I'm not sure as to why "Destiny Rules" and "Running Through the Garden" were dropped from the current tour. I can maybe understand that "Destiny Rules" just wasn't exciting live. Maybe they thought it was boring. I didn't think that was case with "RTTG" though. Beats me....

Stevie has said that "Sara" isn't performed anymore because it just doesn't transfer from the studio to live very well...Really doesn't explain why it was performed solid on 4 tours (Tusk-Bella Donna-Mirage-Wild Heart). I guess because the song was a current hit in the beginning and then they felt that they had no choice but to perform it. Anyway, there may be other reasons too....maybe simply that Stevie hasn't rediscovered it yet.

"Landslide" was absent from the set for 8 years. It was last performed on the Mirage tour and then it reappeared on the BTM tour and she even commented before the song that she thought everyone missed it and that's why they brought it back.

"Rhiannon" was absent for parts of the Tango tour and TOSOTM tour. As a matter of fact, when i saw them/her live on those tours they didn't perform it. I guess i was in the wrong city at the wrong time.

Yes, "I Don't Wanna Know" was the replacement song for "Silver Springs". Stevie has referred to it as a "fun little guitar song" but also as an "i don't care song....and i don't write too many i don't care songs"

I was actually grateful and quite impressed that they gave Rhiannon a rest for a while. I thought, "finally they figured out that not every concert tour has to have Rhiannon in the set!" I saw those tours and didn't miss the song at all -- the shows didn't suffer for its absence.

Noteably, Stevie didn't begin performing Landslide on her solo tours until the TimeSpace tour in 1991, when she closed the show with it....an excellent closer!

I agree. But then again, I have a feeling she would only stick with the familiar even if she did a song for the "dyed in the wool" fanatics. She's more comfortable doing the classics and trying to appease everyone by singing the familiar songs. The last time she was daring was when she recorded "Stand Back." In 1983.

I can understand dropping "Running Through The Garden" because to do the song justice live, it needs to have that fiery intensity the album version has. The Columbus show's version was a half-assed performance. But "Destiny Rules" is an easy song to sing even for a male baritone singer, so I don't think that tune would strain her voice too much.

"Everybody Finds Out" would not stand a chance of getting into the set list because Stevie would only do it half-assed if at all. Besides, the band would have to work around the sudden change from the first "she's done it a thousand times" to "When love starts out in the darkness." They also couldn't do that vocal distortion in the version on the Say You Will record.

I definitely think "Crystal" could be done live (though I think Buckingham Nicks did it in their shows).

"Straight Back" and its layered vocals would be difficult to approximate live unless Sharon and Mindy or Sharon and Jana took over parts of them. That's a shame because it's a great hidden gem of a song.

I would have liked to hear "Freedom" live. That would have kicked.

"Smile At You" is already watered down enough on Say You Will. It would be saturated by comparison on tour.

I get very agitated when I see comments like this. Who is anyone to say what the band can and can't play live, at least technically? Unless you are in support band ---and know the technical challenges and political climate-- why speculate and inflict such limits?

Anyone who is familiar with the live performances of the band through the years knows very well that the live versions of their songs are very different from their studio versions. This was especially true in the years when it was just the five of them...and not an eight piece support band.

Just because a song performed live might not sound exactly like the studio version doesn't invalidate it!!! If that were the case, in 1979 we'd say "Oh they can't perform Tusk without the marching band." Or this song without that part etc...

I prefer not to hear a carbon copy of a studio version in concert. I like that, as Lindsey has mentioned, how they've had to adjust and change and strip down the songs in concert. As such, I hardly think they would discount playing Everybody Finds Out for the reasons you stated. A good song is a good song, with or without the studio embelishment. Still, this is all for naught. We'll never hear that song live....for reasons other than yours.

And for the record, I'd love to see the whole album performed live. I'd find nothing boring or "non-transferable" about it!

Oh, by the way...DestinyRules...welcome to the Ledge! lol I hope you're not offended by my comments. I'm a friendly soul...but very passionate about the band, and like to challenge conventional opinions.
