But you know, being about 15 when "Little Lies" was released as a single, I remember buying it at Woolworth's, and thinking that Stevie's hair on the cover was just about the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
I mean, remember this was 1987, and it was totally fashionable for a woman to have her hair all coifed on top, with straight extensions and color streaks. Stevie did it, Ann & Nancy Wilson did it, Cyndi Lauper did it (in her own inimitable way)... and heck, half the girls I knew tried to do it (they never did quite succeed)!

At the time, it was just really hip, really glamorous "rock star hair"... it's easy to laugh at it now, but at the time, it was ultra-stylish and cool. :nod:

(Now, where did I put my old parachute pants, and the shirt with all the buckles? Hmm.......)

Oh yeah....you had to have the parachute pants....i had a grey pair and that was it....didn't really have any other trendy stuff....no Michael Jackson jacket.

When i saw the "i can't wait" video, now THAT was the coolest hair i had ever seen. It must have taken her hours to get that style....I've seen pics of the RAL tour in the beginning and she wore her it that way but it didn't last long....must have been a hassle....

Personally, i don't waste time laughing at the styles of yesterday because those styles were the fashion. It's ridiculous to take something from 20 years ago and make fun of it because, yes, nowadays it isn't in style. Sorry, i just remember when people laughed at the styles of the 70's (platforms, bell bottoms etc) in the 1980s....then you know what? it all came back in style.

Anyway, sorry to be sensitive. Not feeling so good today. Carry on.

There are LOTS of Stevie photos on Ebay right now and many of them have *ahem* hair issues. :laugh:

Yikes! The only person who looked good then was John!

Sorry for all of you who lived through it...I didn't. I love the 70s fashion...but the 80s?...*shudder*

Even I had them. A grey pair and a black pair. Plus my 80s hair was so big I carried a comb or brush in the pocket. (And folks thought I was just happy to see them.;) )

Philly in the 80s...EVERY girl in my high school had that hairstyle.
To this day I still rather like it.

[B]That video is really my first concrete memory of them. I tell this story a gazillion times on here....anyway, it was on solid gold back in 1980. It was filmed at the now nonexistent Checkerdome in St.Louis, MO on 11-6-79. The show on 11-5 was filmed also. They combined the footage from both shows for the Documentary and Live Concert home video that came out in 1981. You really should pick it up if you get the chance.

Any chance i could get a copy of this from somone?

~~~~kezzie~~~~ :)
I can't remember whether I read it somewhere or saw it an interview, but that "bun" hairstyle was actually a wig that Stevie used for the Tusk tour. Of course, I could be wrong.
There's actually some rare backstage footage from the 'Tusk' tour floating around out there, where Stevie shows exactly how she pins her hair to achieve that look... and it's her real hair. :)
I don't think she started using extensions and falls (and, in some cases, full-on wigs) until the mid-80s.
I take that back... the footage I was thinking of was actually from the 'Rumours' tour, while the band was in Japan.
Still, I imagine the technique she demonstrated in that footage was similar to what she must have used to achieve the "Sara" look.
And given the texture of her hair in photos from the 'Tusk' tour, I think it's safe to say it is really hers. :)
Was that the one where she says something like its really simple, but if you have to think about how to do it, you can't? That may have been in a print interview.
wigs? when did she wear wigs? any pictures of her with wigs?
The saddest thing
This is the only video, with the exception of the bits and pieces of LL, by FM did I ever see on VH1.
Hey, I was (and still) elated about seeing it anyway! :D
