Yeah, I got it about a week ago too. It's OK. Nothing new or earth-shattering in there. A few factual howlers, my favourite being that it refers to Don Henley as a guitarist twice. The really jaw-dropping thing is the author's credits include having written a book about The Eagles, ffs.

But Don Henley does play guitar.

Yeah, so does Mick Fleetwood (lead guitar on "These Strange Times")

I'm glad this thread is in the proper forum. :)

I've been thinking about getting this book for Christmas, as I don't have any Fleetwood Mac books. Although, I am concerned about these obvious mistakes.

I don't mind a few errors here and there. I hope somebody remembers me for Christmas.:blob2:

I bought it a while back...the price was right. If you get the book, it's because it has a really cool cover and lots of great pictures!! It's a show piece, and for a little over $15 it's pretty cool

As long as people know what is correct and what is wrong, I can deal with it. Though I can't picture casual FM or music fans buying this book.

It will be awesome to have actual pictures on paper versus the computer screen. I definitely plan on ordering it and another FM related item for Christmas.

Just ordered my copy of this book from Amazon UK - half price at £10! :blob1:

MacShadowsBall 12-10-2011 05:52 PM

I ordering this book and the Rumours deluxe edition last night from Amazon.

I ordered it too. I think it'll be a nice little addition to my collection of FM stuff. I'm not expecting to learn anything new.

I'm gonna have to pay a visit to my nearest Barnes & Noble today. Hopefully it is still marked down. Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome. Hope you get the same deal! :)

bangdrum 12-15-2011 12:00 PM

In my Barnes & Noble there's literally a pile of them (about 6, I think) on the floor next to one of the shelves. They're not on sale though. :distress:

McTrouble 12-15-2011 02:50 PM

I love it - great coffee table book!

And there's some scrummy pics of Linds......[I]sigh[I]........oh wait, I'd forgotten he's in my bad books and currently not forgiven!!! ;)

Silver Springs 12-15-2011 03:02 PM

I have no idea why I didn't put this book on my Christmas list. I guess I have to order it for myself after Christmas lol.

CADreaming 12-15-2011 10:37 PM

I checked the B&N website today and it's listed at 50% off.

iamnotafraid 12-16-2011 01:18 AM

It's a dust collector.
Cheap, cheap, cheap.

MacShadowsBall 12-16-2011 12:08 PM

My copy arrived yesterday! I love the cover, but I can't open it or read it until Christmas.

starshine 12-22-2011 05:36 PM

I was at B & N yesterday & did find a copy & looked through it. There weren't any new pictures or info that I didn't know. It was 50% off to but I just couldn't find a real good reason to purchase it when there wasn't at least some rare photo in it that I couldn't live without. All the pictures I've seen before. So I passed on it. I really wanted it to be something I wanted but I don't need anymore dust collectors around. Have enough of that really. Please enjoy though if you do get it OK.

Well I got the book and read over it the past days. It has some really good pictures. The book does have more reading than I thought it was going to be. Its a perfect sized book, also.

It covers the entire history of the band, even the Behind the Mask and Time albums. It covers Pre-Rumours and the early Rumours era quite well.

poetinmyheart 12-27-2011 01:26 PM

I got this from Santa. Apart from the glaring errors that have already been pointed out, I really like it. Beautiful pictures and nicely presented. Although there's nothing new in it, it was a pleasure to flick through.

I agree - and it's such a lovely book to leave lying around, I love it!

 More or less what I said in my last post!

I'm so pleased people are loving this great volume! :)

Yes, and even members of my family who have zero interest in the Mac (strange, I know), have enjoyed looking through it.

I agree. It's a nice book...until the limelight brought me down.;)

Though my mom likes several of their songs, she really isn't a big Fleetwood Mac fan, but she has looked at the book several times.

It is definitely a great "show piece." They did a great job with the design on the book. I like that there are tons of photos.

What was weird for me was reading about the post 1997 period. It was kind of cool to step back from Mick's book and read about the history of the band that I was apart of. They used one of my favorite photos of Stevie and Lindsey from the 2009 London show, with Lindsey's leg high in the air.

Also, I got this for like $12 or something the week before Christmas. VERY cheap.

What instrument did you play? Did you have any duets with Stevie?

THAT is a great shot, and Stevie's look ( at him ) is so classic. Pride and amusement all rolled into one

Even though I like the book, I personally hate the sleeve design. It bares a striking resemblance to beginner's photoshop. Far too overworked. The sienna pattern overlaying the band picture, not unlike something you would find on your Grandmother's walls, is just not needed in my opinion. Other than that, I do think the book looks promising. I just haven't had a change to do more than flick through at the moment due to Uni/work/other commitments.

Was having a look in the music section of the book store at lunchtime and found this book. Looked okay, I like some of the photo’s and would love to scan a few. The ones from the Welch/Kirwan era in particular plus the shots of Mick pulling faces.

But then reading through this thread I hear mention of Micks own picture book. I wasn’t aware of that. Is it still available?? I know his own book on the history seems to be out of print. I’ll have a search on ebay but just thought i’d ask for the name of the picture one.

And are there any sites where some of these rare shots can be found? Looks like there’s some nice avatars to be made from these rarers photo’s.

I’ll probably buy this book, not stunning, could be better but for £13 on amazon.co.uk i’ll treat myself.

MacShadowsBall 06-13-2012 05:33 PM

I have this book and still enjoy it. Recently I've been reading the sections on the Welch/Christine era.
