Just had to say there is NO pan flute on Oh Daddy. That's an organ.

And yes, while I can believe this 18 year old hasn't heard 3/4 of the songs on Rumours, it's hard for me to imagine that the child of musicians so clearly influenced by at least one strain of Mac's music wouldn't know Dreams, GYOW, and Don't Stop. Those tunes are ubiquitous.

Yeah he's a child of a musician, but I mean, maybe Jeff Tweedy never bought a Fleetwood Mac album, he just heard them in his car growing up etc. And this guy is my little sister's age, roundabouts, and she had never heard "Go Your Own Way" before I played it for her (where would she get it, Forest Gump? That came out when she was <1) . These songs were ubiquitous classics when I was a little kid, ie on classic rock radio, commercials, so on, but it's less and less so.

18 is young enough to have grown up almost entirely on internet radio.

ETA: Also he did say that he had heard "Dreams" and "Never Going Back Again" before, so he did know a couple at least.

I'd be shocked at someone not ever hearing Go Your Own Way but I work with a girl that is 25 who never heard of Paul McCartney before. At 33, I felt ancient - or that I was being punk'd.

She also never watched Forrest Gump.

I hear Fleetwood Mac every day and I am not the one playing them. They may not be on classic rock radio, but they are still anywhere you go where they play music, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. They seem to be on all the satellite radio stations that are played in public places.

But I agree with you Redbird that I don't think the guy was a jerk or anything. I just think he must have been kept in a dungeon or something.

Thanks for posting.
Wilco might be my favorite live band. They are amazing live.
Go see them if you get the chance.
