Joe said something about Stevie's music being lackluster because of overplaying the same songs... I agree. When you go to solo show, you still hear Dreams, Rhiannon, Landslide, etc. When you go to an FM show you hear those songs obviously because they are FM songs. I think Stevie should dust off some more "golden oldies" a la Beautiful Child and do those with FM (even bring back Sara, if they had to)....Seeing Stevie for Enchanted and TISL were great and I'm glad she mixed up the songs and did a lot of old/obscure songs...but with the Mac, it's like she gave up.

Exactly....i was just recently listening to an Enchanted show and it was great not only because i remember her being really upbeat and happy on that tour when i saw her but because of that neat little interlude she did with Garbo, Rose Garden, After the Glitter Fades and Sleeping Angel...I thought that little piece right there made the show....I think that worked out great and it would great if she and FM could do that continually on other tours....why do they feel that because they deviate once that it's the only time they can do it when the majority of the times it works out in favor?

I think the addition of Beautiful Child to this tour was a wise choice as far as Stevie's selections. I really enjoyed that.

I would love to see a new studio album but this time i would really like it to be in the vein of the albums of the 70's. I want the album to come out of the experiences the band is having together. In other words, i don't any older treasures (although i love them) brought to light, i don't want Lindsey's stuff done and then Stevie just comes in and adds her vocal...I think again that if they, as Lindsey claims, are getting back to what he and Stevie were doing pre-FM then the two of them should be collaborating a bit more together. I really would love to see them pen a few songs together and do a few duets like Frozen Love.

Don't get me wrong, i love the new album but this is just what i would like to see happen for the next album. I think the album will have a closer to the heart, organic type of feel if they ALL work on it together from beginning to end.

Yeah, I wonder if they can put their egos away long enough to compose a few songs together. They're such personal (and different) songwriters it's doubtful that they can pull off a colaboration but I would love to see it. I would also love to hear some B/N material on the second leg of the tour but of course it'll never happen.

I think it is funny that Lindsey says he'd like to get Stevie over to his studio at his house and do some writing form the ground up. As hopeful as I am about that, i just don't see it happening, at least not there, not like that.

The only way it could happen is if there is once again that "safe environment" of a rented house that is neutral territory. Stevie requires a certain amount of trappings and space in order to feel creative, and I find it beyond hilarious to think Stevie is going to haul herself and all her Stevieness over to Lindsey's house. There just won't be enough room for that, even in a 1200 square foot space, and I highly doubt Kristen will be willing to give up any of her 8000 square feet in the house so Stevie can feel at home.

Although, that could in itself cause one hell of a song to be written! LMAO!!

Besides, they have both said they are currently writing, so if a new CD gets made, it will be in the same style they have always worked, save for maybe one or two things they may need to fill it out.

I am excited about what they may currently be writing about, really.

I think they can indeed produce another CD, but I think LB isn't taking everything into consideration where Stevie is concerned.

What do you guys think about Stevie vs. Kristen? Do you think there's a lot of animosity or anything? Did anyone read the Liz Smith article where she hangs out with the Buckinghams? Kristen sounded...okay...I hate to bash her, since I don't really know her/about her...but I don't know...she seems to like being married to a rock star a LOT--8000 sq ft house, huge diamond necklace for mothers day, etc etc.

I hope she really loves him and isn't like, "all that I want is someone to take care of me...I'm not asking for love...just a little bit of sympathy" or a "Sugar Daddy." :p

Nobody really knows, but one thing's for sure........

time will tell, won't it?

I will put money on this: Lindsey and Stevie will not get together to write songs. Never going to happen. The dynamic between those two simply doesn't allow it. If there is another FM album, the writing process will happen as it has in the past. They write separately and bring the songs to the studio. Lindsey has expressed a lot of wishful thinking lately. I have to wonder just how in touch with reality he is.

In the case of "Frozen Love"... the only song on which Stevie & Lindsey, alone, share co-writing credits... Stevie wrote lyrics for music Lindsey was working on.
(For "The Chain," Stevie's previously written lyrics were put to the music written by Lindsey, et al.)

In fact, that's almost always been the case when Stevie shares a co-writing credit with someone... the lyrics are hers, and the music is theirs, with a little bit of collaborating to make the two parts mesh comfortably.

If Stevie & Lindsey were to collaborate on new songs for a future album, I imagine that's pretty much what would happen again.
Lindsey would give Stevie music he's working on, she'd write lyrics to it, and then they'd set upon making the entire thing a cohesive work.

Which would definitely be more "from the ground up," than their work on 'Say You Will.'

I believe the new studio album would be so good ... if you listen to Not Make Believe and No Limit, I think that's a taste of the latest sound Lindsey has got. Very vibrant vocals, especially, compared to GOS. A whole album of new material done like this would do so well.

I agree about this all coming down to Stevie. But for all we know, she and Kristen could get on famously! Unlikely, I know, yet let's face it... they are 'grown adults' after all.

I said this in another thread...

Lindsey spoke a lot about another FM album right after SYW come out, but lately he seems to be backing away from it with "Maybe we will" and "I don't want to promise anything", so I think it's looking less and less likely.

Of course stranger things have happened...

Is it me or did Carne and Johnny Stew just AGREE on something???

WednesdaysChild 07-16-2003 08:47 PM

Do you think that maybe Stevie and Lindsey would go into a studio by themselves and put out an album without Mick and John? Like BN pt. 2? I wonder what is making Lindsey back away from another studio album...too many other musicians or trouble with Stevie?

sulamith 07-16-2003 09:46 PM

Hmmmmmmm.........maybe he's got somebody nagging at him constantly.....

"You should spend more time with me"
"You never do anything with us as a family"
"You're gone too much"
"You talk about Stevie too much"
"You act like you'd rather be with them than me"
"Your fans are sickos"
"You don't love me anymore"

Blah, blah, blah......

I'd be willing to bet money at least one of these have fallen on LB's ears in the last few weeks!

WednesdaysChild 07-16-2003 10:07 PM

Maybe so...I wouldn't doubt it!

John Run 07-16-2003 10:14 PM

Lindsey has not backed away in any recent interview fromt he idea of a solo album. It has been a pretty constant, "I would like to do another album after the tour."

This idea of him backing away is just typical Fleetwood Mac fan paranoia and reading into every word and symantic change from interview to interview.

Let them finish this tour. Probably wind up at the end of the year. Take 6 months to a year off and then see where they are. You are looking at 12-18 months from now before they would even possibly begin another project.

Well, Mick has stated several times now that Stevie and his wife, Lynn, have become the closest of friends... so I don't see why things would be any different between Stevie and Kristen.

Consider this: Stevie & Sara Recor were best friends in the '70s, and after Mick's affair with Stevie, he took up with Sara... yet Stevie & Sara have remained friends ever since, to the point that Sara has even lived in Stevie's house, and has recorded and toured with Stevie.

Her relationship with Lindsey may be a continually inspiring muse for Stevie, but I believe she truly got over him a lonnnnng time ago.
And I seriously doubt Stevie has any reason to view Kristen as a threat at this point... twenty-seven years after she and Lindsey broke up.

I think if the tour goes well, and they all come off the road still enthusiastic about working with each other, then we'll see another new Fleetwood Mac album with these four people.
But I'd still bet that Stevie records a solo album in the down-time.
