Phil Lynott, IMHO, was a song writer on par with Bruce Springsteen & Bob Dylan...So what the music Lizzy made was more rock than Bruce/Bob his lyrics were always way-a-head of the times. Plus he always had great guitarists in Lizzy such as Gary Moore (Who in an older interview I have told he bought his first ever Gibson Les Paul from one Peter Green...Who he aw as his mentor!), Scott Gorham, John Sykes, Eric Bell & Brian Robertson

RIP Phil Lynott...

Well said.

Love that song... it's one of my favorites.

"Run" by Snow Patrol- I love, love their newest album.

hayley 11-06-2004 12:05 AM

So weird- I've got my iPod on random, and out of 8,000 songs it chose to play "Now My Heart Is Full"- by the Smiths. Hurrah!

The ever popular...

and politically motivated concept album "Operation:Mindcrime" by Queensryche...

Kinda ironic, But the lyrics from this 1988 classic still apply to the political scene of the US today...Maybe that is part of the reason why a sequel to "Mindcrime" will be released next year.

"Revolution calling,
Revolution calling you.
There's a revolution calling.
A revolution calling. Gotta push, gotta push it
on through."

I just bought that song on iTunes....terrific song. I didn't buy her first album, but if her new stuff sounds like Don't and Breakaway, I may get it. Justin is in final discussions with a record company for his second album...so I'm very happy about that! He is in the new Broadway show, Good Vibrations as well. :)

BTW, Chris Isaak's Wicked Game is on the radio right now.

You need to get her first album. Most of the songs are like Break Away. Miss Independent and and the duet with Tamyra are the only two "fast, popish" songs. I think you would enjoy. :o

Indelibly Stamped by Supertamp. This is second of two albums that predated Crimeof the Century (the album that is often mistakenly identified as their debut)

Elton John-Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player. This is Elton in his prime. The big hits were Daniel and Crocodile Rock but the real gems were have Have Mercy on the Criminal and High Flying Bird.

Aerosmith Get Your Wings. 70's Aerosmith sounds so raunchy.

Oh totally. LOVE Seasons of Wither. Lord of the Thighs is the nasty one  I saw this A cover band called Draw the Line on a booze cruise a couple of years ago. Their singer is a dead ringer for Tyler (looks & voice). They played Seasons and I lost it. They might as well have been the real deal up there. It was something.

I'm listening to the FM Live in Boston show from the DVD.

chiliD 11-09-2004 05:37 PM

What I have in my CD case:

Johnny Winter - Let Me In

Eric Clapton-Timepieces, Vol II (live in the '70's)

PGSG-Soho Sessions

Fleetwood Mac-Tusk

Billy Burnette-Try Me & Soldier Of Love (2 albums on 1 CDR)

What a co-worker loaned me to listen to:

Brian Wilson - Smile

John Lennon - Acoustic

John Lennon - Rock & Roll

Various Artists - Lost Songs of Lennon & McCartney (songs that they wrote that they gave to other artists and never recorded themselves...or at least never officially released themselves)

Various Artists - The Big Box of British Blues (a 2 disc set of various EARLY British blues bands...included Peter Green's "A Fool No More" and Jeremy Spencer's "Look Down At My Woman"...a few EARLY Clapton, Beck & Page things...pre-Yardbirds stuff...some REAL early Savoy Brown things, etc)

Nancy Sinatra's cover of Morrissey's "Let Me Kiss You," off her amazing new album. Kicks ASS. I'd recommend it to anyone.

estranged4life 11-10-2004 03:54 PM

The clever lyrics...

of the song "Back When" (Written by Jeff Stevens, Stephony Smith & Stan Lynch) from the new Tim McGraw release "Live Like You Were Dying"...

Here's the chorus:

"Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
Crack's what you were doing when you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
When you said, "I'm down with that", If meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when"

Right now, I'm listening to Asturias played by Segovia, he keeps surprising me.
