I just watched it again...how cool is Stevie and FM in this clip..this clip is the PERFECT example of why I became a huge fan in 77.

Does anyone know how well the Fleetwood Mac white album was doing at that point. I know it hit number a while after it was released, (I think at the end of the year 76) I'm just wondering how big they were at this point.

when Vh-1 was featuring some of the Midnight Special episodes several years ago, i happen to catch the very tail end of the 1973 episode. It was the last minute of "Believe Me." I've never seen it since. I managed to tape it though, as short as it was.

I remember something to the effect that the White Album had set a record for the length of time it debuted on the charts to the time it took to get to number 1. I think once "Rhiannon" was released as a single, people started to take more notice of FM and their star began to take an accelerated rise. Just my foggy recollection. Maybe someone else wants to take a stab.

I think their constant touring to support the White Album also helped it reach #1.

Oh yea, completely agree. They were on the road constantly. I remember someone in the band, I think Stevie, saying that they knew they were selling thousands of records after each concert. The vibe was that good. :nod:

I think alot of younger people (ie: teens) who listen to todays music need to watch this performance of Rhiannon, as i don't think there are ANY mainstream bands with female lead singers today, that can belt it out like Stevie Nicks did in this version of Rhiannon.

This is why i think Pink is going to go a long way. She has a distinctive voice and, although i've never heard or seen her live, she can definitely belt it out on record! Her sound really sets her apart from the typical lolly-pop Britney Spears crowd!!

On another note, i think it is unfair that we don't get these sort of clips on the Cable TV music channels we have in Australia!!!!

That's because you don't have it all yet. Your mailbox is full:eek: . Create a new folder on your desktop and save the attachment I sent you to it. Delete them from your emailbox, and I'll send you more. I think I only got 3 of 9 files sent to you, before I got the mailbox full notice. When you finally get them all, there's a "bat" file that you use to put them together.

I forgot that when I download my mail into Outlook, it places a copy on the server that I also need to delete :)

Good point. It's interesting that you say that. Pink's acoustic performance of "Trouble" on the American Music Awards last year was a little bit reminiscent of Stevie for me, in the way Stevie used to belt out Rhiannon in the early days. I'm not a huge Pink fan but that was a good performance and I suspect it might have been extra-appreciated by Stevie fans.

I'm not a Pink fan either, but that performance definitely showed that she's not just another belly button. She's really talented. Performing that song acoustically was the best showcase for her, showing that she wasn't hiding behind a dozen musicians and backup singers.
