Hi Elle  Since people seem to want Lindsey to sing Olivia Newton Johns song "Twist of Fate" ...and you want him to sing Janet Jacksons "That's the Way Love Goes" ... I thought I'd play too... I think he should sing Cyndi Laupers "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" this tour! :]

I imagine Stevie didn't really have the energy to rip it up by the time it came around to the Tango tour in 87 as she was pretty much doped up on klonopin for the whole tour, so it got dropped (along with "Rhiannon") and then forgotten about

Thanks for your reply:thumbsup:

Yes, I did wonder whether it was vocal issue with Stevie, she did hit a lot of long high notes on that song.

I just think the band in general sounded really, really good on that song and it worked very well live - but if it's going to affect Stevie's voice then maybe it's understandable that it remains dropped sadly.

Don't get me wrong, I think she could still do it justice vocally these days. The last few years have seen the best "Gold Dust Woman" performances since the Rumours tour. But during the Tango tour, Stevie was pretty out of it. She was even going through the motions with "Stand Back", and a song like "Sisters of the Moon" that would require some seriously high energy and passion just wouldn't have worked.

"The Dance" and "Unleashed" were both 'hits' tours ("The Dance" being the reunion tour and "Unleased" billed as 'The Hits' tour), so they stuck with the obvious setlist choices, give or take a few tracks (Farmers Daughter, Storms). The 03-04 tour was in support of the new album and, rightly so, had a focus on new material + the hits...at least it would have if Stevie hadn't stopped half her new material.

So really, the 2013 tour is the first opportunity they've had to do "Sisters of the Moon" since 1982. It wouldn't have worked on Tango or BTM tours due to Stevie's lack of energry and the tours since, it wouldn't have been relevant. So now is the perfect time to pick it back up again.

StevieNicksfann 02-21-2013 12:08 PM

I've always thought Rhiannon or Seven Wonders would make a great opener for a set list especially if you replay the opening chords to Seven Wonders and have the lights go up on each chord on a different member until Stevie hits the stage and starts singing. But for this tour, I think I Don't Want To Know would be a great opener as well as wonderful surprise and message to tell people she and Lindsey are friends now and she is willing to do the song. But I suspect Lindsey will want to start the show with a song of his in which case I think Monday Morning into The Chain was killer last tour.

I once watched a Fleetwood Mac tribute band open their set with "Gypsy" and it was WRONG on so many levels. Pretty much guarunteed they'll open with either "The Chain" or "Monday Morning".

Albums Ignored.....

I think it is funny how some albums are completely ignored..... Time, Behind The Mask......... I wonder what Lindsey and Stevie think of those, although SAVE ME was a pretty good song.......

I still have a feeling some old Blue's songs might be snuck in.........

I must admist, I would love to hear some "Black Magic Woman".......Lindsey could go crazy on the song.

Didn't Stevie mention BTM in a recent interview as an album they look at when putting together their setlist?

I adore when Lindsey does "Oh Well"......IMO I think he does it way better than PG ever did!

So, yeah, I think he should so do BMW - he would be amazing!

nope, go for it! just to go to that 6 deep cuts thread and suggest 3 lb and 3 SN deep cuts (from their FM released songs only) that you would like to hear.

This is my idea/guess of the set list...since we all know the Mac is somewhat predictable in their list and "sequencing" this is my close guess to what it could be.

Second Hand News
The Chain
Dreams
Miss Fantasy
Never Going Back Again
Rhiannon
Eyes of the World
Sad Angel
Big Love
Landslide
Without You
Silver Springs
I'm So Afraid
Gold Dust Woman
Soldier's Angel
Trouble
Tusk
Stand Back
Go Your Own Way
World Turning
Don't Stop
Encore: Sisters of the Moon

Of course at some point - the new songs will probably get dropped and replaced with a known song like Gypsy, Monday Morning, or Oh Well.

Wow, the scary part of this is...THAT will probably be the setlist exactly. The only questionable number is Sisters. Everything else is definitely in strong contention!

I would hope not too, but I wouldn't put it past Lindsey. Go Insane isn't particularly that great of a song and it was played during two FM tours (although, IMO, the 1997 version was far superior to the "full band" Unleashed version).

  • 1 BN song
  • 1 solo song each from LB and SN
  • that all would add up to ~19 songs which would leave space for between 4 and 6 deep cuts (depending on which other often-performed and/or pre-rumours songs make the set).

we had several separate threads either voting or suggesting solo, BN, and must-do songs, plus a thread with a lot of good suggestions for 3 deep cuts from SN and 3 deep cuts from LB.

from all those threads, one can piece together a ledge-suggested setlist, that would go somewhat like this (not in order):

6 deep cuts:
The Ledge
Tango in the Night
What Makes You Think You're the One
Sisters of the Moon
Angel
That's Alright

2 solo songs:
That’s The Way Love Goes or Rock Away Blind
You May Be The One or Soldier’s Angel

7 must-do songs:
Rhiannon
Go Your Own Way
Landslide
I'm So Afraid
Big Love
Dreams
The Chain
Don’t Stop

6 probable must-do songs:
Gypsy
Tusk
Second Hand News
Never Going Back Again
Gold Dust Woman
Silver Springs

BN song:
Frozen Love

3 new songs:
Without You
Sad Angel
Miss Fantasy

all together 26.

jmn3 03-05-2013 03:19 PM

So I put one together, and then I look at it and thought, I'm about as predictable as the band is! So, maybe I should complain less about their sets. Anyway, I didn't know where to fit the two new songs in, so I didn't include them on my list... if you do include the two new songs, it's 25 songs. This will never happen (I turfed *gasp* Dreams, Stand Back, So Afraid, among some others), though it's quite Rumours heavy on the bookends, so I think it would go over well with the casual fan.

he knows he has much better solo songs, even if Trouble was a hit. plus he considered dropping it even from his solo tour set last year, so i really don't know why he'd consider it for FM tour. Michele said his niece tried to unsuccessfully convince him several years ago... i hope he didn't reconsider.

i love both versions of Go Insane, but if they are doing a solo song, i want something different. his SWS songs are spectacular and rocking, so why not add one of them instead of same ole same ole?

redbird 03-05-2013 03:34 PM

I'm so easy. When it comes right down to it I'd take anything they'd give me as long as I could get "Angel".

(That said I still want all the other songs I voted for.)

i think i could live with your list although some of your choices wouldn't be my first... but definitely not as predictable as FM usual list!

so you have 8 LB songs, 10 SN songs (including 1 solo), 1 PG, 1 BN, 2 CM song. not exactly balanced but i would be really happy to hear many of your choices (The Ledge, Hold me, Sisters, Angel, BTLH, and most of all WATL!).

I wasn't being all that pessimistic about the list I came up with...and for the rest of you I only said it was my guess...because didn't we get the same speech about the Unleashed tour and how awesome it was going to be and then we saw the set list and they only added on a couple of gems?

I guess I choose not to stick my head in the sand and believe that the Mac is going to shock and awe on this tour. I would still go see them regardless of the set list.

And if my list is wrong - I will eat Chiffon Salads for the rest of this year

:laugh: anyway, there is a separate thread somewhere for the list like yours - what people predict will happen. this thread here has been originally put together to counter-weigh that other prediction thread by being unabashedly unrealistic.

not that the list i pasted above as The Ledge setlist is REALLY unrealistic, it is actually based on what band members were saying about the setlist possibilities in the last 2 months.

however we know FM's old conservative stuck-in-the-mud nature, or at least that's what everybody's telling me their behavior is regarding setlists on their tours.

Fair dues

I personally would like to see Lindsey do Empire State - I've always liked that song and I know he'd rip the guitar at the end. Stevie would have good backup vocal range for that too.

As for Stevie - hmm - I think it would be cool if they did Smile At You but converted it back to the rock version like we heard in the demos. Quite a stretch, I know, but it would be kinda cool to see. I guess my most realistic view would be Angel - but she'd probably have to do it in the original key of the song and not the higher key that she usually does live on stage.

As for anything BN related - I would LOVE to hear Long Distance Winner. They could totally pull that off.

I pieced it together based on what the band has said in interviews and set lists they've actually used in the past. I hope it's more varied than what I have listed, but adding three new songs (Without You, Sad Angel, Miss Fantasy) is actually quite radical for Fleetwood Mac these days. I think the set will naturally be heavy with Rumours songs because the reissue is driving this tour. Tusk songs will get attention because of how well they were received on the last two tours and how vocal fans have been about wanting to hear more of the album, hence Sisters of the Moon being added. Stand Back has been in every solo set list since 1983 and every Mac set list (in which Stevie was part of the band) since 1987. It's going to be played. My dark horse pick is Miranda, which probably won't get played, but something from SYW will, given how proud Lindsey is of those songs.

see but band's been saying this tour will be different, and full of deep cuts, unlike the last one. you are not the only one who says there's no reason to believe them, and that they will basically just do a 1 deep cut per songwriter kinda like they did last tour when they did Storms and IKINW.

on every tour where they were promoting new release they were doing what? 6-8 new songs? so if they have just 2 or 3 new songs out i really don't see it as radical at all to actually add those songs to the set - as they were saying they will for months now.

i say band is bs-ing us if they will do a list like you and others are predicting.

also, SN said a month ago they will do only 22 songs, and everybody told me i'm crazy calling for 26. now she came out with 24 songs and one of her deep cuts. so i call it a great start and it better not stop there for all the money they are charging.

i keep saying this, and so i will once again: i created this thread for fans to provide unrealistic wish lists, not realistic or pessimistic predictions.

Oh, I wasn't being pessimistic. I don't find anything wrong with the set list I posted. If Mac performs three new songs, that's a good thing. Until April 4 passes, we won't actually know what "realistic" is ;)

if Mac performs 3 new songs, 4-6 "deep cuts" plus drops some of the stale ole songs, and performs 1 fresh solo song each from their respective 2011 albums, than *i* will consider that a good thing. but i'm more radical than most. ;):p:angel:

plus they should do at least 26 songs.

It will never happen.

I think Ledgies are getting my "Ledge Prediction Setlist" which is what we think the Mac will perform confused with your "Ledge Wishlist Setlist" which is about what we would like the Mac to perform.

yeah i know...

and you know, not that i heard they are doing Sara again (i really hope that's just a slip of a tongue and SN was just talking without thinking which songs she's listing), i'm becoming just as pessimistic as many of the others here. :(:distress:

one SOTM doesn't make up for the rest of the setlist of things like Sara. there was no need whatsoever to drag it back out. they did it on UL and it sucked.

See, I sat there in Pittsburgh 4 years ago and I did not think Sara sucked at all. It sounded like quite a bit like what I would expect Sara to sound like. I don't get the Sara hate, for YEARS on all of the boards people griped about not getting Sara in the setlist. It gets played again for a tour and a half, for the first time in over 15 years, and now it's bitched about.

Sara is a Masterpiece. I'd love it in the set, Although I don't vote for it because it will never ever match the original.

after this i have nothing to say to you anymore shackin'up :p

can't stand the song and never could. plus it goes on for 7 minutes of boredom and takes up the space of 3 good rocking short songs. :(
