Maybe this is the case because "That's Alright" is an older song, recorded in demo-form years before it was used on "Mirage," whereas "Gypsy" seems to have been written for the sessions.

She was already used to singing the former and could, therefore, aproach the old style of singing. ...I don't know if this makes any sense. But I too hear a difference in vocal attack between those songs.

it's possible. her voice is so beautiful on that track ... as it was on that "sleeping angel" demo done with FM around the same time. she did several gypsy demos with tom petty, perhaps that affected the way she sang it on the final take? hmm.

I really like this thread :)

I agree with the person that said anything from 1971-1974 is underrated. There was a ton of good stuff during that time. All of "Time" seems underrated. Most people don't even give it a chance it.

If I am just picking the Rumors line-up songs I would pick these based on the fact that causal fans don't mention these songs and I don't see much love for them on fan boards either.

Lindsey

Blue Letter
Family Man ( Don't find to many fans of this one)
Empire State ( I love this song but most people seem to hate it)
*Most of Tusk*
The Ledge
That's All For Everyone
Walk a Thin Line
I know I'm Not Wrong
What Makes You Think Your the One

Christine

Warm Ways (I was on another board recently and was shocked at how many said they hated this song.)
Honey Hi *I loved every single Chris song on Tusk*
Never Forget
Never Make Me Cry
Isn't it Midnight
Only Over You
Hollywood
Oh Daddy

Stevie

I Don't Want to Know
Straight Back
That's Alright
When I See You Again (Another one that I rarely see get ANY love. I like this song. It grew on me.)
Destiny Rules

Oh Diane

I like all of those songs except "Oh Diane." I wouldn't have considered "Not That Funny" and "Eyes Of The World" overrated when it comes to all kinds of people (causal listeners & more hardcore fans etc). I guess I just have never really seen causal fans say they love those songs like "Landslide" "Go Your Own Way" "Dreams" "Rhiannon" and "Say You Love Me."

For me I would put "Landslide" at the top of the list for " grossly overrated." I don't hate the song but people I know (even those who either don't like FM much or don't know a lot of their songs) like it. It was never a real favorite of mine.

I aboslutely love Never Make Me Cry. Honey Hi, too.

"Tusk" is without a doubt underrated when it comes to those who liked FM because of "The White Album" and "Rumours." The very first time I heard "Tusk" I liked it immediately, esp Christine and Lindsey's songs. I loved just about every single song on the CD. I didn't like all of "Rumours" and TWA that quick, although there were songs on both albums I had really loved. For me "Rumours" also comes after "Tusk."

And "Honey Hi" is such a GREAT song. I have heard some say that was one of the worst "Tusk" songs but I really adore it.

Hey There :wavey:

I am assuming you're talking to me unless someone deleted their post lol. I've been finishing up my fall semester of school. Finally over! Hope you and everyone had a great Christimas.

Well, for me anyway.

a very under-rated song is " I Don't want to know".
only on one CD and never been
played live.

I just love it and it's totally beyond me how it has escaped everyone.
