That's amazing. Congratulations. Well, this time you'll get to make a stay out of it, instead of going to several concerts in a few days, you can do the one and then enjoy the country. It's hair-raising to think about how far the venue is going to be from the hotel and how far the hotel is from the airport and so on, but at least you've got 6 weeks to make your plans.

Since it's the last show, you must tell us everything shippy down to the final glance, even if you don't like that kind of stuff:p.

Who says I'm not going to go to several concerts in a few days? I'm checking out Brisbane right now! :lol: Actually I'm not sure what my itinerary will be, but I suspect there will be some driving around the North Island somewhere in there. I do know that there are no hotel rooms available anywhere remotely close to New Plymouth, so I'm just going to have to warm to the idea of sleeping under a big tree while getting bitten by all manner of indigenous critters that never quite managed to get north of the equator. Ugh...

My hope is that the final show will be full of tears, drama and scenery chewing. Do you think they'll play "Silver Springs?" :lol:

I am so insanely jealous, you have no idea. If I had a few more years at my job and could afford to take the time off, or had any savings right now, I would be there in an instant! Can't wait to hear all about it!

You really have to do as many shows as possible while down there. And you coulld always sleep in the hire car! :lol:

Oh trust me, I'm looking at itineraries. Just to complicate matters, the Christmas holiday is in the mix, so I somehow have to end up in Washington, DC at the end of this. And airfares have spiked since last week! :distress: All told I should be away for 12 - 14 days.

My parents flew back from Asia last week, and boy were they bitchin' about the long flight. :eek: Must. Look. Into. Honolulu. Stopover.

The flight is even longer from the UK!

Does Qantas or Air New Zealand go non-stop from the UK to NZ?

There are no direct flights from the UK to AUstralia as far as I'm aware. I think the shortest time including stop over somewhere is around 23 hours

Where do they stop mostly? Singapore or somewhere like that?

Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai. Some go the other way via LA I think

I just remember that when I went to Australia in 2001 just from LA was 15 hours EACH WAY NON STOP!:eek: Thats like twice as far as my nonstop fights when I went to London.

It was 11 hours when I flew London to LA last year

There are a number of carriers doing 13-hour direct flights from LAX. However, I don't think I would mind terribly a 10-hour layover somewhere- just to be able to get off the plane for a bit, decompress, shower, sleep in a real bed and then resume the journey, especially when coming back to New York. It's screwed up that I could theoretically depart from NZ on Christmas day and be back home in NYC on Christmas Eve. :shrug:

For me it was 9.5 hours going and then over 11 hours returning. But 9.5 hours is the shortest it's ever been for me. That was a pleasant surprise. I guess the wind was in our favor.

That's incredible, actually. NYC to London was a smidge over 6 hours, which means you screamed across the continent in 3.5 hours!

Anyway... just as I suspected, there isn't an empty bed to be found anywhere even remotely close to New Plymouth. However, I did find a chalet that is literally located at the base of a semi-active volcano. It's only about 18 miles away as the crow flies, but you literally have to drive around the volcano to get to the only access road from the south- a two hour ordeal. I'm sure it would be quite lovely during the day... but I can only imagine trying to navigate around there in the pitch black of night. For some reason sleeping in the car at the Brooklands park is sounding more and more appealing right now. I can always bathe in the eel-infested moat. :eek:

Hey~ how many times have you seen them ever???? And when did you first see them? ( What year?)

In the beginning of the tour they said that after this year and Uk/ Australia that they might set up a couple more US shows...do you think they might still do this??? Obviously there's been no mention now but do you think they might change their minds and maybe do a few more US shows....I'm so having withdrawal....its been since June...got see them again!

No direct flights yet. I did the trip a few times and it was 22-23 hours--two 11 hour flights (London to Singapore or HK, fuel stop, on to Sydney). I have read that a few airlines (Virgin for one) plan to offer a non-stop service in 2011 or 2012. The flight time will be 17 hours.

I've done the trip once since moving from London to the USA and I think it was roughly the same--15 hrs from LA to Sydney and roughly 5-6 hrs for me to get to LA.

It's such a long journey (esp with children!) and the time difference so painful. It's a wonderful trip though-

Ive seen Fleetwood Mac 66 times now. 125 times if you include Stevie and Lindsey, and Peter Green too. First year I saw then was 1995 a the Rock Fest in Cadott Wisconsin.

Aren't they setting up seats on top of the moat? Anyway, if not, this isn't the first time I've stood in water for a show, e.g., Jones Beach 2007. :eek: Must. Pack. Antibiotics.

All the Seated seats that aren't general admission are across the lake just for this show :laugh:
