I agree. The first time I heard that 15 years ago I thought it was barfy. I liked the Dixie Chicks version WAY better. I actually think I like their execution of it better than the original 1975 White Album recording. I've always found that one very sterile and lifeless... :sorry:

Oh, I hate the Smashing Pumpkins Landslide, it's just awful. I love the Dixie Chicks version though! Not, however, the Sheryl Crow remix of it that is also on the Home album. That sucks.

I agree with you guys. I also got a thrill from hearing Nicks and the Chicks singing it together! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV-Kp5Qqz78

Thanks, GDO!

GoldDustOrphan 08-08-2009 05:44 AM

Anytime.

I haven't cleaned up the audio yet, but I will and repost. The mp3 sounds fine as it is, but I think I can reduce some of the ambient noise at the beginning of the file. I need to do the same for Stevie's duet of Red River Valley from the Chris Isaak show.

this is a fan video and it's a bit rough in places, but the crowd enthusiasm is undeniable esp around 3:15, where everyone is singing.I hope Christine takes heart in hearng everybody and knowing that after so many years (what is it like 20??) everybody still know the words.

On a similar note, I recently heard Landslide by Smashing Pumpkins for the first time, too....and I thought it was horrible. Go figure.

I agree...... HATE it!! The Smashing Pumpkins doing Landslide that is......

I love the idea of muscling up "Little Lies." It shows what a really good song it is, that it stands up to such a different interpretation than the original.

I absolutely love this performance until the two male divas show up halfway through the song. Introducing them really breaks the momentum of the song, and then their short little vocals are both horrible.

I'd like to see this band perform the song without those two ... that would be great.

wildheart048 08-09-2009 07:30 AM

You ALWAYS have the coolest unusual posts! I'm always thrilled when you post something...

Speaking of RRV, do you happen to have the 'It's Late' from the same show? I love the way they did it and would love to add THAT audio to my ipod...

Carolynne Good - Little Lies

The threads about David Cook's version of Little Lies reminded me of a cover that was done an a UK televsion talent show from a few years ago. It was called Fame Academy and is now (thankfully) long gone but check this out, especially the last 40 seconds or so when she does something a bit different....Stick with it...

Note: Ignore the stupid Stevie-like costuming and the backing track and just concentrate on her voice. The dumbass producers clearly didn't bother to check that it's a Chris song and in fact one of the judges actually referred to it in his comments as a Stevie Nicks song (Carolynne corrected him - good on her!)

I quite like this, see what you think. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znKjPzVqxLU

Gailh 08-12-2009 12:59 PM

That wasn't too bad. Obviously not as good as the original but a good effort

I quite like the Ari Hest version - he gives it a slow gentle treatment.

I'm reminded of that joke from Statler & Waldorf (the Muppets)...

Ahh I liked that last number.

Oh yeah, why?

'Cause it was the last one.

*laughter*

Anna Ternheim - Little Lies

This might be the best Fleetwood Mac cover I've ever heard.

Blueletter18 10-31-2011 07:26 PM

That was reallly a great interpretation of the song! I love the harmonica.

WildHearted 10-31-2011 07:42 PM

Wow, that's fabulous.

Blueletter18 10-31-2011 07:50 PM

YOU should do a Little Lies cover, WildHearted! I'm sure it would be amazing as well!

Maybe I will one of these days!

But I can't compete with that. That was superb, and very inventive.

bombaysaffires 10-31-2011 09:07 PM

This is one of my favorite FM covers... not just a retread but a new interpretation... a sadder version than Christine's which is a lot more upbeat, but the lyrics lend themselves to it nicely.

APerfectLie 11-10-2011 04:58 PM

I love it! But I still think Ari Hest did the best cover of not only Little Lies, but of any Fleetwood Mac song ever.

bombaysaffires 11-17-2011 07:28 PM

wow that was really good APerfectLie... thanks for sharing! I've never come across that version before. :woohoo:

Christine Little Lies cover

With all the Christine love going around I thought I would post this amazing cover of Little Lies by Anna Ternheim:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-3qOkEtml8

I think I've posted it before - but it deserves to be heard. Again.

bethelblues 05-09-2013 11:34 PM

Ok, I only just saw this and Little Lies is one of my favorite all-time Fleetwood Mac songs. You've probably seen it before but you might appreciate it: this is Anna Ternheim's live version, which I like better since the chorus includes background singers, giving it a much fuller sound.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2uy4ipoWek

This is a version of Little Lies that I actually think Buckingham Nicks could pull off. If they slow it down and do a bare-bones rendition with Stevie singing lead, it could be a lot of fun. And this was the biggest hit from Tango in the Night. It's never been performed with Lindsey, and hasn't been performed period since 1990 (though they did rehearse it for The Dance). If it came back in any form it would be a special treat.

Edit: Also here's a piano cover of Little Lies I think is pretty good. Definitely worth checking out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq6uFsbrqVA

bethelblues 05-09-2013 11:37 PM

I agree. So many other covers of this song also ditch the electronics, but they absolutely miss the meaning at its core. I think Anna captures what Christine intended when she wrote the song.

Jondalar 05-10-2013 12:11 AM

Love this cover! Thank you.

For me, this cover sapped all the mystique out of the song.

[From a review of Passion Pit's Kindred in the Boston Herald] by Jed Gottlieb

http://www.bostonherald.com/entertai...on_pit_kindred

Bonus points for the reference to Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies” in “Whole Life Story.” I’m not sure if the keyboard riff is meant to echo the Mac jam, but it reminds us that perfect pop and emotional trauma have a rich history side by side.

Artemis 04-24-2015 11:19 AM

For me, this will always be the best cover of Little Lies - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QARuyU1adK8 I love the asian twist. For me, Little Lies is a hard song to cover. So much of it's appeal is due to the Christine / Stevie / Lindsey c-c-c-combo.

Superfly - a great Jrock band - do a phenomenal cover of Rhiannon too. I just can't find it on youtube. Again, I just love that asian fusion.

olive 04-24-2015 11:29 AM

it's another Christine Cover ,since she been all over for her sloppy performance on Letterman

I actually like this version. I love it when bands "muscle up" Christine's songs.

No version will ever top the original.

The mere suggestion of Stevie singing lead on this quintessential Christine song makes me want to cry. What a horrible, horrible idea.

Have to disagree- I think its really disappointing the Lindsey/Stevie/Mick/John band never really played any Christine material. I would have loved to have heard them play tribute to their (then) former band mate with one of her big hits. I think it would have been a great idea.

You're right- Unleashed.
Nothing for 'Say You Will' or 'Live' tours though (I wouldn't count World Turning or Don't Stop).
