The state of The Mac these days is pretty sad; smae rehearsed speeches and movements every night with not even the slightest deviation and the setlist has been played to death, to the point where us fans can recite it whenever someone mentions this tour. :laugh:

Well, I am sorry but you could not pay me to see Madonna but thats just me. I do not have any musical artist that makes me feel anywhere close to how the Mac makes me feel. Like I said that's just me. I know where I'll be this spring. :nod:
If you really want to see something different however then the Madonna show might be the way to go. Just curious how much is a ticket to see her?

Do whatever pleases you, whatever it may be. :) When I saw Madonna three years ago, I got the ticket given to me, but it was $185. Of course, that was third row, too.

I think it's a wise idea to refrain from calling anyone a "cheap whore"... certainly there are other ways to express an opinion.

But please especially refrain from making such comments directly to another Ledge.

By the way, male rock stars and athletes have been legendary in their sexual conquests... why is a female who's also had multiple partners considered a "whore"?

It's not how I'd want to live my life, but there are worse things one could do.

Also, Madonna may be "just" a Top 40 pop singer, but she has also written a large majority of her own material.
She's an all-around entertainer, and while her singing skills may be limited, she certainly has a great deal of talent.

She's never going to be everyone's cup of tea (who is? Certainly not Fleetwood Mac!), but to write her off because of the style of music she records, or because she's considered a "whore," is being pretty shortsighted.
But that's just my opinion. :)

Well, ya know, if I had a dollar for every time, in every newsgroup post, internet article, and conversation, over the years, for every time I've heard/seen her called a whore, I would be one rich man!:nod:
She uses her twat to sell music. Period.
I remember in high school, people used to say, "Oh, I know why you like FM"- referring to Stevie being so sexy and beautiful, that THAT was surely the main reason why I liked FM. I found it, and continue to find it, to be downright insulting. Not only to me, but to FM.
Music is probably the most important thing in my life, and I cherish it. To cheapen it with debauchery and sensationalism, is sacrilege. I call a spade a spade.

I'm not going to deny that Madonna has certainly used her sex appeal in the marketing of her music... but just as it's wrong to write off Stevie's talent because she also happens to be an attractive and sexy woman, it's also wrong to write off Madonna's. Though the two definitely have very different approaches.

But does one dismiss Prince's talent because of his overt sexuality?
Then why do it to Madonna?

We're not talking about someone like Samantha Fox or Britney Spears here... I think Madonna has proven that she has the chops to be considered a respected artist, even if you don't care for her approach.

I know where you're coming from in regards to your disdain of music being cheapened with debauchery and sensationalism... I take music pretty seriously too.
But I don't think Madonna's appeal is only surface. There's depth to a large portion of her work, if one looks past the attention given to the various controversies, etc.

She's written about the death of her mother at an early age, her distant and troubled relationship with her father, and her abusive, volatile first marriage... as well as social issues such as prejudice and AIDS.

That's pretty deep subject matter for someone who's nothing more than a "cheap whore."

My suggestion... get your hands on songs like "Till Death Do Us Part," "Oh Father," "Promise To Try," "Why's It So Hard," "In This Life," "This Used To Be My Playground," and "Has To Be"... put any preconceived notions you have of Madonna on hold, and give them a good listen.
You might find that you actually like them. :nod:

Anyone that is nothing but a cheap whore and completely talentless could not still be recording successful albums in their mid 40s. And Madonna has recorded some amazing songs, I thinkk her Ray Of Light album proves that. And although I do like Stevie more, I think Madonna is amazing and my second favorite musical act after Fleetwood Mac.

She writes children's books, how much of a whore could she be?

If Madonna is your second favorite musical act then I think you should go to her concert. You know Fleetwood Mac will be doing the same show every night so you should check out Madonna's concert and experience something different. She will definitely put on a show and will probably be entertaining if you like her.

WHEN is Madonna tourning, what are the dates, the schedual, I was just on ticketmaster and they didn't have anything?!

Oh yeah, I am a big Madonna fan, and would love to see her live, as for the comments made about her it's like I tell my friends I LOVE her MUSIC not her lifestyle. Of course same goes for most of the musicians I love. One thing in Madonnas defense she never ended up involved in drugs, at least not publicly.

Ah...my two favorite artists! Hoping to see both Madonna (for the first time) and Fleetwood Mac's Irvine show this summer (for my second time this tour).
