I agree about Stand Back. I love Stevie, and have seen her solo too, but my experience last night made me loathe this number live. For whatever reason, this song makes everyone and their mother come barging down the aisles... And for what? I had so much fun last night, but I couldn't help but think about Lindsey's solo performances once or twice, even at the concert! Wishing I was there... I love the big arena type vibe, but nothing can top his one man show. To really feel his guitar through your whole body is something else. So Afraid in a small theatre? Please, earth shattering amazingness :D
It would be amazing if they played Frozen Love or added in some more from Tusk, both of which I'm sure would never happen, but it's a nice thought. :D |

I think I am as happy as I could realistically be with the set list- love the inclusion of Sad Angel, Say Goodbye, Not That Funny, Sisters, Gypsy, and Sara. If I had to choose a song to be dropped, it would be Stand Back in favor of Seven Wonders.

I too wish for Stand Back to be omitted. It sounds lousy (especially the Mac version) and is not a Mac song. I realise that a live version was included on the The Chain box set so that technically makes it part of their released back catalogue (just as Go Insane was done with The Dance), but it is undeniably a solo track.
Seven Wonders is the obvious track to replace it and if done with a little intensity, would suffice as an energetic addition (the inclusion of Stand Back is often defended for this reason). Seven Wonders is such a neglected song - everyone I know, regardless of whether they like Stevie or the Mac, seems to really dig this song. Apart from anything else, it was a hit single and we know how much Stevie cherishes the big sellers. It's exclusion just mystifies me. Whilst I disagree with the old warhorses being constantly dragged out, I understand the reason for them being performed at every concert. I just think that the shows should be peppered with more interesting (Mac) material and these complimentary songs could be alternated from week to week. That way, we could be treated to the likes of Crystal, I Don't Want To Know, The Ledge, What Makes You Think You're The One?, Walk A Thin Line, That's Alright, Thrown Down, Destiny Rules and a heap of other underrated (seemingly by the band) songs. The more I think about this, the more convinced I am that they are a bunch of lazy bastards. |
PS I also despise the arrogance of Stevie thinking we should be wetting ourselves over the inclusion of one swapped "classic" every five years. We all knew she was out of touch, but she simply must be deranged.
Also, while I think of it, the best thing about the setlist in my opinion is the absence of Soldier's Angel. I felt certain it was going to be shoved down our throats for this tour and wonder why it didn't make the final cut. Let's hope the other three had organised an intervention of honesty and confessed to Stevie just how odious this wretched littly ditty truly is. She really ought to be horse-whipped for committing such an atrocity. |
I think that if SS starts to strain her at some point, she will switch it with Soldier's Angel. I would not mind that change at all, since I've seen SS so many times, but I realize that casual fans would be disappointed by it.

I'm all for alternating, especially due to vocal strain, but if she introduced Soldier's Angel, well then... I'd never speak to her again!!

Seven Wonders would be a great song to add, as TITN album is sorely lacking on recent Mac tours, except for Big Love. Stevie didn't write the song and it was only done on the TITN tour. It's such an '80's song though, so translating it on the stage in 2013 would be really hard. TITN gets a bad rep for being "dated" so that hurts the albums chance of being futured more. Also with Christine gone, Everywhere and Little Lies can't really be done.

I would tweak the set list a little bit like so:
Second Hand News The Chain Dreams Sad Angel Never Going Back Again Rhiannon Eyes of the World Not That Funny Sara Big Love Landslide Without You Stand Back Tusk Gold Dust Woman So Afraid Gypsy Go Your Own Way Silver Springs World Turning Don't Stop Sisters of the Moon Say Goodbye |
they NEED to throw in 80's stuff like Seven Wonders. People my age are longing for that era! time to show the 80's work some love! esp. Tango tracks

I was somewhat hoping "Soldier's Angel" would replace "Stand Back" as the Stevie solo song. Or that FM might sneak in "You Can't Fix This" since Stevie started singing it with Dave Grohl and company earlier this year.
However, I've also made the same point in another thread here that "Stand Back" is almost as much a Fleetwood Mac staple as it is a Stevie solo staple. Besides the fact that I know of several big bands who have included solo material from their band members, "Stand Back" is a song Fleetwood Mac has been doing long enough to be one of their songs too. Then again, I also wanted "Fall From Grace" and "Ghosts Are Gone" to replace "Stand Back" in recent Fleetwood Mac sets, so I digress. |
