Just reading throught he treads discussing the solo careers of SN, LB and CM. How do you think SYW would be selling(the CD and the tour) if Stevie had decided not to come back and record and tour with "the boys"?
Not very well, but who knows, maybe "the boys" would have taken a dif. turn and produced something that really knocked us out?

I think LB's GOS songs were great in their original form without SN. So, if they had just released those, that would have been fine with me. However, I am glad they did not because I like the vocals on all of the SYW songs better.

Though under the FM name which is what they wanted, I don't thnk WB would've agreed to release it (had that been the case) since, for whatever reason, Stevie is the one they seem to want to "market" but only as a package with Lindsey (as of course there was no promotion for BTM and that just had SN and no LB (aside from his guest appearance on BTM that is). I mean, "I" would've bought it but...woulda been WB loss I guess. :)

I believe Lindsey would have gone ahead with his plans for a solo record. That might have entailed switching labels, which I would have welcomed.
But since Stevie agreed to do the album and Lindsey seems to be happy about that, the rest is wishful thinking.

If Stevie didn't join SYW then it would have been a Lindsey solo album and they don't usually sell well. I would have bought it and HELL I would have DEFINITELY seen it live ( for alot cheaper!) but Im so thankful to GOD that Stevie did join because its been the happiest moments listening to that cd.

Personally, I wouldn't mind. I'm a bigger fan of Lindsey, and I think his GOS tracks are great. I'd like him going solo, but I still think he would have John and Mick on many tracks.

Since most of the songs I like on SYW happen to have been penned by Nicks, I say I may not have bothered buying it if it had been just The Boys Club. I would have purchased GOS had it been released.

I think it would have been named: Say You Wont

It probably would've been picked up by a smaller label and put out as a Buckingham solo album- which happens to employ Mick and John. But, for sure, it wouldn't have been released as a Mac record without SN, simply cause the public wouldn't accept it as that. They tried that once with Time. The entire marketing spin is that its the "first studio FM record with LB and SN in 16 years", failing to acknowledge that 2 albums came out since '87, one of which Nicks was on.
In any event, I would've been just as happy with a solo album.

Well, I agree to a point Jeffles but from the way you speak of BTM & "Time" (or at least "Time"), it sounds as if Warners TRIED to push a "non BN lineup" album and the point is, they didn't do anything for "Time". OK, it may have "failed" (commercially speaking) anyways but they are at least partly to blame for it's "failure".
Also, and I could be wrong but the current members of FM (going by what I can of them) seem to have this "looking down" attitude towards the "going with a smaller label" idea. Maybe not, and if all this was to be the case, "the boys" may have eventually relented and realized a "big label" wasn't going to do it and then they'd get it out in some other form but it seems to me that they'd wait TOO long before that would happen, as much as I'd be all for it etc. but eh, who knows? :)

There would have been no new FM album.Linds would have released his solo album..which would have been awesome..even though it would not have gotten the recognition it deserved.Bottom line..Stevie pretty much holds FM future in her hands when she wants to.I remember during the Dance..there was a review that stated "Stevie Nicks IS Fleetwood Mac".This is very true.I don't think it is fair, because they were fine and dandy before LB and SN..but they had never had a focal point like Stevie before, and haven't since. This is also another example of how overlooked Linds is..the guy is a f-ing genius..but when push comes to shove most people are gonna want to see Stevie, just cause she has established this amazing following over the years..

I also think that, most likely, there would have been no album without Stevie. I also doubt that Lindsey's album would be released either, being that WB said that they weren't interested anymore. That is of course if he didn't get a new label, like Carne Vaca said. Over all, I wouldn't have minded if GOS came out instead (even though a FM album is even more exciting),since I wanted to hear GOS, Twist of Fate and the other not-used demos on an album.

Then it would be a Lindsey Buckingham solo album with a Fleetwood/McVie providing rhythm backup...The new band would be called "Bac" & the album called "GOS"...lol...Brian J.
