Sheesh... I read only the replies on this third page and then posted my own reply. Not remembering that I had already replied to this thread last year!
Dang senility! :o |

It sounds like we had a similiar upbringing. Both, my parents were rockers. They love all sorts of music, and they raised my brother and me to love music too. Both my parents, especially my dad, love the Mac. I'm one lucky girl! :D Now to answers the real question, I haven't really ever meet a person who didn't like Fleetwood Mac. They don't have the love affair with them they we all do, but they appreciate and like most of their music. I don't know anyone who hates them. |
I'll tell a little story to you all that may be funny. A few years ago when I was working at this Mobil Gas station they allowed us to have a cd player behind the counter and of course whenever I worked, I played Fleetwood Mac or Stevie for the most part. One day this woman came in, I'd seen ehr before, and she launched into a tirade about why she has to listen to that nasaly voiced B##ch every time she comes in the store. I told her that I liked her, and that since I'm behind the counter, I'm in charge, and if she didnt like Stevie to at least keep her comments to herself. She wouldnt let up, kept saying how she sucked and she didnt want to have to hear her again when he came in, and I told her to get the F**K out of the store and never come back. (She called me a moron before I uttered thids.) Anyhoo, I stood my ground for my girl!!!! :)

I was a teenager in the 70's most of my friends were into rock or country rock music and thought FM was very cool, especially when the "White Album" came out. Once Rumours went into the stratoshere commercially, the coolness went away. FM became way too commerical for many of them. Tusk on the other hand was considered "too weird" (Lindsey's stuff) for most people I knew. During the late 80's and throughout the 90's, most people I knew didn't dislike FM...they just didn't see them as rele  vant.

"Bandon"...hee hee...an old girlfriend of mine used to call me that (my name is Brandon). Too bad the coolness went away with Rumours...since its such a great album. I think because of the exposure on it, it was just too much. I remember my dad telling me he never bought Rumours on vinyl because you could turn on the radio at any moment and hear a Rumours song. He did however, own the "white" album and Tusk. |
I find it odd that my mum was 15 in 1973. She had never even heard of Stevie Nicks till three years ago when my MIL gave me "Rumours" and I went mental! Was she asleep?! Even now shes says, "Do you not get sick of THAT WOMANS voice?!"
How she doesnt like FM, well its beyond me! ~Nicki |
