I know, right! Poor Stevie didn't really have anything to do.:( The others all have instruments their "playing".

Anybody got some 1987 pictures they'd like to share?

Blueletter18 09-27-2011 06:32 PM

Yeah, she pretty much owns this look...

Yes, but back then she probably wore heels when she was not on stage as well. I don't think she was a Reebok girl at the time.

Or just take another 2 yrs and record/release a single album before breaking up again...

Great interview though, thanks for posting!

Kinda sad when you think about it. :(

The all appeared to be hopeful for this "new" Fleetwood Mac, but for various reasons it didn't happen.

No problem. It's been fun and I think this "Year of the Mac" has worked out well.

Well I'm off to youtube to find another treasure.

Awesome pic's vivfox. We'll use the next to last one for 1992.

Glad your back. :wavey:

On the Bio Channel's FM show there's some (relatively) recent interview footage with Rick Vito and he mentions how long it took to record Behind The Mask, seeming pretty disenchanted with it. I forget the exact quote, but something to the effect of he didn't think it would take 18 months to make an album; and he's right, it shouldn't have. An almost 25 yr old band of seasoned professionals shouldn't have taken that long, especially considering the notorious perfectionist wasn't around.

They *still* shouldn't be taking so long between projects! Imho... :woohoo:

Morgana 09-27-2011 09:56 PM

Saw this on my youtube page and since it was 1987, well....here ya go!

After I posted it and saw the poster of 25 Years The Chain in the background I realized I had made a mistake.

I shouldn't question you cause I consider you the picture expert but I'd still swear it's Tango. Look at Stevie's hair and the part of her outfit that covers her chest: totally Tango to me. Do you have any other pics similar to show me it is Mirage?

macpai 09-28-2011 11:27 AM

1987, the first time I saw the Mac! They came right on campus at the University of South Florida, I just walked down the block to see them. After years and years and years of having them as part of the soundtrack of my life, it was just so amazing.

I loved the "Tango" album, played it on the Walkman all the time to and from class.

It really brings back so many great memories. Thanks for the thread!

You're right -- that one is 'Tango' era. It's actually the third pic that's 'Mirage' era.

Based on that black ribbon around Stevie's neck and her hair style I would tend to agree with you BUT the backstage pass the man is wearing was from the TITN Tour, wasn't it?

It's a pass from the 'Mirage' Tour....

As a side-note, I think the man in the photo with her, won the "One Night Stand with Fleetwood Mac" MTV contest.

Still is.

There is an alternate pic from this shoot where I still think Stevie looks her most beautiful ever.

I like those bracelets Christine was wearing. She was certainly developing a more polished look by that time. Are you certain that the fourth photograph is from 1987? Stevie's face looks fuller(not to mention her bust). I would guess it was taken in 1989. If I'm not mistaken, an interviewer once compared her look at that time to Mae West. It was certainly more bold and flamboyant. The hats and clothes became more grand and colourful. I wonder if it was to cover up her weight gain or just a sign of the times. Nevertheless, I've always loved how she looked and dressed during the late 1980's/early 1990's.

PolishStevieFan 10-01-2011 04:45 AM

1987 was a big year for the group and considering how strong competition they had back then, it was a huge feat to sell as many albums and had as many hits as they had. "Little Lies", "Everywhere" and "Big Love" all went Top 10 in US. But I must add, that my parents remember that Polish radio station (the one that was playing so-called "imperialistic" music) picked up "Family Man" song and was playing it a lot of times. For the further proof of Fleetwood Mac's popularity in my country I give some information about chart positions in 1987 (in the most important back then Polish Chart-"Polish Radio 3 Chart") :

1. Little Lies #1 (14 weeks on the chart)
2. Seven Wonders #10 (11 weeks on the chart)
3. Everywhere #6 (10 weeks on the chart)
4. Big Love #18 (8 weeks on the chart)
5. Isn't It Midnight #31 (4 weeks on the chart)

I've questioned this before but I was told it is Stevie and was taken at a family reunion with her brother, aunt and cousin. I know for sure her eyes are blue here - and that stood out to me because I've never seen or known that Stevie wore colored contacts.

WildHearted 10-02-2011 05:44 PM

Even aside from the blue eyes, something looks off. Like, her face isn't long enough or something.

No, I'm not sure. I bet Sanne would know the answer to this.

I always thought the clothes around 1989-90 were to try to cover up the weight gain.

Not until you questioned me did I even have any doubt. You could very well be right. That could be Cheryl Cuesella. Or it could be Stevie.

I wondered about Cheryl too since she was supposed to be close to Stevie's aunt and uncle.

That's definitely Stevie with her brother and 2 aunts, there are some more pics from that time with blue contacts.
However, I don't think this is 1987 but '85 or '86

GoldDustWoman87 10-11-2011 05:16 AM

1987, year I was born. So obviously I remember none of this. But I do remember my mum and dad playing their TITN cassette in the car well into the late 1990s. Without that, I don't think I'd have become a fan. I used to ask my mum to rewind for Little Lies and Everywhere. I remember Caroline very well too from back then.

Always loved those Christine tunes, even as a 5-year-old. ;)
