Although managers, agents and promoters freaked out after the summer of 2010, when acts from Rihanna to the Jonas Brothers priced their tickets too high and wound up canceling shows due to low attendance, the concert business seems to have taken control of the problem. The U.S. economy is still recovering from a recession, but touring artists, for the most part, have kept costs reasonable. Country stars were especially cost-conscious – Kenny Chesney (Number Three) grossed $91 million with tickets averaging $77, Jason Aldean (Number 11) had $51 million with $48 tickets and Luke Bryan (Number 15) hit more than $44 million with super-cheap tickets averaging less than $40.

The rest of the Top 10 includes: Beyonce ($76 million gross, $119 average tickets), Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake ($69 million, $111, just 14 shows), Fleetwood Mac ($67 million, $111), Pink ($63 million, $82), the Eagles ($60 million, $127) and Justin Bieber ($56 million, $78). Pollstar noted that younger acts – including One Direction, Bryan, the Zac Brown Band and Bruno Mars – made the Top 20 for the first time and could be preparing to take over from older stars who've dominated the concert business the last decade.

If they are grossing just over 2 million per show that means the first leg of 40 stops grossed over 80 million :eek: And there is another 40 shows :eek:

I'm glad to see Stevie's friend Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are doing good this year.

Did everyone expect Christine to be this lucrative? Even after their last tour ending within months of this one starting. I guess that's why this tour was originally only 33 shows to feel everything out, if they still sold out big arenas and how much Christine could do after a 15 year hiatus and she's 70.

StubHub's Year-End Biggest Sellers

Back in June, country music icon George Strait drew a crowd of over 100,000 people for the final concert of his farewell tour in Arlington, Texas. It's no surprise, then, that a big chunk of those tickets were picked up on StubHub, the online ticket seller, which now says Strait's show at AT&T Stadium helped make him its No. 2 artist of the year.

StubHub's top-selling act of 2014? That would be those dream-boats in One Direction, followed by Strait and another country star Luke Bryan. StubHub rep Glen Lehrman said more tickets were sold for Strait's last show than the next two largest events in 2014 (concerts by Bryan and Justin Timberlake).

"I don't think we realize how huge country music is," Lehrman admitted to Adweek. "Traditionally, we think of pop music as the one that is going to drive the most interest in ticket sales -- your Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga. George Strait didn't do that many dates, but his last concert ever was by far one of the biggest events we had in 2014."

Strait's final hurrah took place at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, on June 7, with guest performances from Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert and others. With attendance hovering at around 105,000, it broke the North American record for largest crowd for an indoor concert.

Lehrman said overall music sales were stagnant this year, but that 2015 should see a lift with help from big tours by U2, Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks and other heavyweights. "In 2014, we didn't see the caliber and amount of big concerts," Lehrman said. "That's going to change in 2015."

Not much of my cash this time.If they toured in the summer .I would forked out more cash and have 5 shows under my belt.

I'm glad to see they are number one.

These figures blow my mind. No wonder they have no problem bringing 3 back up singers, another drummer, keyboardist, etc.
If the tour averages just about 1.5 million each night...... I try to figure out how much each of the 5 would get each night after taxes. After travel expenses and the entire entourage getting paid I bet each Mac member gets at least $200k after taxes. After a 70 show North American tour. That would equal 14 million EACH and the tour has not even hit Europe yet. Plus my figures and calculations are very conservative. Its probably much more. 20 million each for 6 months of work is not too shabby :eek:

Fleetwood Mac leads the slate of touring artists in the weekly tally of Hot Tours (see list, below) based on box office revenue from its On With the Show tour that launched in September, 2014. During the latest tracking period, three arenas reported $3.8 million in ticket sales from the veteran rock band's winter trek through markets in the U.S. and Canada.

A Jan. 20 sellout at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich. produced the top gross among the three venues with $1.4 million in revenue from 10,204 sold seats. The number of tickets sold was 172 more than that in Montreal two weeks later at the Bell Centre on Feb. 5, generating sales just over $1 million. Finally, with ticket prices ranging from $125 to $195, the group's Feb. 7 concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. produced a $1.3 million take from 7,542 sold tickets.

The On With the Show tour will continue its North American schedule of more than 80 concerts through April 14, wrapping in the Los Angeles market at the Forum in Inglewood. A six-week European trek will follow beginning with a two-night stand at London's O2 Arena on May 27.

Next on the list of Hot Tours is classical artist Andrea Bocelli with $3.7 million in ticket sales reported from a three-night engagement in Hollywood, Fla. The Italian tenor performed at Hard Rock Live, the 5,500-seat arena at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Feb. 12, 14 and 15 -- his first U.S. performances of the year. He ended 2014 with a six-city American trek during December, grossing $13.3 million from 78,183 sold seats in six arenas. His final show of 2014, a Dec. 17 sold out performance at New York City's Madison Square Garden, logged the highest gross and attendance counts during the December run with $2.7 million in revenue from 15,070 fans.

Bocelli began this year with a series of January concerts in three European countries: Latvia, Lithuania and Finland. The Florida shows were his only dates in February, but three more North American concerts are set for June. A second three-show European swing will follow in August with performances in Italy and Spain.

A November event in Prague and a Phoenix concert planned in December round out the operatic tenor's 2015 concert schedule.

When I checked into the hotel in Pittsburgh for the Fleetwood Mac concert, Eric Church was playing that night and the hotel was PACKED with fans. The Consol Engergy Center was overflowing with people. I had to ask who was performing and one fan in the elevator said Eric Church. I was like......WHO? When I got to the room I googled the name and it is some country star. If it was not for that Fleetwood Mac concert and Eric Church playing in Pittsburgh a few days before the Mac, I still would not know who he is LOL.

I am one of those people who feels like he is current with the times but I have never heard of these 4 people.Am I to assume Gabriel is the son of Julio?

I can say I know who Andre Rieu is, and most of you are probably not old enough to know him, I mean like you have to be 75+. I'm definitely not that old, (nowhere near!) but I saw him once on PBS and convinced my husband to go see him when he came to our city. It was really good, big orchestral music, with everyone in tuxes and evening gowns. Anyways, it was like a retirement home en mass, my husband and I were the only people under 50 (or more like under 70) in the entire 20,000 person arena.

Gabe and Jeff are funny comics.I think Gabe is not related to Julio.

I would love to see comic Lewis black get good numbers.He is very funny.

Eric Church is a country singer.I never seen him live.

It looks like Zayn Malik leaving One Direction didn’t result in fans deserting the group’s On the Road Again tour—it tops Billboard’s Hot Tours chart for the week of April 22.

The chart-topping $6.2 million total gross comes from the two shows the band had in Johannesburg, South Africa on March 28 and 29, just days after Malik announced his exit. The two shows had a total attendance of 131,615.

Prior to Malik’s parting, One Direction also topped the Hot Tours chart on April 1, with 19 On the Road Again Tour stops grossing more than $68 million and bringing 565,853 fans to shows from Feb. 7 to March 25.

Following One Direction on the April 22 chart is Michael Buble, who sits at No. 2 with $2.9 million grossed over four shows in South Africa. Fleetwood Mac comes in at No. 3, with $1.6 million grossed from their March 25 show in Atlanta with 13,711 people in attendance. Kevin Hart is No. 4 thanks to his two-night stint in Nashville that grossed $1.5 million. Also making the list are Chris Brown and Trey Songz, John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John, Katt Williams, The Tragically Hip, Eric Church, and Neil Diamond.
