With your bootleg knowledge, you should be setting the over/under.

Thoughts?

Played only twenty one times live, a precious pearl in my shell.

It's one of the first songs I liked from Live album. And I got that album before listening Rumours and Tusk entirely (I listened Mirage before, it was my first FM album).

It was played at 21 concerts on that tour?

All I remember is that they played it on the first leg (like St. Louis), then dropped it, then brought it back on the final US leg. Seems like they just should have kept it in for the whole ten months. Shouldn’t have been that big a deal.

Found this clip from the St Louis show I hadn't seen before...

Hi, justcrazylove!

Someone clarified the other day that this is the LIVE album audio overlaid on one of the 1979 rehearsal on video [edit: looks like Oct 19]. There are three rehearsals on video (plus a fourth whose date is unknown and some additional audio-only) with these audio clips:

Oct 18 Over and Over

Oct 19 Over and Over

Oct 20 Over and Over

Perfect, thanks for clarifying. I hadn't read far enough back in the thread.

Over and Over/The Ledge 10/19/79 rehearsal

Here’s the video without the Live album overdub

Sooo good!

I wonder if the reason they dropped it was it did not go over well with the "fans." We love it here but we are all the exception

On the live album when Chris announces they are playing a song from Tusk......crickets from the audience. When she says its the first track on side one called Over and Over, there is no applause.. I dont think they knew the song which is ok but dead silence is weird. Their "fans" were odd because how many times have we heard the band say they had to shuffle their setlist because the audience was not getting the new material. This even happened on the Rumours tour for the love of God. Fleetwood Mac has dreadful fans

Agreed. That rehearsal is killer. And following it up with “The Ledge,” where Christine strums on the guitar. What’s not to love?

I hear in both of these songs a noticeably different approach to the material, in both cases because they originally used studio affects and engineering to make those tunes seem stranger, spacier than they actually are. No weird reverb on Over and Over. The live version is warmer—and the instrumental jam at the end is powerful. This rehearsal for “The Ledge” sounds like they are un-weirding the song, singing it straight as the zany but entirely charming rockabilly number it truly is.

I love how she plays the guitar. So relaxed.

I’d be interested to hear a “straight” rockabilly version of “The Ledge” by someone like Chris Issac and a pop-country cover of “Over and Over” by anyone (man or woman) who could tackle singing this ultra-simple song half as movingly—and without vibrato.
