My album also had the solos. When I bought the CD 12 years later I did not notice a difference.

This thread is fascinating because you could not limit this to Mirage. Some of his endings are frustrating because once he starts to get cooking, the song fades out. Songs like Tango In The Night, Family Man, The Smile I Live For, Isn't It Midnight - I wish there were at least 30 more seconds of his play. Even solo songs like Doing What I Can just fade out this incredible guitar playing that just starts. Its always been a frustration of mine. My favorite songs are when Lindsey jams.

His fade outs on the above are maddeningly painful. Just play!

A-men
Bingo
Ding ding ding
Winner winner chicken dinner

My biggest frustration with the band. This is what made their live concerts pre-Dance so spectacular. Its still there but not at the same level pre-Dance.

Christine's shows were the best of the three because they JAMMED!!!

Just imagine if the last 30 seconds of Go Your Own Way was faded out.
It would have been the biggest mistake of music.

It would have been another lonely day. :(

I’m the one person who picked Empire State. The song is trash (entertaining trash) but the outro guitar solo is hot stuff.

But I think most of Lindsey’s Mirage guitar work is pretty tasteful. Gypsy, Only Over You, Eyes, and Book of Love all feature distinctive guitar. And the baroque guitar figures in Hold Me are inspired.

Countdown has a great solo at the end too. Weird chicken squawky sound.

Yes, indeed.

I went with GYPSY because I really don’t think I would like that song as much if the banjo line weren’t part of it. With all the other songs, I would still love them without an outro — the outro is gravy. But the banjo part (not played on an actual banjo) is indispensable to Gypsy.

This is an absolute standout in my "book"--very glad to see it get some votes despite the hot competition! A searing sound like that heard in Countdown. Guitar acrobatics, beautifully integrated into the rhythms of the song.

Went with this one in the end (vs. Hold Me). I love Gypsy of course (who doesn't?) but I prefer the longer/unedited version from the deluxe set rather than the standard release.
