View Full Version : I miss "Sara"

I can't understand why FM won't do "Sara" anymore..... It's perhaps the best FM song ever. Whatever Stevie's reservations about the song live should absolutely be overwhelmed by the obvious emotional impact of the song.

She isn't trying for anything these days. The omission of "Everybody Finds Out" and the retraction of "Running Through the Garden" and the obvious forget of "Sisters of the Moon" and "Sara", really indicate a lack of artistry on Stevie's part.

I had hoped for the inclusion of the afore mentioned songs, but I knew that they would be forgotten. It's just the furthering declination of FM's artistic viability.......

Where is "Crystal", on this obvious chance for its beautiful playing?? "Beautiful Child" is a GREAT choice (and I can't wait to see it!), but I still miss the opportunity to see for one last time "Sara", "Sisters of the Moon", "Races Are Run", "Crystal", and "Crying in the Night" (and "Storms"WHERE IS "STORMS" LIVE?!?!?!?? ) .

In this world of crappy music, I had hoped that FM would have pulled the REAL good songs into the forefront. Unfortunately, I will wait until eternity to hear these songs....

JEEZ STEVIE!!!!?!?!??!??!?!?!!! Get a clue!!!!!!

Give her a break man! She's just "doing the best that [she] can".

She has to do those certain songs that casual Fleetwood Mac fans like to hear. I mean we would all love to hear all of the rarities and obscure songs...but that wouldn't go over too well for the casual listener.

I'm just glad that she brought "Beautiful Child" out of the vaults for this one. That right there is a chance that I never thought she/they would take. I'm thankful that they're still around to sing any songs at all.

Hey at least you'll get a chance to see Beautiful Child! I wish I could! And Stevie has to be happy with what she is singing on stage and she always felt that Sara didn't transfer well to stage

I agree...i'm going to the show next wednesday in albany....and, i'm not as excited about it as i was when the tour was announced....i really don't know why...i thought they would have pulled some real treasures out with this tour....i don't want to sound negative and bash them....i'm glad that they're back....but i really think they know how to pigeonhole themselves and don't give as much credit to themselves as they deserve....for sure, i thought we would have heard "frozen love" or something from that era....i didn't count on "sara" as i gave up hope long time ago...it's a damn shame that we're stuck with the same songs from her on all the fm tours...i mean, the fact that "stand back" is in the set list really burns me up...retire it already! i'll hear that song at every stevie concert! how often could i get the chance to hear a fm/stevie song? they definately could do "everybody finds out" that's what i mean about them....they don't realize what the people want....i also was disappointed that "monday morning" and i think "storms" was rumored (by lindsey or stevie in an interview) to be rehearsed but yet it's not in the set....and i'm equally disappointed that "running through the garden" was omitted....maybe they just dropped it for a few nights but i have a feeling (from their track record) that it's gone forever....instead, we get "second hand news" in its place which was done on the dance tour....what about "blue letter"? i AM happy that "world turning" is in the set....it's been gone for a long time and i've never even been at a live show with lindsey performing it (was always stuck with the billy/rick versions) so it should be interesting...

one last thing....i know i'm jumping to conclusions cause i haven't seen the show yet....i'm just going by some of the recent reviews but does stevie move at all in this show? i know she's not feeling well and she's having hip problems so i guess she's got the right to chill out but it just makes me a little less happy about the show....i guess i'll be there for lindsey. stevie's live glory days are way behind her.

I didn't know she has hip problems. Thats the worst. I can't see a lot more touring if that is the case..

Keep in mind, not everyone likes the same songs, and the show only lasts for so long--They can't play everything.

In order to work in the new songs, they've got to appease the audience by playing the older hits that they are familiar with, not old rarities like Storms, Sisters of the Moon and Crying in the Night. While those are great songs, the majority of the audience aren't as familiar with them as songs like Rhiannon, Dreams and Gypsy, etc.

A lot of people only go to one show and count on hearing those songs too.

However, I sure do miss Sara too.

1. You're NOT going to be disappointed with the show. I didn't feel the excitement either until I got there. Usually with something this big, I wouldn't be able to sleep the night before, but I slept fine. Once it starts, it'll come back.

2. Stand Back actually sounds better than ever, except for the fact that she doesn't belt "TAKE ME!" But Stevie was all rocking along to this song, dancing with her shawl, etc.

3. I AM disappointed with RTTG being cut after I heard how good it sounded, but can you HONESTLY picture Everybody Finds Out sounding right live? The song reminds me of something like Planets which didn't have the same effect live (maybe due to studio work that can't be achieved on stage). And going back to Tower's post, what does them not doing YOUR favorite songs have to do with artistry? Stevie put the album on hold for a month so that she could work on newer songs for the album...that sounds more like artistry to me. Sorry, there's just not much grounds to your claim.

4. YES, Stevie does move around. Like I said, she was pretty animated for Stand Back. And on Destiny Rules she was just all over the mic. But I'll admit, many times during the show it's like the "Lindsey Buckingham show."

I thought / felt Planets was really good when I heard it live. Even moreso touching cause poor Stevie was soooo sick and you could hear it through her voice... but still... it was amazing hearing You will never love again, the way you love me with her belting it out! :) :)

I agree that you will not be dissappointed with the show at all. I for one am so happy and feel lucky that I got to hear a song live that she never did...Beautiful Child. It was amazing.
I still would like to hear more new songs or even rare old songs during the new live show.
Esp................. Angel!!! I would love to hear this live. The Tusk documentary is my favorite just for this song. THere is so much more out there that they can do...rare songs...but as a fan I am just happy that they are still OUT THERE putting on shows for us no matter what they play, we still get to enjoy them!

It appears 2 of Stevie's new songs are out of the set list since opening night. I don't see why those can't be replaced by 1 or 2 rarities like Sisters of the Moon, Angel, or Storms. These are all FM songs. They should know how to play them even without the backup band. Stevie's either having a stamina problem or a Lindsey problem. What else is going to get dropped without any decent replacement?

I don't agree that Stevie's best live days are way past. I loved her little take on the Elvis song at the Diva's concert last year, and she wasn't dancing around. She still has that charisma, & I've always loved what she does with her hands when she sings - both live and in the videos.

I'm thrilled that I live at a time when the Queen of Rock is still getting up onstage. How lucky are we?
Almost fifteen years ago in TOSOTM interviews I remember Stevie saying that she'd be fading out of the music business within the next five years, and only concentrating on her painting. But she's still up there, still committed to writing/recording/performing and now mentoring.
I can live with Stevie dancing less, singing for shorter stretches, and <gasp/shudder> even Blackdress.

What I find puzzling is that Stevie does not recognize the contradiction in her being SO proud of being a prolific songwriter when her concert song choices offer little evidence to the huge amount and variety of her material. Fine, Stevie, be proud of all your many somgs --- your fans want to be committed to them, too --- but you have to PLAY more of these songs to foster OUR partnership with them. Why hide them?

I don't understand why Fleetwood Mac keeps doing "Stand Back" on their tours. Not only is it a solo Stevie song, it doesn't sound ANYTHING like Fleetwood Mac. It's 80's synth-pop - Prince played on it for god's sake! I don't hate the song but it seems to me it must stand out like a synthetic thumb in their shows (I've never seen FM live). Why don't they do something from Bella Donna? Wouldn't it be fun to hear Stevie and Lindsey sing "Leather and Lace"?

I don't understand why they do that song either. Id rather see 'em do Stop Draggin My Heart Around.

Well it is their band after all...

I think what makes some of the older songs so great is the tenderness in Stevie/Lindsey's voices and to some extent, age and general weathering has affected how those songs would sound. People would complain if they didn't sound exactly like they wanted it too, and who needs more of that?

As weird as it may sound, it now is a Fleetwood Mac song, since it appeared in a Fleetwood Mac album (The Chain boxed set). And anyway Stevie loves performing it and apparently the band loves performing it too, so what gives. If they enjoy it, the most probable thing is that the audience will enjoy it too.
