How could we forget you, you've been milking the same tour for a year and a half.
Thank the lord you're getting off the road, you're beginning to suffer from overkill. Make some new music already! |

if there's anything i managed to learn in my old age, is that (one way or another) fleetwood mac lasts forever.
when they cancelled their concert here on the TITN tour, i KNEW that that's it, and i'll never get to see them. a few years later, when i did see them on The Dance tour, i clearly realized that it was a 'once and for all' thing, but then again, i enjoyed this tour much better. both stevie and lindsey seem as vibrant as ever, and john and mick are always free, so i tend to agree with Kelly and Vianna. in FM's case one can never say never. |
Early on at the Camden show, Stevie said that 'tonight and a show the day after tomorrow will be the last shows we will be doing for a while.' That hardly sounds like she is shutting the door on Fleetwood Mac at all. If the past is any indication, like the "Behind the Mask Tour" for example, if this was truly FM's swansong, they would have milked it for all it's worth (or at least Mick would have). And Stevie even joked at the beginning of Landslide that she was training Jessi to be her replacement in the band.
In a way I would like to think that the fact that Christine just put out such a strong solo album has raised the bar. Yes, they are all probably very friendly with one another, but as singing/songwriting musicians, they are also probably quite competitive. And Christine has also proven that you can be a rock 'n' roller in your sixties and be at the top of your game without becoming some kind of a pathetic parody of your old self. Will Lindsey and Stevie be able to pull this off so well? Only time will tell... |

There is also a quote from Mojo on the back that says "Just so we know she means business, McVie leaves no doubt that she's shut the door on her past. The songs crackle with ire, indignation, and with none of the frothy self-deception of the past." Later in the concert, I spotted the girl who had been handing them out over by Sharon and Jana's mics so it would appear to me, the girl was hired by the band to distribute the flyers. Perhaps she's someones family member? Not sure. At any rate, I thought it was very cool of the band to be spreading the word that Christine is back with a new album. |

Why WOULDN'T they? More interest in Christine's album keeps the "Fleetwood Mac" name in people's minds whether she's in the band or not. I just wish that the "Fleetwood Mac machine" would STILL be as honoring of ALL ex-members (for just ONE instance: now that all the fences are mended, get the RnRHoF to amend Fleetwood Mac's induction to include Bob Welch), but, that's just me. |

Why wouldn't they? Couldn't you just hear Mick, "Chrissy darling, I'm so sorry but it's going to cost far too much to print up those flyers...." ;) I never could understand why they would include Peter and not Bob...always confused me a bit. |

His compositions most certainly kept the band a respectable commodity. |

My prediction ? Stevie writes this fall. She goes into the studio in mid-spring. Works on record 4 or five months. Producer is fired or bails. Second producer comes in. Record is tweaked on until late 2005. Record comes out mid spring 2006. She tours. Sends Mac songs from road. They work on her songs and Lindsey's endlessly-tinkered-with unfinished tracks. She records vocals in late 2006 after her tour. Record out spring of 2007. Summer tour. Lindsey solo album - once again shuttled in Mac project.
Considering history, this is being optimistic ! |
I will always and forever be ashamed of Fleetwood Mac for not doing whatever it took to make sure Bob Welch was on that list (RRHoF). I won't go into how important and vital he was to getting them to the LB SN era. It is a huge slap in the face.

I respect Lori's decision to leave the road to raise Jessica, but I'm glad she's finally been deemed old enough to go on tour (or stay with grandma and grandpa  ) because I wanna see me some Lori!!! Maybe having the original trio (Stevie, Lori, Sharon) back together on the road will lead to some creative setlist choices? I can dream, can't I? |
