I think their relationship is mostly work and tour related, but I think they do have fun together during the shows (when they're not doing stuff to piss each other off). Clearly, the less they are fighting, the more they play up their relationship on stage. You can tell when they are on better or worse terms. I think a lot of their issues nowadays are mostly stupid little spats that come down to sensitivity regarding each other... The same way my mom will innocently say something and it gets totally under my skin even though I know she didn't mean anything, truthfully. Any time they poke fun at each other there's a 50/50 chance as to whether it is met with a laugh or total offense.

Fleetwood Mac rocker Stevie Nicks returned to “School of Rock” days after attending the musical’s opening night.

Spies said she and pals headed backstage after the show, where Nicks was gushing to the young cast.

“She joked to 12-year-old guitar prodigy Brandon Niederauer that ‘[Fleetwood Mac guitarist] Lindsey Buckingham is scared you’re going to take his job!’ ”

No word if those born in the “noughties” ever heard of the band behind ’70s classics “Rumors” and “Tusk.”

There has to be some sentiment there. Stevie is still writing songs about him after all. But on stage I think that a lot of it is an act. They make sure it gets seen. The audiences enjoy it - it's part of what a lot of them go to see.

Christine coming back to the band may have helped. It's probably helped balance them out and it's less of a 'boys club'.

This was part of the Rolling Stone piece from earlier this year. They really are living out 'The Chain'. It sounds a bit like Lindsey was sulking because Stevie was on the Rolling Stone cover on her own, and the rest of the band not included.

Working title for Lindsey's upcoming autobiography...

Chalk that up to personal experience.

What I don't get is if it's so fake and all an act, why does Lindsey who does not seem like a push over who would be bullied or cohersed into anything he didn't want to do, initiate and continually promote this kind of affection onstage especially the Sara hugs etc, when he would know it would humiliate and upset his wife?

it's called show business for a REASON . You would be quite surprised at what you have been sold by the machine that runs the entertainment industry

He's been pretty clear it's all an act. He was asked once in an interview if it was confusing to his kids that he's onstage hugging or whatever this other person and he said no, they understand that it's all an act, a show. So if young kids (at the time) could get it, I'm sure the wife does. That act brings in the ka-ching.

There's no business like show business I know....

The more they act this out, the more people lap up the creepiness of it.

The fake kisses and affection on stage don't hurt Lindsey's wife, any more than an actor who kisses an actress in a play or movie hurts that actor's wife. Everyone knows it's a kiss between two characters, not between the two real people.

Same deal here. They see that the crowd goes nuts over the fake Lindsey-Stevie shows of affection, and that sells tickets, and ka-ching!

Stevie feeds the fire by making statements about the eternal romance of the love she and Lindsey share. Oh please, give me a break. People actually believe this nonsense? Obviously this "romance" fits in with Stevie's witchy, gauzy persona, but I don't believe even she really feels this way. Underneath all that lace she's a cold, calculating, and very successful businesswoman.

Personally, I am a fan of this band because I like their music, and I would be thrilled to see the end of the fake eternal-romance stuff.
