I never knew what this song was about! So Anne Heche hey.. now yes this may be a well known fact but what does Anne Heche have to do with Lindsey??

Lindsey & Anne dated for a while around 1992/1993. :)

I never took it that way at all, but I can see where you draw that interpretation from.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's about Anne Laffoon. :)

If that is what the song is about, I find it rather ironic that Stevie had no qualms singing about child abuse but refused to sing about sex on "Come." :laugh:

Why would she have a problem singing on something so deep and meaningful as "Miranda"?

"Come," by Lindsey's own admission, isn't the nicest of songs... so it doesn't surprise me that she wouldn't want to sing on a fairly bitter, "kiss-off" song, that could easily be interpreted as being about her.

Obviously, for one reason or another, Stevie had no worries that "Miranda" was about her. :) :nod:

To be frank, I think "Miranda" is one of Lindsey's fluffiest tunes; I don't see a thing "deep" and "meaningful" about it. It's just more weird stuff from the genius we call Lindsey, nothing more, nothing less. JMO. Then again, I think it's quite difficult for someone to write a song about child abuse and not make it seem superficial and out of place.

I never thought it was about child abuse per se. I thought of it as a song about someone mentally and emotionally tortured. I disagree on the fluff. The lyrics and the music both creep me out.

Hmmm... I had always assumed it was about Carol Ann, mostly because of the following lines:

She sticks the camera right into her arm
....
She sees her face in another magazine

Wasn't Carol Ann a photographer and a model?
But these could both apply to Anne Heche, too.

"Oh Diane" would fall into that category, but "Miranda" sure wouldn't!

This song is friggin' brilliant, and one of the best songs Lindsey has ever written, lyrically.
I mean, wow... there is SO much going on there, I can't believe anyone would ever use a term like "fluff" to describe it! :eek:Tell that to Suzanne Vega ("Luka") and Pat Benatar ("Hell Is For Children")!

By the way, I should add that I don't feel that "Miranda" is about child abuse, but rather about a woman who was abused as a child.

Maybe fluff was the wrong word. LOL :laugh: The lyrics are alright, but they always left me rather cold. I always thought they were rather dull, as if he was trying to say "Hey, don't you get how brilliant these are?" Some of them seem asinine in places, but it's just personal taste. However, I love the song itself because the music is breathtaking. If you wanna talk good lyrics, let's talk "Peacekeeper" and "Murrow." :D

I'm rather shocked that you cited "Hell Is For Children" as a great song about child abuse. I adore Pat Benatar, but she really wrote a stinker with that song. What a contrived piece of drivel. Nothing like taking the message, whacking you over the head with it a few times, and then shoving it down your throat.

"Peacekeeper" and "Murrow" also have tremendous lyrics, of course... but I put "Miranda" right there with them. :)See, I've always felt that it was pretty darn good, even if the lyrics aren't necessarily the most ambiguous.
But then, ambiguity really wasn't the point of that song.

Ironically, it must have been just vague enough, given that religious groups protested because they thought it was about worshiping satan!!! :laugh:

I saw that on her BTM episode and laughed my ass off!!! Her hubby was funny, "Yeah, all children are going to HELL!" :laugh:
