I'm hesitant between Family Man and Empire State. Maybe the latter.

Not That Funny...not that good. Except for On With The Show, Lindsey has insisted on performing that song on every recent tour.

Make Me A Mask
Caroline
Oh Diane

I love Not That Funny, especially the extended live versions of the Tusk and Mirage tours.

Empire State.

Family Man has some really nice acoustic playing.

I agree. The guitar solos save the song.

Save Me A Place

I'm a big fan of quirky Lindsey - stuff like Empire State, Teen Beat, Family Man - I love it. What I don't care for is the whiny, pitiful side of Lindsey. The version of Save Me A Place on the Alternate Tusk from the new box set is great, though.

So you like the song or you don't like the song? Wouldn't the alternate version still be whiny and pitiful?

No. They are completely different vocals and instrumentation. Production is everything. I don't like what ended up on Tusk - it takes about 5 seconds for me to reach for the 'next' button.

I must be one of the few people who love Family Man and Empire State. Those songs are always on dislike lists.

shackin'up 01-18-2016 06:18 PM

Oh Diane.
Or Caroline.

Family Man is a turd in a golden nest. It's embedded in pure guitarbeauty.

I adore Empire State.

Lee 01-18-2016 06:49 PM

Now I don't have all his solo stuff, but I really dislike the Family Man. And oh yeah, Come, I skip that all the time. Some of the ones mentioned, I just can't believe. To each his own I guess, but I really like Big Love & I'm So Afraid. The guitar alone on I'm So Afraid is awesome, I think. Seeing it live is really better.

Lee :)

A tie between Empire State (just don't like it) and Oh Diane (not fit to be a Mac song).

I LOVE Empire State, too. I can't even explain why. I just do.

It reminds me very much of Lindsey's Go Insane album, which was a favorite of mine after I discovered it in my teen years.

michelej1 01-18-2016 10:41 PM

Yes, I didn't know that Empire State was considered bottom of the pile. I'm fine with it.

As for Family Man, I am a a lyric person. I can get past lyrics, but doing so is the exception for me, not the rule.

Or, I can embrace a song that has very sparse or trite lyrics, if they're sung passionately. But I can rarely just focus on the music and find the lyrics or singing secondary. Michele
