It is with deepest regret that we have to announce the cancellation of the Fleetwood Mac fan Convention.
Two factors have contributed to this:
Firstly, the lack of support from the bands’ management has made it impossible for us to secure merchandise or promotion. This is due to the fact that there are no plans at the moment to tour the UK, and so there is no commercial value for the band to warrant spending money on promotion. We do appreciate that at the moment the focus of management is the promotion of ‘Say You Will’ in the US and forthcoming North American tour.
Secondly, we have been genuinely disappointed by the lack of response from Fleetwood Mac fans in the UK, despite many assurances from fans that there was a market for such an event. We have not sold enough tickets to make the event viable, bearing in mind that we need to know numbers in advance for catering.
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has supported and contributed to the planning of this event in any way. To Bob Brunning for his advice and enthusiasm, to ‘Fleetwood Bac’ for their time and talents, to Neil O’Donoghue for help with the website and to the Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks online fan community at large for promotion and support.
We are really sorry to have to cancel this event, it was something that we were looking forward to putting on for UK fans as we do feel that fans here get a rough deal when it comes to Fleetwood Mac. They have not toured here since 1990 and it is looking doubtful that we will see them on this upcoming tour – although we remain ever hopeful and ever loyal.
