Brandon, I truly wish you the best, and I sincerely hope you find happines in yourself. However, you have admitted in the past that you post to get a rise out of people, so perhaps that is why you are met with skepticism by some. Regardless, I hope you won't be throwing around terms like "baby-killers" anymore.

Yeah, I don't think we're talking about it cause we don't believe you.
I believed you the minute I saw your Ann Miller, Judy Garland sig.
So, I don't think not believing you is the issue. I think it's still your politics. :wavey:

But I just wouldn't lie about something like this.

This is unlike other topics from the past. THIS IS ABOUT ME! I thought I was making a positive step by letting people know, granted its not the same as family or friends but it is something.

Jesus, I hope my parents don't react the same way when I eventually tell them! They will laugh at me and say "Son you are foolish, we know you are only kidding us!"....I guess I'll have to screw in front of people to get them to take me seriously!

But, you're right... I guess I shouldn't be surprised at all that some folks are "being their usual selves."

But, if you do talk about "something on your own" (here on the ledge) does that mean others are not supposed to respond? That's absurd. When you post/say something on a message board, the whole point is that people will respond to it. This board is not a vacuum. If he wanted to talk about it "on his own" he would use PM's. or the phone. or IM. Or something other than this massively public board, where everyone talks to each other and has opinions on everything. Although, I will say that people pressured him to answer "questions" but really, he had already answered those questions, the person just didn't see it, and didn't want to wade through the massive thread. It's nothing he hadn't said before.
And yes, of course we'll be our usual selves. Because we're individuals. And don't we deserve compassion, too? Don't we all deserve to just be able to be ourselves, without judgement?

Everything aside, I believe you and wish you nothing but the best when you make the decision to come out to your friends and family. It's not an easy decision to make and I would never want anyone, no matter how much I disagree with their politics, to feel unloved or unwanted for even a moment just because of their sexual orientation. I have not questioned your sexuality in this thread, I have not demanded answers from you about your sexuality, and I'm not going to. It's your business and considering that you are not "out and about," I wouldn't want to say anything to you or press you about anything that would make you feel more nervous about your sexuality than you already do. I just hope that when the day comes that you decide to tell your loved ones, you find acceptance. If you don't find it automatically, it's their loss, not yours.

You are making a positive step. And I believe that many people here offered you support and advice. And believed you. In fact, who didn't believe you?
So get off the cross, and quit making **** up. You would be lucky if your parents reacted the way people here have. Just saying. Even though people are questioning your "gay politics", they've still been very supportive of your actual gayness, if not your politics. And they wouldn't have been supportive of your politics no matter if you were gay or not. Admit it. You felt the love. I even sent you some love and blessings. I'm not minimizing your difficult road, but I am saying you may be misinterpreting things people have said. ie = Gay - always good. Republican politics = always bad. See?

I don't disrespect anyone or their feelings, but it seems like a flawed reaction to treat someone with insensitivity because of past comments that they seem to be genuinely sorry for.

Do we accept their apology and move forward, or do we hold past indiscretions against them for all time?

Yea I did from some people. I guess I just got the impression that some did not believe me or something. Do I have the makings of a drama queen already?

I see your point, but in an attempt to take other viewpoints into consideration, I have to say that it's not always that simple.

Now I know the secret. Be a coming out young man.
That's like when I was trying to figure out how to be someone Stevie knew in a past life so I would be invited backstage. ei, it's never gonna happen.

Obviously.
But there's a difference between responding with support, and responding by asking for explanations and justifications (regarding his sexual orientation vs. his political beliefs).

I don't know... maybe I'm just feeling a little protective of him right now, knowing how painful the coming out process can be when you have religious and familial conflictions.

Other people have different issues. i was going to say a bunch more stuff, but really it's that simple. You have reacted how you will, and others have reacted how they will.
