I was so excited when I heard DLMDA was in the setlist and then bummed when I heard it was dropped. I can understand their probable reasoning, though. Yeah, maybe if they explained a bit of the background of it, people may be more receptive. I still think Frozen Love would go over well no matter what!

They seem to not be into the country flavored stuff. I don't know, i think they're making a huge mistake ignoring some of these chestnuts (that sounds really dorky but i'm just waking up). Speaking of which, i just had a dream this morning that they put "DLMDA" back in the set. I WAS dreaming. Since this tour is the first to focus on the B/N lineup, they really NEED to do something from the B/N album. I'm afraid the problem is that they've ignored these songs for so long that they're completely indifferent to them now. You know, it reminds me of Genesis. I'm a really big fan of the early days with Peter Gabriel, and then the first few albums with Collins taking over. But if you look at either of their (Collins or Gabriel) setlists now, they don't even venture into their "wardrobe" (you older folks will know what i mean by that). "i know what i like....." |

There's probably no turning back for them now -- all four of them probably think their set list is a "healthy mix" of old & new, known & unknown. Their perceptions (particularly Lindsey's) seem to have changed. |
Unfortunately the Mac hasn't been too unique with their setlists basically since Rumours. The running order changes each tour in the middle of the set, but it's been virtually the same set for over twenty years.
It's not to say that they don't throw something odd in on each tour. "Don't Let Me Down Again," "I Loved Another Woman" on the TITN tour for one, "Silver Springs" being resurrected in '97, and "Beautiful Child" over the last year are some that I can think of. But that's one of twenty five songs... "Don't Let Me Down Again" sounded flat on the bootleg. Nothing like the live album or the '88 versions of it. Stevie goes on and on introducing "Beautiful Child" but nothing to say to the audience about a song that was released on an album that didn't sell well and was released in 1973!? And as for new stuff, they just won't stick with any of it. Personally, I feel a lot of that blame falls on the audience and the state of radio in general. Classic Rock artists have a miserable time these days introducing new music. The music might be good but nobody gets to hear it. I really enjoy "Peacekeeper," but it got about three weeks of air play on the local CR station, and I haven't heard it since. Once in a while older rockers get lucky and have a song that gets airplay and is recognized by the average fan ("Silver Springs" IMO is one of those songs, another is "The Rising" by Springsteen). The audience doesn't know new songs at all, so they can't dance/sing to them at the shows...in turn the band doesn't get audience feedback, and drops the songs ("Destiny Rules," "Running Through the Garden"). Bleh...now I'm fired up. IMHO, there are a few songs that have to be played: The Chain, Dreams, Rhiannon, and Go Your Own Way (if Chris were around, Don't Stop and YMLF). The Mac without these songs is the Stones without Satisfaction and JJF, Bruce without Born to Run, The Eagles without Hotel California, and so on. Besides those four songs, the rest of the set should be totally reworked. It's old and tired. :distress: |

Oh! That little tiny stuff is writing! And it doesn't bring up a 'hand" link thing over it either, adding to my confusion. Maybe it's time to get glasses.....or a bigger monitor! |
