I hear - I would follow you anywhere I don't care What would life be without you? |

I could be wildly speculating here - but it feels like to me this is a new section she may have written of "This is My Cross to Bare"
Stevie says twice in the video "I didn't care" and "I don't care" - there's a lot of "care" in the demo - maybe she rewrote it? This Is My Cross to Bare (Jam Session ) I know your hope is gone away, All I know is a rainy day Baby come and fly(?) away, I know you've got something on your back This is my cross to bare, This is my cross to bare, I know your hope is gone away, Died off….died away. Well you can go and chatter(?) all day, 'Cause you've got something on him, Oh yeah… This is my cross to bare…..bare, This is my cross to bare, Oh baby, Everyone is gone away Very gone, Everyone is gone, This is my cross to bare, Oh baby This is my cross to bare, This is my cross to bare, This is my cross to bare When you just don't care, This is my cross to bare, I know this girl is always sad, I can't sleep cause you can't hide But I know if you look inside, You will find everything is alright Yeah… This is my cross to bare, This is my cross to bare, This is my cross to bare, Everything is alright baby, At least somebody cares, Even though you don't…. That's right… This is my cross to bare, When you just don't care, You don't know me right, You told me it would be alright You know that? You don't know me no more. At least somebody cares… And you know you're on your own.. ..to carry it all. At least somebody cares.. This is my cross to bare… This is alright….this is alright… At least somebody cares… At least somebody cares… This is my cross to bare.. At least somebody cares… At least somebody cares… At least somebody cares… At least somebody cares… Oh yeah…. |

Wow I thought I had heard everything that was out there at some point and don't recognize that last one at all...It does sound like a pretty good rocker though.

I'm really liking the sound of the (albeit brief) clips we've heard so far. Stevie sounds in great voice, and I happen to enjoy the jangly sound some people are complaining about.
On this latest mystery clip, I hear: I would follow you anywhere What would my life be without you in it Jealous, broken, stars done shining (??) I don't care I have no clue what song it is based on this little snippet…. |
I'm also kinda hearing "jealous, broken, lies unsilenced." or "tell us broken lies unsilenced"
|

and "jealous, broken *something something*" {ETA: glad to see i'm probably not hearing things  no idea what song that fits tho} |
IMO the vocals on these snippets so far sound stellar..We can say what we want about some of Dave's production choices but he has managed to coax the best vocals out of her on record in decades.
|
“We found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever… and we went to Nashville (and recorded them),” Nicks told the Associated Press. “So they’re like all starting from like 1969 maybe? I call them my 24 Karat Gold songs.”
Perhaps this new song clip that we don't recognize is something from back in 1969? Something that was never "picked up or loaned out or whatever?" ;) |

It sounds like she is finally letting loose a little bit with the vocals on this record. I loved IYD but the vocals were very controlled, she didn't let it rip too often. Passion!

I love this stuff so far. |
The music sounds a little like the demo One More Tomorrow, but the lyrics are totally different....
