"Temporary One" without a doubt is the best moment on it for me. It not only showed Chris making a return to her fun, lighthearted style of songwriting in her prime (1971-74) but lyrically it really seemed to sum up where the band were at the time, at least in the chorus.

I put it on the jukebox at the bar when I was all jacked up the other night, and when it came on they turned the music way down. I got pretty fuggin' pist about that one. So then I payed for 6 more Fleetwood Mac songs in a row, ones that would really annoy drunk barhoppers, like Tusk and Everywhere. :laugh: Morons.

See, I think Temporary One is one of the worst songs on The Dance and one of Christine's worst songs ever. It's *too* poppy for its own good, IMO; after awhile, it really starts to grate on my nerves. I think her best period of songwriting was from 1979-1990, Behind the Mask (the song) being one of her best compositions. I think it's her crowning achievement and it's really dark, something new for Chris. It kinda sounds like something Stevie would've written. But, to make a long story short, I always skip over Temporary One. :laugh:

I like Temporary One too, especially the part with "going down into Soho" It just reminds me of her earlier song-writing (71-74), which I agree, was her prime.

Argh...you guys won't believe what happened last night. i was watching The Dance again, and suddenly, the middle of I'm So Afraid, RIGHT when the guitar solo started....the sound cut out!

I screwed around with my sound equipment and connections and have come to the conclusion that there is a problem inside the DVD player. I can still get sound...but you have to turn the speakers up to as high as they go and the sound is really quite and it sounds bad. So...today we're gonna probably take it to the place we bought it from. So, again, I am Dance-less :distress:

The Dance was what really brought me back into The Mac. My favorite moments are...

The Chain - I still get goosebumps, from the beginning where they show everyone getting ready to the last licks. Lindsey looks really nervous!

Bleed To Love Her - A real sweet song, I like the intro Lindsey gives.

Big Love - My highlight. This got me into Lindsey,

Blast! Well I like it. TOO poppy? Give me a break, this is Christine McVie we're talking about! I don't think she's been anything BUT too poppy! I bet you like "Everywhere" yet called "Temporary One" too poppy. :laugh:

Temporary one is the best song of all time! Everyone is really joining in on this song and it is a fun song, too. I love the lyrics:

I love it! Maybe my favorite Christine song ever. Plus, you can tell by the audience that they are really into it. For a new song, at least!

I'm not really crazy about Temperary One- it IS a little to "poppy" for me, but I do like the lyrics and overall it is good for Christine.

My favorite moments are:

The Chain- it is SO awesome when you hear the opening riffs and "Fleetwood Mac- The Chain" flashes across the screen and then you see Stevie in that great pose doing that thing with her tamberine- know what I'm talking about? GREATNESS!!!

Gold Dust Woman- the best version ever PERIOD. That wail (SP?)is out of this world---should have been on the CD!!!

Rhiannon- was my favorite song from the Dance when it first came out (I was 10 :) )

Go Insane, Big Love- just Lindsey and his guitar at their very best :nod:

Silver Springs- obviously :D

Sweet Girl- I love this song! Although I must say I like the Enchanted "demo" version more. It's alot "rock-ier" and is longer than the Dance version-anyone concur?

Her songs were never THAT poppy! Temporary One is middle-of-the-road pop that you would expect to hear from the lounge singer on Ally McBeal. I think the music itself is very uninspired and ordinary; nothing stands out. If that song is any indication of how her songs would've been like on SYW, it's a good thing she had nothing to do with it. :laugh:

As for Everywhere, it's never been one of my favorite songs but the music itself is very good. The lyrics are a little lame, but I love the music. Overall, it's another of her worst songs, IMO.

Vonda Shepherd (lounge singer from Ally McBeal) played as the opening act at a place I was working at a few years ago and she played without a band. It was wrong for the room. Someone asked me what I thought and as soon as I said "Vonda Shepherd would have been better with a full on band" I looked up and she was standing to my left and had clearly heard what I said. Oops!

I like "Temporary One" ALOT. Along with "Bleed To Love Her", these were the best of the new songs, in my opinion. I LOVE the Dance DVD. The highlights for me:

I really like Vonda Shepherd and actually own two of her albums. She gets on your nerves after playing her for more than twenty minutes, but she's genius on the piano. :nod:

She is a good musician and she was sweet. But like Stevie says "A girl needs a band.":laugh:
