I know it's technicly not FM, but I heard Gold on two different radio stations this morning. After one of them played the DJ said, "that's John Stewart." He didn't even mention Stevie. I mean really, who is the bigger star here?

Go Your Own Way from Live In Boston was blasting through the speakers when I walked into Tyler's last weekend. Tyler's is a local Austin clothing store. It's the first time in a while where I've been surprised to hear a Mac song. Mainly because the only time I've heard anything from Live In Boston, I was the one playing it. :p

but the younger ones only know of Stevie! |
"Think about Me" again, walking into Walgreens. That's twice recently, and I've never heard it before in public...weird.
|
I heard Sara on xm 25 (classic rewind), which is not really unexpected, but the dj's comments were. Pat St. John, the dj, said that he wasn't sure, but he thought that Stevie played piano on Sara. He then went on to explain that he was always bothered by the title of the album, Tusk, because it was a reference to all of Stevie's piano songs on the album(?) and the fact that the piano keys were made from elephants' tusks (ivory). I guess I should be happy that he knew Sara was Stevie's song, and it was from Tusk.
|
I believe Stevie's original piano demo is mixed in on the album. Stevie said something like Christine couldn't get it quite right during the recording. Anybody else remember or know if I right or did I imagine it?

I heard Thrown Down in the grocery store the other day.
There is an episode of King of Queens where it shows how Doug and Carrie met, and in Doug's apartment there are rock posters hanging up, and one is the TITN promo poster. |
At Wendy's at lunch - Say You Will is playing! :)
|
I heard Whenever I Call You Friend on the radio twice today and I heard Gold yesterday once more.
|
I heard Hold Me at the market square last saturday which is really weird because you never hear anything Mirage over here, it's like that album was never released.
|
On Thursday, I heard SYLM at CVS. That's twice in one month I've heard that song while out shopping!

Where did you hear this? I'd be curious to know. |

I don't remember exactly which interview it was that Stevie said it. She said it was in the mix somewhere. That her original piano demo was left in the mix. Anybody besides me and CAdreaming remember ever hearing this? I don't think I made it up. |

I wonder if they let one layer of her playing stay in the mix, as a texture and not as the base track. |

I heard SYW at Home Depot yesterday. And I'm ashamed to say that I didn't recognize it at first!
|
On the radio yesterday I heard Think About Me and last night I heard Tusk.
|
I heard SYW in the Publix grocery store.

Carrie Underwood guest dj on the station The Blend on Sirius XM, introduced Little Lies by saying FM is one of her favorite bands and some of the nicest people. She loves LL, thinks its one of the most unique songs ever, loves Stevie Nicks' "chilling" background vocals.

I heard "Say you love Me" through a radio that I was repairing over the weekend.

Of course, this is one of those songs that you hear all of the time. I think that next to Landslide, it's the most famous non-Rumours song as far as airplay goes. I remember my niece got a Barbie camper for Christmas once and the camper had a real radio in it. Well, we couldn't get the radio to work. On Christmas Eve, my sister-in-law kept taking out the batteries and putting them back in and shaking the camper and we got nothing and after about an hour of that, suddenly the thing worked and the radio sound blared out of the toy. The song playing was "Little Lies" and, as always, I somehow crazily took it as a personal message. Michele |
Not a song or anything. I had a dream last night that we had a poll on this board about which member of the Mac talked the most. Lindsey won, with Stevie not that far behind. I voted Lindsey but said Stevie has a tendency to tell the same stories over and over and over. Like listening to the Mac albums back to front:laugh:
Yea I'm here WAY to much:lol: Mick |

That or there's just too many polls... I think I would have definitely voted for Stevie though. In fact, I think we should vote on our fav story or quote. I wonder who would win the Cycles vs Hamburger Helper vs Hurt like a Mo-Fo poll? |
Someone was playing Sara on their laptop at the flea market today.

"Thrown Down" at Fresh 'n' Easy grocery store this morning.

But it's funny because there's something different about their talkativity - Lindsey is always very prepared, and when he talks it's a jumble of philosophy and metaphors and it's all very specific to himself. Rarely, in recent years, have I heard Lindsey give an answer that seemed like it wasn't rehearsed. Stevie, on the other hand, will also talk someone's ear off, but she mostly just rambles and tells stories.. she doesn't give many prepared speeches - even the 'Gypsy' speech was not all THAT consistent - although she does repeat a lot of the same ideas. And she has stories she returns to that she interjects wherever she can. And both of them, when speaking, tend to use the same phrases over and over. |
So today i was wearing my Rumours shirt, and a girl from my uni noticed it and asked me if i really knew about FM (doesn't happen much in France, totally unexpected). Turned out we went to the same concert for the Unleashed tour 3 years ago, and everything was great, and i had a new friend...until she said her favorite FM song is "Oh Diane". :( :( :(

There's an italian radio/tv channel called Radio Capital that broadcasts 70s/80s/90s music. I'm watching it almost everyday since last week and in the past 3 days I was able to watch "Don't stop", "Little lies", "Sara", "Rhiannon", "Dreams" and "Seven wonders" :D -EDIT: and "Gypsy" (I forgot about it)
There's also another 80s local tv channel called 8FM TV and it's also possible to watch it in streaming: http://webtv.ottofm.tv/ This is the tv channel I watched 2 years ago when I lived in Turin (Piedmont) and thanks to it I discovered Fleetwood Mac's music ("Little lies" was in fact one of the first video they aired when the channel was still new and had only few songs). There's also a tv commercial for Eni Gas Station and it's almost 6-7 years that they use "Don't stop" as background music. At first, it was used the original FM song, but now there's an instrumental version of it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6k3WFGvHd8). In 2011 the original song was changed with Erica Mou's cover (that honestly I don't like very much): |
The other week i was having lunch with my partner and they played Dreams, The Chain and then Oh Daddy in succession.
We then went for a few drinks elsewhere and we heard Gypsy and then Seven Wonders in succession. The day before we heard Dreams in a shop and i started to duet on it with the man who was serving me. Very strange:blob2: |
I was at a wedding Saturday night, and during the reception the bride suprised the groom and sang him a song (she said he had never heard her sing before).
Low and behold, she sang Songbird. |
