There are other episodes that have featured more than one performer on Soundstage, I was looking at the website and Trace Atkins performed with "special guest" Travis Tritt. I looked at the set list and both Atkins and Tritt performed an equal number of songs. However, I think this will mark the first time the program will have two artists on the same show who are solo artists but are also in the same band. So I think in this case, it really is going to be a joint effort. I think it would be the same show as a show that was billed "Stevie Nicks with special guest Lindsey Buckingham." They are not unrelated artists like Trace Atkins and Travis Tritt are. Just my opinion, though. I guess we will see after the episode is taped. :)

It sounds like they will focus on FM and probably, hopefully, BN material.

I would absolutely die if they did anything off the BN record. That would rock my world in a major way.

I find it hard to believe that it will focus solely on either solo career, especially since they have both been working so hard, esp. LB, to promote FM as a unified, cohesive whole. I can't see him splitting from that now. He is the one who has been saying he wants to do another FM record.

I think this is just about the coolest thing ever, particularly as of late.

Call me crazy, but I'm hoping that I'll finally get to hear Lindsey play on Edge of Seventeen. Like I said, call me crazy.

Acutally I was thinking the exact opposite! No one's getting any younger and that quote from Ken Caillat in another thread here got me thinking that he might be trying to rekindle his solo career in case things fall apart. He's got a wife and two kids to support. His record company wouldn't put Gift Of Screws out although I'm sure that could have been done elsewhere. He's basically been a hermit for the last decade. Stevie has already said she is dong another solo record once this tour is finished. I do wonder though if she would put that off for FM instead.

He has enough money to build and furnish 50 more spanish style houses, buy his wife 500 more diamond necklaces and matching earrings and put his kids through college like, 10 times. I don't think it's the money that's a problem :laugh:

I do think if Lindsey said, "you know what? Let's keep this thing going." that Stevie would scrap the solo album idea and put it on the shelf for now while she continued to work with Fleetwood Mac. However, as we saw in the case with Trouble in Shangri La, it is possible for her to do both. The guys could begin and then she could come in and do her thing. She has always said that Fleetwood Mac comes first though so we'll have to wait it out :nod: Whatever the case may be, i'm super stoked that Lindsey and Stevie will be featured...this rocks!!!

:nod: Marissa, I do recall during the Dance, Stevie saying something to the extent of Lindsey not needing the money that they would be getting from the tour, because not only does he have tons of songwriting royalties he has producing royalties too, which the other band members do not have. So I don't think this has anything to do with money for him-- at least not at this stage in the game.

I think another FM record is in the cards. Maybe I'm crazy. ;) dissention-- Edge of 17 with Lindsey playing would be pretty awesome. I guess we'll see what happens in a couple of weeks! (we have some Ledgies attending the show now! whoo hoo!!) :)

...I got my tickets today for Soundstage (HOORAY!)- the $325/$150 ticket price is actually for TWO- that donation covers admission for two!! Yay! And it's tax-deductible ;-)

Lindsey is really a perfect fit for Soundstage, and Soundstage's a perfect fit for him. They really focus on great artists. One recent special was taped with Liz Phair, and the one they did with Lucinda Williams continues to be one of the most electrifying things I've ever seen captured on tape.

Soundstage is allied locally very closely with WXRT (93.1), the greatest station in the world- they're an adult alternative station that actually plays the crap of more Buckingham-based FM and even his solo stuff. They REALLY supported him with OOTC even.

I'm so excited for this. I just hope they don't break into Landslide or something... ugggghhghgggh.

So, lemme just make sure I understand this - Soundstage is taped in Chicago, like Austin City Limits is taped in Austin, but they WILL broadcast it on PBS, correct? This isn't just a local thing? Thanks!

As far as I know it's national... but honestly, since I live in Chicago, where it's taped, I'm not really sure...

I'd imagine the air dates for all the PBS affiliates will slightly differ (basically a bunch one week and then a bunch the next week in the same time slot or there around) so yeah, you could consider it a "national broadcast" though not all at once, like say, the Super Bowl, or whatever.

I bet this will be a lot like Lindsey's "Center stage" show from 1992 in it's "intimate" nature. Though VH1 aired an abbreviated version of that show (30 minutes, with ads), PBS's version of it was an hour (without ads) so naturally, the PBS version was much better (though for some reason, the VH1 version of that show had the "Tusk" performance and the PBS one didn't).

I'm confused as to why this isn't going to be billed as a FLEETWOOD MAC Soundstage though as, like someone said earlier, they are supossed to be promoting a FM album after all. SOMEONE is going to be playing drums and bass, don't Mick and John get to be "special guests" too? ...or will there be different players to join them for this show (if it is considered a "solo/duo" thing)?

Well, I guess that I am extending my Chicago trip a few days.LOL I just called and they are closed now.:( I will have to wait until the morning.

I'm starting to think maybe the show will just be Lindsey solo on guitar (not that that would be a bad thing at all!), with Stevie singing on a few songs (perhaps Big Love, Landslide, Say Goodbye).

Oh man I'd go nuts if the two of them did Illume with just Lindsey's guitar and Stevie singing!

I guess we'll have to wait and see though.
