Resurrecting this thread to see if anyone from the Old Gang is still lurking around.

My old chat buddies from High school... LauraTN? Eric(k?)a Muzryn (sp?), Pearl?

I was just a lurker back then but do recognize a lot of the names. Didnt actually join and regularly participate till TISL. Time constraints & life seem to have always kept me from participating enough to actually build friendships with people on here although I always recognize so many names that I feel a sense of camaraderie with everyone although it seems more sparse & negative recently, which I try to just roll by.
Anyways, it's fun that you've resurrected several of these old threads AnthonyMI-they're a lot of fun to read. Hope you find some of your old pals!

I started lurking here around 2001, and didn't join until 2003( because people were too mean, lol).

I was dragged here by "David". The interwebs used to have these things called "newsgroups", and there was a FM one, where I met David, ChiliD,Stephen MacD, and jbrownsjr. Newsgroups were dying off, so David talked me into at least lurking...

I lurked for a long time too before joining. I was blown away with the person who had the signature line "Pick up the pizzas and go home" with Stevie holding 2 pizza hut boxes. That member mostly posted in the photo section. That is the most clever signature line ever.

......for the music.

I have been around here since the release of the Dance. I like the ledge for the music updates and to get people's perspective on the music from my all time favorite band(and solo) I pass on all the other "noise"

Same here. I started visiting in '99 and I lurked for two years! It's kind of weird to remember a time when I found the Ledge intimidating. In 1999, I was just a member of Stevie / Lindsey groups where we talked about the two of them and shared fanfic about the band (judge me if you like - we had a lot of fun.) I used my 10 megs of AOL space to start a site called "Turning the Pages" which became BuckinghamNicks.net.

Holy crap, my site is almost 20 years old.

That can't be right....

Threads like this can make you a bit sad, because you think about how at the time, you shared so much with these people and now, you don't even know if most of them are dead or alive. Such is life, especially in the internet age when we're all so far flung, but it does make one's heart hurt a little. Or, at least, it makes my heart hurt a little.

I very much miss the old newsgroups of usenet. There were some great people and interesting discussions on those newsgroups (not just the FM one). And they weren't cluttered up by useless graphics and avatars.

When I saw Peter Green in concert in 2000 and posted a review of the show on the FM newsgroup, someone on the group sent me an audience recording of the show. Was that person any of you? I'd like to say thank you.

It's hard to believe how much our worlds have changed, in the last 20 years, thanks to the internet.

If you told me I'd spend several hours a day on something called Facebook, I would have never believed you.

Oh wow. Newgroups. I remember those!! The thing I remember most was they were always easily infiltrated by spammers and scrolling through ads for drugs and viagra and p0rno became a cumbersome. It was however the easiest place to get bootlegs

I've been a Ledgie since the late 90s. 1998 I believe. I constantly read posts, Just feel like I don't know anyone on here anymore.

I miss you now~

I’ve been coming to the ledge since the late 90s though I didn’t become an official member since 2003.

Neal 02-12-2018 05:14 PM

Originally joined in 1998, posted regularly until... whenever I stopped?

Been primarily lurking in recent years.

fleetwoodguy79 02-12-2018 07:46 PM

Lurker in 98-99, joined later. That was back after I first discovered Fleetwood Mac after The Dance, when I was a youngster.

This bad has had a major impact in my life in a positive way. Always saddens me that this board isn't as active with chatter as it used to be.

Maybe we need to refresh the forums to a modern era layout?
