My love for John only grows and I love it that everyone wants to sit next to him on the plane.
Thank you, Nicole. |

"rehearsed" is very different from "hard-won" and "paper-thin". rehearsed implies faking it and putting up the front behind which you are hiding your real feelings. hard-won implies having to work against your first or more base instincts and actually changing yourself to be more serene person and to try having both inner peace and more positive outlook. he is definitely latter, not former. |

unfortunately. but it's refreshing they are finally telling us what's been going on behind the scenes for a year plus now. they were not just "tired" and "caught in the bad moment" for these interviews. if you've been to Mick's m&g or talked to Lindsey in the last 9 months, you know all this has been going on since the start of the tour. it's just that now they apparently gave each other green light to say it, instead of covering it as they did in the interviews they gave throughout the last year. but none of what they said it's new and true just in the moment of the interview. so hey - maybe they already have different options and next steps worked out that they are not telling us about just yet? ;) |
Lindsey Buckingham: Fleetwood Mac’s “Transcendent” New LP
part of the interview mojo made available online today and is making social media rounds, as a teaser:
http://www.mojo4music.com/20368/mojo...ey-buckingham/ Lindsey Buckingham: Fleetwood Mac’s “Transcendent” New LP All five members of Fleetwood Mac in the new edition of MOJO (July 2015/ #260), out now in the UK. By MOJO STAFF MAY 26, 2015 Fleetwood-2014-770 ALTHOUGH FLEETWOOD MAC are working on songs for a new album, this record could be as a complicated to make relationship-wise as some of their classics, Lindsey Buckingham hinted has to MOJO. MOJO260_FleetwoodMac_770 A classic shot of Fleetwood Mac on the cover of MOJO 260, on sale in the UK from Tuesday, May 26. With all five members of the current line-up speaking in individual, extensive interviews in the new edition of MOJO (July 2015/ #260), out now in the UK, the guitarist says he’s working on material with Christine McVie, who recently re-joined the band, but fellow singer – and former partner – Stevie Nicks is not so keen to collaborate again. “Christine had some rough ideas for new songs, and was very interested in me hearing them and taking them to a more recordable level,” he explains. “And I had a bunch of stuff that was just tracks with suggested melodies and we exchanged ideas and the synergy was immediate – and transcendent, in my opinion.” “I don’t know whether or not Stevie Nicks will come to the table for an album.” LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM However Nicks is less on board, at the moment, Buckingham tells MOJO’s Jim Irvin. “I think Stevie’s a little torn. It has a lot to do with her life in general and trying to figure out what means something to her,” suggests the guitarist. “I don’t know whether or not she’ll come to the table for an album. I hope she does… I think it scares her a little.” Get MOJO now for the full interview with Buckingham, individual Q&As with John McVie, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood, plus free 15-track CD The Roots Of Fleetwood Mac. |

Stevie: “They’re good. Lindsey’s finished a record that is, I think, amazing. I think it’s the best thing that he’s ever done. And it’s so interesting because last November when he came up to work on ‘Soldier’s Angel ’- which is the last thing that we really did - we played him my record, and he played the Dave and Stevie world and Glen Ballard his record. So we listened to both records in a row. At the end, Lindsey was sitting on one side of me, I was in the middle and Glen was here, and Dave was walking around with his guitar around his neck. And Glen just jumped up and said, "Oh my god, you guys are on fire! You have both made an amazing record in the same year!” Of course, I’m going like “Please god, let me love this record.” Because I’m sitting here next to Lindsey, he knows me so well.. if I don’t love this record, I’m gonna go like “Well, I…” you know? And I swear to god I think that Lindsey like swallowed some melody pills and some lyrical pills, because all of a sudden along with his amazing bombastic guitar that he plays are these really beautiful words and beautiful melodies. I’m so very proud of him. So the Fleetwood Mac gang is fine. John’s in Honolulu, Micks’ in Maui . Lindsey here, getting ready to release this record and working on it. So you know, it’s good. “ |

my point earlier was just that neither writer said his "serenity" is rehearsed, just that some of his responses seem to be prepared and well rehearsed (which we know they are!). i don't think rehearsing his press statements keeps him serene, positive, and level-headed ;) (well maybe makes him appear level-headed :p). therapy, yoga, stable life, physical activities, less focus on work, etc are probably much more bases of his positive attitude and "serenity" these days. |

And then when he adds, "If you would trust me to do that for you, it would make me very happy," he's making it too much about him. Stevie is probably worried that even if he's happy with the result, she may not be (like with SYW). She has a right to have her songs sound the way she wants them to, but it sounds like Lindsey wants ultimate control, so it's easy to see how that could lead to drama in the studio. |
I think it's interesting Christine made a point to bring up Bob Welch, his profound effect on her musical style, and the tragedy of his death. I wonder what part his death might have had on her return to the band?
I also love the fact Chris totally shuts down the interviewer about Stevie & Lindsey collaborating musically, and totally calls them out for not even being friendly in a personal way. She's certainly cut through the BS those two have been feeding to the press since 1997. And it turns out the house John bought in LA a while back was actually for his daughter. His comment about rearranging his priorities towards his wife & daughter was an unexpected one- he has long seemed to me to be the quiet family man of the band. John's comment on not wanting to go on much longer really makes me anxious. But then again, he says in the next breath that he'll still be going at 75+ if there is demand. I suppose he always has been a quiet study in contrasts. |
I like how Christine says that people call her The Earth Mother, but denies having been more grounded and says she was crazy too, right along with them.

Mick Fleetwood Imagines What Might Have Been With Original Fleetwood Mac Guitarist Peter Green
By Jeff Giles May 29, 2015 10:15 AM They’ve gone on to far greater success in the years since releasing their first few albums, but for some Fleetwood Mac fans, there’s really never been any substitute for the band’s original lineup — and drummer Mick Fleetwood understands why. Fleetwood and the rest of the band sat for individual interviews in the new issue of Mojo, and when confronted with the subject of co-founder and original guitarist Peter Green — who left the lineup in 1970 and entered a long period of illness and seclusion — Fleetwood was unequivocal in his belief that the first version of the group had unfinished business when Green departed. “I think it would have been really profound,” he mused when asked what might have been if Green had been able to stick around. “I have no doubt what was missed. I think we would have had a place sort of like Led Zeppelin in America. The creativity was on a par with where they took themselves. That’s what I think would have happened. I think we would have had a really, really elastic musical trip. Experimenting with sounds and styles and orchestras.” That being said, the current Fleetwood Mac lineup has had a pretty incredible trip of its own, and as far as Fleetwood’s concerned, it’ll be the last version of the band. “This is it, to me,” he stated emphatically. “Emotionally, if you think of the enormity of what has happened, the surprise of what has happened, the doors that have opened to be walked through … If you were writing a book, you’d go, ‘Isn’t it a shame I can’t end it like this?’ We’ve had the chance to end it like that and I wouldn’t dream of it any other way.” Read More: Mick Fleetwood Imagines What Might Have Been With Original Fleetwood Mac Guitarist Peter Green | http://ultimateclassicrock.com/origi...ckback=tsmclip |
...a bit behind the times; I've only just picked up a copy of Mojo.

I really hope this is to keep the drama of the band alive. Stevie should look at the sales of her last few solo releases. Girl, you better get on board for this Fleetwood Mac album. All 5 of them or no FM album at all I say. |

[This is just quotes from the interview, also quotes from what Richard said about Biddy. Hey, click on to see Mick's jacket.]
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/...d-walk-9358479 Rock legend Mick Fleetwood to walk Hadrian's Wall in memory of his mum Biddy 10:00, 30 May 2015 By Michael Brown Chronicle Live The rock legend lost mum Biddy at the age of 98 in January, and has revealed plans to walk the North landmark in her honour Rock superstar Mick Fleetwood has revealed plans to walk Hadrian’s Wall in memory of his mother Biddy. The 67-year-old, who has just begun an international tour with the rest of Fleetwood Mac’s classic line up of John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, lost the 98-year-old in January. And Rumours has it that the star, unless he’s telling Little Lies, will be visiting one of the region’s Seven Wonders. The trek would take place after the band completes its On With The Show tour, with the final date fixed for October 30 in Australia. Richard Dashut, who co produced the band’s 40 million selling album Rumours, posted a tribute to Mick’s mother on his Truth and Consequences blog in January. He said: “RIP Bridget Maureen Fleetwood (Biddy) “If you want to know the origins to the character of Fleetwood Mac, you need look no further than Mick’s Mum for that answer. From all of the Punters on this blog and myself at the head of that list, we salute the life of one of the most extraordinary women to ever walk the face of this planet. “This is not Biddy’s world anymore, but heaven has a new Mum and we still have Fleetwood Mac! Biddy, may you rest in the eternal peace of death, you have earned in life and I shall carry your memory in my back pocket, for the rest of my days.” Mick spoke about walking Hadrian’s Wall in an interview with a national newspaper. And while the band’s 1970s heyday - and the drink and drug issues that came with it - may be a distant memory, the discord in the group remains, with band members Buckingham and Nicks revealing in the interview that they did not know whether they would all be involved in the group’s mooted new album. “We had planned on reconvening at the start of next year, but, again, there is the politics,” said Lindsey. “Stevie has not involved herself in it, and has not committed to involving herself in it either, so that’s something we’re working on.” Nicks, 67, meanwhile says she is tired after years of touring that has taken in more than 80 dates in the USA, will see around 27 in Europe, and then more in Australia. “Three solid years of Fleetwood Mac. When that’s done, I’m done. I’m done. I’m taking a long vacation,” she said. “I’ve bought a little house on the other side of Malibu, I’ve owned it since March last year and I have three chairs in the living room, and that’s it. “I’ve spent five days there in a year. People keep saying, ‘How’s the new house?’ I don’t know, I haven’t been there. I need a break.” Fleetwood Mac are set to play dates in London, Dublin, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow as part of their latest tour. For more information visit www.fleetwoodmac.com |
Next album should titled: Buckingham Mc Vie
I think she's scared she won't measure up to the magic of the other two. Especially of what they are capable of creating together. (Tango) Tired of the SN BS, screw her and the fairy she rode in on. |
So I wonder what the deal with walking Hadrian's Wall is? I've just read a little bit about it- interesting history for sure. But how does it connect to Mick's Mother?
|
the simplest thing in the world for "these five people" to do.. is ask Stevie for 5 new songs... book a studio in Hawaii, and have it ready when she's comfortable to come in and sing.. The politics of FM with 5 different managers is poison!!!!

But perhaps she feels a bit jealous of the new-found camaraderie between Lindsey and Christine. It might manifest into a "me against them" attitude, with her casting herself as the suffering oppressed artist and outcast. Your Tango reference is so acute. At this latter stage in her long history with the band, she still holds grudges like a badge of honor, while everyone else has moved on. Sure, Lindsey is a self-absorbed, obsessive egotist, yet he seems to be more aware of his issues, and thus, is a little more objective and negotiable. We can only speculate what Stevie decision is going to make. I hope she takes off her crown and gives Fleetwood Mac a proper send off by making one last album with them. This arduous demanding two year tour, while amazing millions of fans across the world, is taking a toll on the band. It's an event that will eventually recede itself into the ether of history and memory. I hope it doesn't sacrifice the possibility for one last album of new music to cap off their long legendary musical rein. Stevie might not give us the answer or closure that we want from her. Oh Well! Let the band play on one last time, Buckingham McVie style. Wait a few years for Stevie to complain and regret why she wasn't involved, finding something or someone to blame, all the while justifying her decision. |

I don't mean to argue with you, but that is sooooo classic passive-aggressive... play the good guy to public, but not let go of controlling tendencies.... that whole thing of not giving CLA his demos.... what was that about..?? not like he was going to SELL them to highest bidder. just a way to play "victim" while staying in control, to not let Stevie's mixer do his thing on the songs. |
Quote:
She'd be terribly hard to work with. I'd hand Lindsey a guitar to throw at her. If I have to read or watch one more interview with her, the Ledge is going to have to come up with a new emoticon. One with a gun pointing at my head. |
Quote:
If you were going to pick a Lindsey "moment" from DR I'd say the moment when he says to Mick maybe I'll take my songs and go elsewhere if I don't like where you guys want things to go.... "after all, I own the masters". Kapow! Or, "I am producing and engineering this whole thing and I'm here every day from 10-7" when talking to Stevie, the implication being that no one else is working as hard as he is on the album. And we don't know what he said during the big blowup over the track listing ... but by all accounts it was harsh... and it seems like Stevie's camp responded in kind and played hardball. His claim in DR that it was ultimately his call to make it a single album is a bit of revisionist history, because Stevie's people didn't leave him much choice. I think often he's actually trying hard to be diplomatic about Stevie and band politics and all that in most interviews. I do however think that Stevie knows her power in the band is greater now than it's ever been and she/her people are gonna leverage that as much as possible. Does she have reason to hold a grudge with LB? Maybe so. Does it suck that they still can't get their sh&t together? Totally. |
well to revisit that documentary, they were harsh to her from the get-go.. when she said I wrote these songs thinking of FM, and Mick told her.. we don't want to sound like FM... they do still seem dismissive of her
