I feel bad when Christine doesn't get the credit she deserves. I bet a lot more people have heard songs by Christine then songs by Stevie! I can't go the mall shopping without hearing "You make Lovin Fun" in the background! I really wish she would have joined FM for this tour and album. I really don't get why so many people never thought of her as a great singer and songwritter, like so many think about Stevie. The only benefit I see Stevie having over Chris is that Stevie is more of a stage performer and is more of an entertainer, you know? But Chris really never made a bad song and never went through a dry spell in her music!

i think Mick has one of the most organic human drumming technique in rock and roll. his sound has made me very happy for so many years. that's all that matters. i'm not interested in his personal life - it's the music that makes the difference. i'm grateful to have been able to be a fan for so many years.

to those of you who keep focussing on the negative - maybe you have too much free time with your lives

I'm not foolish to think he's actually going to try to do me any favors or look out for my best interest. I think that makes him average. The rock stars that actually look out for the fans are the ones operating outside the norm, not Mick Fleetwood.

I pretty much agree with this statement...I would hate to think of Mick as being this malicious 'piece of junk human' who only cares about money and his own well-being....Like him or not...respect him or not...I do believe he has a genuine love for what he does and for this band...maybe Mick has forgotten the reasons why he's started this band....for the love of it and the love of music... not solely for the money...Wealth is a very powerful thing...and it DOES make SOME people crazy...(I wouldn't know any of this first hand however !!) I don't know the man personally, so I can't really comment on what goes on in his head or his heart...(I personally could take him or leave him.)

I too, have not been part of the Fan Club fiasco, and from what I have read...I certainly can understand WHY people feel the way they do...and IT IS an unfortunate thing to have happen...IF Mick IS aware of what is going on and does nothing....then maybe he does derserve a little 'lashing' or whatever punishment y'all deem necessary...;)

And, IMO....Carter Beauford puts ALL drummers to shame :D

If you are refering to the fan club, I doubt very much he is responsible. He is just way to busy to be single handedly running a fan club. I think maybe it was his idea and he was going to be the band member that was the most involved. Still, I think the person who is responsible is that guy who is actually running the financial department and what the "goodies" are that they are giving away. I never signed up for it because I can spot a ripoff a mile away. They don't even send you anything in the mail!

You don't think he is responsible for hiring a schmuck to represent him and Fleetwood Mac? I wholeheartedly don't agree with that. He's 100% responsible for the people he hires to represent him and to make money for him. If the man he hires turns out to be an ass, Mick is responsible for remedying the problem. And on top of that, the rest of the band is responsible for letting this kind of thing take place with their name (Fleetwood Mac) on it. It's ignorance and it's doing them more harm than good, IMO.

First of all, I would like to say that Christine will always be a part of Fleetwood Mac. Even though she is not touring with them or recording with them, she has left her mark. As far as Mick being a 'peice of junk,' well, that isn't really up to me to decide. I do know that I think Mick and John are one of the most solid drum/bass tandems in the industry and I have really not seen many better. What ever he does with his life outside of the band I care not. He is part of my favorite band and that I do respect. Always have and always will. I don't like to pick peoples personal lives apart because we all have a few skelletons in our closets. I am no different but that doesn't make me or Mick any less of a person. Now that I have said that, the music and the legends live on. Just my humble opinion.

Well, it's obvious that someone has to take the wrap for all the BS.
It appears to me that Mick has been
"Officially Appointed" the lucky winner.

AND THE BAND PLAYED ON~

Well, if he took a more vested interest in the things that go on with his name attached, he wouldn't be in such a pickle. ;)

Mick

Mick is a great drummer, and he has held Fleetwood Mac together for what, 36 years? in one form or another.

He just has no head for business. He gets himself mixed up in these crazy deals, hires people like JT, starts business ventures he can't finish like that restaurant here in DC, writes books like My Life and Times in Fleetwood Mac and disses all the members he's mad at. I don't know where that comes from in him.

He also managed to lose millions of the band's money, that's why they all fired him as manager and they have separate managers now.

Poor Johnny-gets no attention and I adore him, too-that funny, quirky little smile..

I think Mick is obnoxious. I don't think his "faces" are funny, I think his "balls" are crude, I am not "with him" , and I hate the way Stevie deferrs to him.

I also don't like how he now introduces Stevie as "Stephanie Nicks". That's not her stage name, she has never referred to herself professionally that way. At the show I was at, people started cheering as Mick pointed to Stevie to introduce her, then people paused when they realized Mick had said Stephanie instead of Stevie, then the cheering picked up again but was not as enthusiastic. I think he took away the intensity of the applause she deserved. I don't understand why he's doing that. If anybody can explain it to me, please do.

No offense but I think some of the audience is plain stupid if they don't realize who he is taking about. Obviously if he is pointing at her and saying her full name, he is talking about stevie. just my two cents.

I didn't say people don't realize who Mick is talking about.

I'm saying that people pause and think "Why did Mick say Stephanie instead of Stevie?" And in that tiny second, momentum is lost.

I'm sure she wants to be referred exactly as he is.

She is responsible for telling him she doesn't like to be introduced that way - who cares what we think if she tolerates or likes it. I think Mick is the king of all pricks, but the Stephanie thing is her doing.

How bad does Mick diss the members he's mad at in his book? With as disgusting as it is, I love reading smut so I think that would be interesting to me.

I thought I remembered reading something about how he wrote about Lindsey bending Stevie over the back of a car and beating the **** out of her or something. I also heard that half the stuff in there is untrue. If I had the luxury of being a serious cokehead for 25 years I could see my memory being a little more than fuzzy. Come to think about it, how did he remember ANYTHING to write a book?

You'd be surprised what Mick can do when someone waves money in his face. ;)

Vianna 09-01-2003 12:04 PM

Mick did not write the book by himself-he had a co-author.

That story about Stevie and Lindsey was mainly what I had in mind when I say he dissed band members he was mad at. At the time he was still mad at Lindsey for quitting so he wanted to make Lindsey look as bad as possible. I do not for one moment believe Lindsey did anything to Stevie except yell at her, and she was yelling too. Mick just put that in there to be mean and sell books.

If you have the "Going Home" video, watch it carefully-Lindsey answers some of Mick's accusations in the video-indirectly. If you've read the book, though, you know what he's referring to.

There was no need for Mick to wash the band's dirty linen in public is my point I guess-he needed money at the time and he did it to get money.

Exactly, Vianna.

I think Lindsey said it perfectly in "Wrong." :)
