I totally agree. There aren't many men who can talk about themselves so openly and sincerely as he did during Behind The Music; he has all my respect.
What's the title? I have a friend who loves John Mayall, it would be the perfect present for him, and I want to see that snippet :D.

Mother of pearl, almost everything he says in the Behind the Music thing kills me. It's like for every word he says, those sad eyes are saying a thousand more.
The Mayall thing is called "John Mayall: Godfather of the British Blues" and it's really very cool. I tell you, for 70, that man looks fantastic. His career has been just amazing thing. There are interviews w/ Mick, John, Mick Taylor, Eric Clapton, Mike Vernon (who also looks great!), Mayall's older 2 sons, and even Mayall's first wife who has got to be nearly 70 and looks 20 yrs younger, still clearly just as much a bohemian as Mayall is. The whole thing is filled w/ people who have aged really well IMO!! it covers his move to CA, the 'Brain Damage Club' at his Laurel Canyon home (where John, Chris and Jenny Fleetwood went skinnydipping LOL) and how it burned to the ground, argh the man literally lost every material possession he had. Horrible.
Anyway if you get it for your friend, Romy, you may want to take a peek at it also. The 1969 footage of John talking is short, but worth seeing for his sexy 23 year old self. And at the end of the documentary John says how his life would have been very different if not for John Mayall. Long pause. And you can see tears welling up in his eyes before he jokes that he'd still be dealing w/ drunken Irishmen in the tax office. ;) Oh I'm such a sucker for sensitive men....*sigh*
