the problem is that we are now very unsure whether we can trust ANYTHING written in that "article". |
I actually think most of the sturm und drang comes from fans rather than the group itself.
It's not at all surprising that Nicks mentions doing a few solo projects prior to the new Mac album coming out. It's in line with Buckingham's comments that the new album may take awhile to finish, and with Nicks's previous comments about wanting to release an expanded version of 24 Karat Gold. The major news is that Nicks is now saying there will be a new Mac album, something she wasn't saying before. |

all three of them were very clear since the beginning of 2014 that everyone in FM except Stevie wants that new FM album, that they've been already working on bunch of new songs with at least 7 finished, that they are really hoping that Stevie will get on board, but that they will find other options to get their new material out if she's not on board, and that they are frustrated with not knowing what is next for FM and not being able to make any other plans because they keep waiting for Stevie to make up her mind one way or another. so if this piece of news is true, and if Stevie has finally come to a decision to join the FM album, that must be a huge relief for the rest of the band, so they can finally make some plans. and yes, probably since the early 80s this has been how FM operates, we just didn't know all this since there was no social media, and maybe Mick and Lindsey were not as open to talking to fans as they are these days. that doesn't mean these people don't get fed up with the same ole inefficient way of operating, as they are getting older and the time is running out. |
What an absolutely crap piece of journalism this is. Regarding the update- I assume this is extra information the writer happens to 'remember' from the original meeting as opposed to 'new' information that subsequently came through to him. My next query is- Mick will be working on a 'Fleetwood Mac project of some kind' or has he got that wrong too? Will it in fact turn out to be a 'Mick Fleetwood project'?

i really hope you are right and this will be some Mick Fleetwood project, not that FM will be slaving away in the studio the whole year waiting for SN to join, kinda like they did according to Destiny Rules doc for SYW. i want Lindsey to have the first part of the year for his solo projects. i want him to put some of that treasure trove of new music he has been recording since 2012 out as another solo album, and i want a solo tour in 2016. last time we saw him solo on tour was 2012 - way too long for my taste! i'm sure he conveniently forgot by now that he promised a "request" solo tour. :p  |

But the tension is real, and exists to this day. It's why they only made five studio albums. Live albums, compilations, solo albums, with band members coming and going and coming back filled the large spaces in between. The drama is inherent in their DNA, beginning when Peter Green dramatically left the band. With this massive world tour, they are back on the radar on a large scale. There is no need for deliberate tactics to garner the attention of the press. |

right now, things are good. at least we know we will get to hear some of the material they recorded 2012-2014. and 2017 sounds the most realistic for the new album to come out right now. which is better than nothing, and better than band members sitting around waiting. |

I'd rather she get her ass in the studio with Fleetwood Mac to record that album ASAP. |
I wouldn't mind a repackaging of Vault 1 as long as some tracks were re-recorded/remixed and of course, Vault 2 was included.

Stevie had a lacklustre response for 24KG, even though it hit #7, so surely she realises that whatever she follows it up with won't be greeted with huge success.
A new Mac album, the first since 2003 and the first with all five since 1987 WILL do incredibly well and I just can't bloody wait for that day to come. Surely if it does come it will be one of the most anticipated albums of all time? |

i don't think Mick and Lindsey, at least, expect the new album to be any kind of commercial success. |

I wouldn't mind a repackaging of 24K with a new, proper remastering! There are weird things going on with the final mix of that album. She could pair it with a second disc of live recordings from the Fillmore or Wiltern Shows!

It's bad enough we're not getting new Mac music any time soon, for her to delay a FM album for a retread would be an even greater sin. :distress: |

The idea of a FM album/"project" without Stevie sounds incredibly ominous but I am glad to hear she has officially committed to another album! I would welcome SFTV 2 and a small Stevie tour in the interim before the next FM album!! I love that people are always asking about Buckingham Nicks. Maybe all this pestering will get them to actually release it! Stevie and FM both should hire Dave Stewart to promote their album, IMHO. From what I hear, a lot of the successful 24KG promotion (i.e. Stevie's photo exhibit) were his ideas. Slight tangent, but I wish the band/Stevie would stop using exclusively morning TV to try to get the word out. They say the same thing on every show and I of course speak for myself here, but I don't know anyone who watches morning shows. The only time I watch is if the show has posted a clip of someone I like on Youtube. I think they'd be better off with late night appearances or high-profile cameos in other mediums if they want new fans. I'm in my twenties and I discovered the band a few years ago through Stevie's American Horror Story appearance. My dad was a fan and had some of their old albums but buying new music is the last thing on his mind. Stevie seems to be the only one willing to advertise to younger generations, but truly, people my age will buy good music. They just have to find out about it somehow and decide it's worth buying. |
She disappoints yet again. She's done enough solo projects lately.

2 solo albums since 2011. 1 FM studio album since 2004. It's hard for me to even like her anymore.

That's harsh. People have to follow their own path in life. We each have our own route to happiness, and sometimes those paths cross, and sometimes they don't. Think of the albums that might have been between 1987 and 1997, had Lindsey not walked out completely. But again, we have to follow our own paths. No one else is going to put you first, but you. |

The difference between Stevie now and Lindsey and Christine before is timing and age. They had time to leave and come back then. Christine couldn't take 16 years off now. She'd be, what, 89? Lindsey, too, would be quite old in 10 years. Late 70s. The band doesn't have all that time to waste anymore. Stevie also took a break from the band in the 90s too. Stevie can keep going as long as she wants to, she's in control of his solo career, after all. The band will not go on indefinitely and probably has only a short time remaining as there are 5 people that need to come together for it to work and they're all getting up there in age. So, as far as the band is concerned, Stevie just isn't afforded the opportunity to take an extended break anymore and expect everything to just pick back up later.

And this is why I'm here.
http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...psesgdet0p.jpg The deluxe edition is as annoying as the original double album package. It's impossible to handle it without 5 things falling onto the floor. Michele |
