Congrats...

on a great 10 years. I have been using this site since the Fall of 1997 and have enjoyed it. I miss the trading post, I got some neat stuff there and even sent a few folks RRHoF tees the year FM was inducted. Here's a toast to 10 more years.

Terri :woohoo:

Happy 10th Penguin!

Very well said. Congratulations and thank you very much!

Congrats!!

Well done on the first 10 years...

It won't be long, just three short years from now, when The Ledge becomes a teenager and we get the odd tantrum, mood swing and wobbler... Hang on, that happens on a daily basis anyway doesn't it?

I look forward to the next 10 years of debates and chat and hopefully through to the release of Lindsey's next solo album hopefully before the 20th anniversary....

Hee!!

Hey, MFM, who said the quote in your sig? Great one, BTW.

Oh no, not THE TEEN YEARS!! EGADS!! Voices changing, hormones raging, mood swings, hating the 'rents...nope, I'll be away from the Ledge during those years.

Actually, I was kind of quiet back then. I remember the Lindsey chats on The Penguin that used to be I think on Tuesday nights, too. I was quiet there, too.
I can't say that I miss that old WebTV however. I have more memories of trying to get on to those chat rooms then actually being there.

Well done Lis and Marty, keep up the good work and congratulations on the
best FM website out there in www wonderland.

Happy Birthday to the best site around. IMO, this IS the best site with a wealth of information not available anywhere else. The money, time, energy and love you both have put into this site is incredible.

I think there are quite a few benefits of not being the offical site. The Fix had to change quite a bit after it went offical. Much more monitering! The NicksFix is a fantastic site with many, many priceless and rare tidbits. (journals) The "official" Mac site is pretty inactive now and is so lame when compared to this one. No one has ever put much time or effort into it. It is sort of amusing.

I found this place in the summer of 97, right before the tour started. I loved it then and I love it now. There have been some very interesting and heavy debates around the Ledge ...Summer/Fall 98? LOL

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE PENGUIN.
MUCH APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO MARTY AND LIS.

I couldn't agree with everyone more. Thanks Marty & Lis, though I didn't get online until the end of 2000, ever since then, you guys know I'd be lost without the Penguin. :)

Happy Birthday to the Penguin!!! :woohoo: Also, thanks, Marty and Lisa for giving me a site that helps me realize that my Fleetwood Mac obsession is normal. Eh, well, maybe not normal, but thanks for introducing me to other Fleetwood Mac fans, all of whom we consider to be normal....somewhat. :p

Keep up the great work! You are the OFFICIAL FLEETWOOD MAC website in my eyes and always will be!

Regina 04-03-2005 01:05 PM

Congratulations

Ah, the Penguin.
I believe I gushed over it when I met you guys last year (I hope I did!)
I learned everything Mac-related through the Blue Letter Archives.
I learned interesting behind the scenes facts through the lyric interpretations and the discographies.
I learned how wonderful and how insane internet folks are through the Ledge (and I'm not excluding myself here  ) Seriously, I've made friendships that have turned concert-going into mini-reunions and that would have never happened without the Ledge.
You really sacrificed a lot for this site and you should be terribly proud of this accomplishment.

You guys are writing such nice stuff. :xoxo: Regina- you were the lovely person that I said had eyes the exact same color as Chris McVie, right? All the folks we've had the opportunity to meet from the Ledge have always been so darn nice. it's always been a pleasure!!

I love this site. Thank u so much !!!!

Farrah 04-03-2005 08:57 PM

Happy 10th Anniversary Penguin ... and thank you Marty and Lis, for having fed my obsession since March 1998.

For me, half the fun of concert-going has been meeting Ledgies from all over the place.

Thanks! :woohoo: My obsession is well-fed.

I knew it must have been getting close to 10 years... I've been on my job ten years in June, and in the early days I found The Penguin and it was one of my favorite less-than-busy day timekillers.

Over the years I've probably visited this site more than any other non-work-related web site. The Penguin has changed a lot over the years, particularly The Ledge. But it's still absolutely one of my favorites, and I still visit pretty much every day. I read more than I post since The Ledge went to BB software (I remember well the old WWWBoard days), mostly because the people who gather here are some of the most well-informed, fun FM fans anywhere. I always learn something new here.

Congratulations, Marty and Lisa. You guys have worked so hard for the band you love, and for all of us out here who love them, too. Everyone here owes you much for all the years of information, entertainment and stimulating Mac-related (and ... non-Mac-related) cyber-conversation.

Y'all are the best. And The Penguin is, too!

Torri, I recall making lots of tapes for you; I felt like i was always writing your name on an envelope. I also remember the 'giddiness' of getting new FM stuff.... it was like an incredible high. My collection grew in leaps and bounds from that trading post, it was pretty amazing.

Oh, you think that's bad? You should've been around for the "terrible twos". This is "peace, love & understanding" by comparison. :D

Marty & Lis--

Congratulations and a Happy 10th Anniversary to the Penguin! I remember I had not had much interest in the 'net until 1997 and The Dance on MTV. I watched, mezmerized, and then looked at my now ex-husband and said "how do I look for information on Fleetwood Mac?". He showed me how to do a search (before the days of Google) and The Penguin came up. I went to your site and never left.

Here's to you! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

tuigirl 04-04-2005 04:56 PM

Lis..out of sheer Kiwi curiosity, has John ever posted anything?

I don't think so....unless he's registered under some other name/address etc...for all I know *you* could be John LOL. :p I suppose there's a tiny chance he might lurk every now and then, but FWIW I don't think message boards would be his thing. During his Q&A I sent him a direct link to it about halfway through, just so he could see what it looked like w/ the pics in it etc...because otherwise I'm not sure he'd ever look at the end result!...anyway when he saw it he seemed really touched and grateful, thanked me "for doing all this" (yeah, like it was any trouble!? )

BTW I just want to add that i love everyone's little stories about how they found the site, they are so cute and touching. I may print this stuff out, it's great to read it all!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Congrats on 10 awesome years of the Penguin!!! I have been peeking in since 1998 and a Ledgie since 2000! Thanks Lis and Marty for coming up with this brilliant idea to keep us Mac fans happy and in touch with one another. :woohoo: :woohoo: :blob2: :blob1: :blob2: :blob1:

wondergirl9847 04-04-2005 09:22 PM

Trying to think back...

I started posting at a Lindsey site first (I had no idea about any FM sites) and when I didn't like that message board, I went looking for nicer sites. I found this place and liked it so much, I decided to make it my FM "home". Hehe. I love the personalized feel with the avatars, sigs and stuff. I've met friends for a lifetime on this site. :)

It's cozy here, I think I'll stick around for awhile. ;)

jadegypsy 04-04-2005 09:39 PM

Hey, Congrats on 10 years! I've only been here ~2 but it's a great place and everyone is always so friendly, and has a great sense of humor. Thanks for keeping the place running. As for how I found the place I can't really recall, think I posted on another board, and found out about this place by accident, quite happy I did. :)

LOL I seem to remember lurking and there being a few comments that LB was perhaps the least of the guitarists - but hey I may agree with that one  - and he might as well at least it it concerns Peter Green - sooooo . . . .

Janet 04-04-2005 11:43 PM

CONGRATS on 10 years!

I have been here since Sept of 1997. I came lurking after seeing a FM show at the ( then) E Center.

Marty was so nice and he offered other tickets to another show, but I couldn't go.

I got to meet them ( the Adelson family minus their son) in 1998, that was cool! I can't believe that was 7 years ago! I was only 20! Brit was still a baby!

But these boards and this whole site is the best! I am so glad it never shut down.

ANd yes, a vast improvement on the old boards, but I do miss the old days of stories and stuff, we had a GOOD time!

Bumperke 04-05-2005 12:52 AM

If i'm correct, i was the first "Dutchman" entering the site. We were testing a few browsers, and somehow Altavista was the first who discovered the secret. That was 1997, i was astonished by all this information 'bout FM. Some many facts that i wasn't aware off.
And now the child is already 10. Happy anniversary and a lot of compliments. :blob2:

Come on and try to beat the original FM site, this is for free.
Thank you Liz and Marty, great work.

Will :wavey:
PS, I added the wrong year, it was 1997 ( at the time the dance was released) and not 1993. (Could i beeeeee more stupid, i guess that's Chandler would have said, OMG i miss 'm)
