Well, I have to start out saying that my memory of the songs in order of playing ended somewhere in the middle of the concert when I started to get teary from happiness! So these are not in order. Sorry...
The concert started out a little late at 8:25, which for some reason most of the seats were empty till 8pm. We know that the concert was not sold out but it looked pretty packed to me. Finally the lights went down and we knew that it was to begin. I was seated in the 4th row but to the side and could see them walking up from backstage. Mick lead, then John then Lindsey came out leading Stevie..she looked a little nervous at first until she got to the mic. The first song was the Chain. They played this song well and from the very beginning I could tell that their voices were right on. Stevie looked amazing in her regular concert black dress. I got a really close view of her thanks to my lovely binos, and wow, she looks so amazing. Her hair was long and straight and she kept putting the left side behind her ear..lol..it was cute. She had fire engine red nail polish on that really stood out. Mick had his normal attire on, John was in a blue hawaiian shirt and Lindsey was wearing a white half unbuttoned shirt, black pants and a cool necklace. :)They welcomed us to the first concert on their new tour and the songs began!
So now I will go song by song with some highlights:
Dreams- what can I say about Dreams...Stevie's voice was in pure form. Great Stevie and Lindsey smiles...they started with this song with singing looking at each other a lot.
Peacekeeper/Say You Will- these songs were great. Most people sat around me but liked what they heard..this song reminded me of the CD as it sounded just the same.
Never Going Back Again- awesome!! Lindsey rocked..this was the first song that he started to really get into it.
Eyes of the World- this song rocked! I have not heard this song in ages..it seemed like many people had no clue which song this was till the words came out, but once they caught on, people were happily surprised. It looked like Stevie and Lindsey both had a blast singing this song.
Rhiannon- Stevie sang her heart on this song...the crowd loved it, and she was really into it.
Gypsy- this is one of my favs. And I had forgotten that it was in the set list. I love this song and her voice was perfect..and the harmony with Lindsey was great.
Come- what can I say about come, except OH MY GOD! This song started the Lindsey roll with rocking the house down. He broke a string in his wildness, and it was great! The veins were bulging on his neck from the passion he evoked in this song. Awesome and standing ovation, hell yes!
Running Through the Garden- a song that I was not sure would be good live but it sounded great. Stevie moved her arms and hands and sang and she sounded just like the CD. I tell you her voice was right on.
Big Love- this one was a major fav of the crowd. Lindsey started this song with a little verse about what this song was about and how he still was that man up on the hill, but now he was not alone and he dedicated it to his wife and children. Great song and great moans at the ends! Oh a technical glitch happened....in the middle of this song, the amp cord came out of his guitar and so he just stopped..everyone clapped and got a kick out of it as Lindsey waited while Ray came up and fixed it. Lindsey then made a comment about the glitch and said he was going to take off where he stopped and he sure did. Got a standing ovation for this one too...
Landslide- what a great classic. No dedication to anyone. Just Stevie and Lindsey on the stage. Great interaction with this song...lots of smiles and teasing..I loved it!!! They both seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot.
Say Goodbye- well this is the first song that made me cry. Just Stevie and Lindsey on stage. I had a really close of view of Stevie's face during this song. And I know pain when I see it! Old memories must have been flowing....This song must be really hard for them to sing, but it was beautiful and heartwarming. They sang facing each other.
WTWCT- sorry but I do not like this song. Yes, I said it! I clapped and enjoyed it and everyone seemed to like it. At the end Stevie said into the mic, "what IS the world coming to? I tell you she was so vocal tonight!! it was great!
Destiny Rules- loved the harmony on this one between S&L. Seems not too many people have the new album as many had no clue what song this was..but they enjoyed it. Stevie rocked and and got into it!
Beautiful Child- well this is the second song that made me cry! Stevie said that this was a song that she never expected to do live and was so happy about it..said it was from the album tusk. She sounded like an angel. Just exactly almost like the album.
The harmony when Lindsey joins in on his part was chilling. I love that song and to hear it live was a major favorite for me and a highlight of the night.
Gold Dust Woman- the gold shaw is back! Song sounded the same as always, but this time Stevie really did not explode like on the dance. But she had fun singing this and smiled. No twirling though..unless it was when I blinked...lol
I'm So Afraid- awesome song!! I was so annoyed that everyone sat down around me for this song. I love the rhythm of this song. He jammed and played his heart out!
Silver Springs- this song was a favorite tonight..but not really much drama. They sang to each other but not with the "looks" that the Dance gave us..
Tusk- was fun to hear...and I so enjoyed watching Lindsey's hands play the beginning of this song..for some reason his fingers really jiggle on this one..lol. Yes its my Lindsey finger fetish!
Stand Back- well..the crowd LOVED IT! Stevie really got into it too...I am not a great fan of this song but it sounded great.
Go Your Own Way- this song was all Lindsey! He rocked and ran around the stage and butted heads with John and then butted shoulders with Stevie...they had lots of fun tonight. Oh and he remembered the Dance injury as when he hit Mick's cymbals on the drums with his hands, he remembered to keep this hands closed! :)
World Turning- not a fan of this song. Loved it when Stevie sang the Chris lines. But could totally do without the Mick solo! Boring!!! I sat for this one and sighed at Mick.
Lindsey stayed on the stage and sat at the side on the soundboard so i watched his behind the whole time!! :)
Don't Stop- well it was not the same without Chris, but it rocked the house. Stevie sang her parts and sang them well. It was great but sad cause we knew the end was near.
Goodbye Baby- well..as the last song of the night..I would have liked another song. Stevie sang perfectly and had a cute little pink shaw on. The gang was around her. I just really really really missed Songbird at this very moment. Not sure what song could have been the final song but this song just kind of floats in and out.

So all in all the concert ROCKED! I can't wait for you all to see it and review it yourself. It definitly surpassed the Dance tour and has to be one of the best concerts I have seen. There just was so much given to us. The crowd seemed to really enjoy it and the MAC seemed happy! They were on top form and sang perfectly. Lindsey lead them and they followed. He was amazing and he smiled so much! I am glad there is so much more love with them all. No tension at all with anyone in the group. I am sure there are a few glitches to work out with sound and such, but all in all, the first concert was very impressive and should prove to EVERYONE that the Mac is back and better then ever. I am just so happy for them that they are at such peace and am enjoying themselves.

Good night everyone, I am winding down and know my review could be ALOT better but I am getting sleepy.

I am glad they are playing Eyes of the World. Lindsey played it with a lot of energy during the Cradle tour. I didn't recognize it until he started singing. I have a live version off the Internet, probably from one of the early Dance concerts, in which I could swear he sings a verse different from the studio version. But it's hard to tell because I can't make out what he is saying.

I love the bit about the guitar coming unplugged during Big Love. That's a memorable moment. When something like that happens in a show, it's a lot of fun because it makes the performance special when you remember it.

One of my favorite bands stopped in the middle of a song once, and started over. The singer had lost his place in the song and just couldn't find it. Later the band was playing its biggest hit at the time and stopped in the middle of the song. The singer said, "The hell with it, that song was boring me." And they moved on to an instrumental. It was great.

No, cameras are not allowed. In fact, we saw security take one from the front row. But I got mine in and took a few pictures. Just a little hint - I find using 400 speed film and no flash makes a great picture. Good deep color and you don't draw attention with a flash.

800 speed works even better if you can find it!

What about Say Goodbye :(

Say Goodbye was sooooo emotional. It was just the two of them and they NEVER took their eyes off of each other. They sang it face to face. And although there didn't seem to be any romantic chemistry this night, there is an obvious love and very deep bond between them. You can clearly see a loyalty and a concern for the other persons feelings and a support. Like I said in another post I think Stevie cried a little.

MUSIC REVIEW | FLEETWOOD MAC
NEW SONGS DESERVED BETTER EFFORT

Oh, if Fleetwood Mac could only erase the past . . .

The four remaining members of the musical dynasty -- Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Stevie Nicks -- could go on tour to support the group's newest album with the attention it deserves.

Without the help of longtime singer-songwriter Christine McVie, the quartet has produced its best record in more than two decades with the new Say You Will.

But 36 years of history haunts the trademark. And wiping it away would have meant that the band wouldn't have played to nearly 14,000 fans in Value City Arena last night, augmented by seven additional musicians.

The group began as a blues band sporting three lead guitarists. The addition of Buckingham and Nicks for the 1975 self-titled restart made the band platinum-value musical currency. The current reunion album began as a Buckingham solo until the record company balked at the brilliant pop tunesmith's lack of marketability on his own. The collection was finished with Stevie Nicks songs, and it was credited to Fleetwood Mac. The tour ensued.

Last night's set list encompassed the hit-making legacy. Given that the two most marketable personalities were there, it wasn't difficult. But the absence of McVie left a lack of balance on the well-known tunes and shortchanged the newer material.

That's not to say that some of the old tunes weren't memorable. The over-exposed Rhiannon sounded welcome, as it rode a thundering beat and one of Nicks' warmest leads. And Landslide, delivered just by Buckingham on acoustic guitar and Nicks on vocals, was lovely and delicate.

But too many of the old hits were muddied and indistinct: Nicks singing hers with lack of animation and Buckingham too intent on proving his prowess as a rock god.

Worse, songs from the new album such as Running Through the Garden and Peacekeeper were folded into the bland delivery.

Still, at its best, the concert reinforced the strength of the new album. Buckingham's Say Goodbye was delicate; Nicks' Say You Will lost only some of its sparkle in the translation; and What's The World Coming To was nearly as hypnotic as on the album.

There are nearly a half-dozen more songs on the recording that could make for memorable moments in concert -- if it weren't for the past 36 years.

I am not too surprised by the review as some of Nicks' tunes are becoming a bit of a tired war horse. Since I did not attend the show it will be hard to judge it. Let's hope they play with the setlist at least with the running order to possibly get better transitions. It's really hard to balance the new album with the older hits, that's just a reality.

Did they sing Destiny Rules?? I thought it was on the set list. If they did do it how did it sound??I don't get to see them until June 24 th.

Wow, looks like they didn't chose to open with "Eyes." That's cool though. I wonder if they will make any other changes for the next show.

ADD RED ROVER!

It sounds wonderful! I am thrilled the band is using so many songs from the new album! That's great! Did the band come to the stage and interact with the fans? (shake hands, etc) I hope you are catching up on your sleep! :)
