I'm so tone deaf that I just lip sync the tambourine.
|
I'm tone deaf too but that doesn't stop me from wailing away, Chiffon Head that I am, to all the Stevie tunes. And I sing her harmony & backing vocal parts in Chris & Lindsey's songs.
|
I'm another one who prefers the back vocals, with some noble exceptions like Beautiful Child where I sing all the parts :D

I like to do Stevie and sometimes Lindsey, but when I sing "The Chain," I like to do Chris' part the most.

The great thing about Stevie/Lindsey songs (Dreams, Angel, Beautiful Child, Crystal, etc. etc.) is that you can sing the lead while you're driving and be all into it, and when you pull up to a red light next to someone you can switch to 'back-up' and tune it down a notch so they don't see you  As for the guitar solos, I almost passed out trying to sing along to the guitar at the end of "Gypsy" one time. It's quite a load! "Eyes of the World" and "Wrong" are a lot of fun to sing too, and "Don't Let Me Down Again" which I think is one of my personal fav's. Awesome question :-) |

this is a great thread....i was just thinking this to myself the other day. i've always felt sort of funny all these years singing to stevie tunes....and i'm man enough to admit it! who cares anyway.
so....i sing whatever notes my voice allows me. sometimes i have good days and can sing in a higher key than others. on those days i sing the highest part of the harmony. on gyow, obviously i sing Lindsey's lead but i usually end up doing the middle part of the chorus. i'll attempt to do the high part but it's not always easy. sometimes you can hit a note and hold it there but you lose it when you have to enunciate the rest of the words. i can pretty much do Lindsey on the chain except the "still (hear you saying)" part i have to really concentrate. sometimes i'll end up doing stevie's part if it aint workin otherwise. i've never taken voice lessons but it's something i'm interested in for sure. i love singing. i can hold a note and think i have a decent voice. got cut the smokes out. maybe i'll take lessons one of these days. |
I have a husky voice, so I always sing the Stevie parts. :p

On another note, I will also admit to doing little moves/dances that I've seen them do while singing a particular song. Mainly Stevie looking out of the corner of her eye during the Chain on the Tusk Doc. And I've been known to play air guitar or pound the keys on a table (aka: fake piano) with the best of them... Paula |

a) The over-the-head tambourine during EOTW b) Jazz hands during Gypsy No matter what moves I do, though, I still sound like Gail's poor cat.... |
