My mom worked for a band back in the 70's and 80's (Max Creek-I dunno if any of you North East ledgies have heard of em), and they used to do covers of Blue Letter, Monday Morning and Don't Let Me Down Again.

As for me, I can't really sing (but maybe I would be better if I practiced or took lessons!), but I think Stand Back and GYOW would be good for now. Hey, they sounded good when I sang along with my CD player lol :laugh: !

Well, you gotta play something or sing lol...then if you've got friends that also play something or sing...then just try and put something together....

The first band I was in was just a guy that had heard about my friend and I (I'm a drummer, she plays bass lol) and he had some songs and played guitar and sang...and we practiced once, gelled and decided to be a band...we were pretty good and I really miss that band...

My second band...my bass player friend and I were at a club listening to her husband's band and this guy, Tony, was like, "I want to get a band together, but Alex and I can't find a drummer or bass player..." haha..then my next band was born...BUT I quit that band recently...:(

So I don't know if this is at all helpful...but that's what happened for me :)

Max Creek were a BIG draw around here. Now I was still young and I never had the opportunity to see them...but I've always heard about them...I guess they would've played Toad's place huh??

Anywho...that's kinda cool:cool:

Getting back to the question, I never sang in a band...I did hang around with a bunch of musicians in high school (and by that I mean tall, skinny, long-haired pretty boys who THOUGHT they were musicians :laugh: ) and they let me sing DREAMS once...they said it was good but I thought I sucked and i've been reluctant to even do karaoke since then :eek:

I think I'd either do "Brown Eyes" because my voice seems to be more in the same register or key as Chris' but I'd love to do "Golden Braid" because it's such a good live kick ass song.

I think I would do a cover of "Crystal". Actually, I have covered it many times; in the car, in the shower, at work. :D

not that i'm vain but i think i have the voice for "only over you" from "mirage." :angel:

In college, as my "master term paper" for my Record Production classes, I recorded a version of "Bermuda Triangle" the master reel of which got inadvertantly bulk erased before I could make another mix for myself...our final mixes were not returned to us by the instructor.

They do still play all over the place, including Toad's. We go to see them maybe twice a year, too see our friends (they are my mom's best friends). I just wish they would play those old covers again! But the only thing is the members who sang the covers have since quite the band...

Anywho, having had a day to think on the subject, I think Eyes Of The World would suit my vocal range well. That is if I even sang.

It's always just me and my guitar. So far I've done Steal Your Heart Away twice. I recorded Save Me a Place, but got carried away and the timing is off on one of the guitar tracks. (call it one of my many Phil Spector "Rock 'n Roll" moments) One of these days I'm going to get around to playing that one live.

If I were in a band, I would attempt Go Your Own Way and the The Ledge as well.

I would love to hear your "Save Me A Place." :nod:
