Paphides asked him about ken's statement that LB sucks the fun out of every room and then he qualifies it by saying that what that must have meant is that when LB comes into studio there's no more fun just work. LB acknowledges that and says - sure, i'm very serious about the work.

at the end when asked whether he'd be open to working with stevie again, he says that he'd love to and asks Pete Paphides to put in a good word for him when he's talking to her... and then he stops himself in the middle of sentence and says - ah you already talked to her? and laughs. Paphides says - yeah, and stevie is making all the right noises... then LB says - oh good... b/c i've written a bunch of songs that i'd like her to hear and that we can record together... and that it would be circular to come back where they started and that he hopes they do. he doesn't make it completely clear whether that would be FM or BN, since he also mentions that S and L relationship has been a subtext in FM from the start.

so it sound like LB is open to either thing... and that his incredibly prolific phase of the last few years is still going strong if not stronger than ever!! :]:] the guy is just unbelievable - the studio album, the DVD + live CD, plus different shows he's been doing for the last year - plus bunch of new songs?! wow!! :thumbsup:

oh, just noticed that David Lowery also shared the link to the interview on his FB page - he was also interviewed for this, and LB was asked whether he heard CVB's Tusk (he did, thought it was interesting where they took some songs and that it was a huge complement) and what he thought about what Lowery said. Lowery said that the production of Tusk was at the same time great and horrible. LB said that's not inaccurate considering he was kinda going for no production.

I listened to it, and I can't explain it. It didn't come across that way at all to me :shrug: The tweeter just sounds like a Lindsey hater...so what's new?

How many million people who own Rumours have no idea what the next Fleetwood Mac record even sounds like? 1979’s Tusk was a double platinum album but achieved nothing like the same level of popularity, despite a stupendous million-dollar budget. Having given the world the beautiful sound of the group falling apart, Tusk was the misshapen fragments that were left.

In-the-know fans now adore its jarring mix of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie’s lovely sketches and band leader Lindsey Buckingham’s deranged, punky polkas — and Buckingham himself has mellowed enormously and says he’s proud of this odd masterpiece.

More music and money: on Radio 4, Pete Paphides continued Follow-Up Albums, his short series on difficult follow-up albums, with Fleetwood Mac's Tusk. After the enormous success of Rumours, which sold more than 40m copies, Tusk is known as "Fleetwood's folly": a sprawling double album that "only" clocked up 4m sales. Stevie Nicks was as cool as she always is – I worship that woman – and at the end of the programme Paphides managed to get both her and Mick Fleetwood to say, separately, that they'd be up for making another LP. The day Tusk was released was declared by the mayor of LA to be "Fleetwood Mac Day". That would never happen again. But they might get a bit of spare bunting.

As a Christine fan, I have to say I loved the bit where Stevie says, "Christine was in charge...She was the only one people would listen to."

I'm assuming she was speaking of the work atmosphere and not so much about the musical direction. The interview makes clear that Lindsey was the master of that. I didn't think he sounded like a pompous ass, either.

I also don't know why Stevie and Ken in particular think Lindsey looked strange with his hair cut. He looked 100 times better, in my opinion. Maybe that first homemade haircut was just badly done?

I disagree with Ken that the album should have had a brighter sound (like Rumours). Tusk's dark strangeness is its appeal.
