View Full Version : You KNOW it's coming, so how can we make the best of it?

Whether the band continues after this tour or not, we are probably minutes away from Mick branching his greedy fingers into a movie version of the FM story. I can feel in my bones it's his next thing. I just hope it's not a telemovie that will rerun on the Lifetime channel.
Knowing full well that Mick will put Mr. Todd or an equivalent loser in charge of scripting and casting (can't you see Drew Barrymore as Stevie Nicks? ugh), let's have a go at it.
Name and cast the movie.
(I know, it makes me feel cheap & like I'm selling out, too, but Mick IS gonna do this thing with or without us.)
I know the idea of casting has floated around the net for years, but last time I read fans were proposing Jenny Garth, Crystal Bernard, and Sally Struthers to play Stevie. So it's been awhile.
I'd be fine with a plain title like THE CHAIN.
I'm not fussing over physical resemblances or ages at this point:
Chris - Meryl Streep or Nicole Kidman
Lindsey - John Cusack
Mick - John Malkovitch
John - (help)
Stevie - Anne Heche Lafoon (lol)
I'll need to think about Stevie.
And I'll probably change my mind abou t the others, too.
Please do better.

Hmmm this is quite difficult... interesting idea darklinen. :)
ok ...
Chritine:Cate Blanchett (http://cateblanchett.moondogdesigns.com/gallery/premiere/ttmr/008.jpg)
Stevie:
Winona Ryder (http://www.winona-ryder.hpg.com.br/imagens/Winona_Ryder_560.jpg) (LOL hey, she's little...and she's got big eyes..) or maybe Kate Hudson (http://www.adoring.net/images/katehudson/hudson13.jpg) ..might be too young
Lindsey: Paul Rudd (http://www.efanguide.com/~paulrudd/pic/out/out14.jpg)
no idea for Mick and John yet.

Stevie - Cate Blanchett (more for mystery than anything ellse), Renee Zellweger (she is so kewpie (sp.") doll-like and can sing), La Ryder is OK because she could have the look.
Christine - Cate Blanchett (probably better here than as Stevie), Kristen Scott Thomas, Emma Thompson
John - anyone
LB - Paul Rudd, John Cusak, and, I think, Tobey Maguire.
Mick - Maggie Smith

I thought the idea of turning 'Rumours' into a West End play was band enough, but a film..... in the words of Junie B. Jones...."P.U.!"

I am LOL at Tobey Maguire as Lindsey. Can't you see him trying to screech and act manic onstage! Paul Rudd would be a great choice.
I love the idea of either Cate or Emma as Christine - they both ooze coolness & sophistication. Glenn Close could work, too.
A woman as Mick would be hilarious. She could borrow his RS cover cheerleading outfit.
I could see Winona as Stevie only if it were dubbed. Stevie's hard to cast.
It's funny that none of us has tried to cast John. This part could open doors for some lucky mute actor.

Hey, Ben Stiller as Lindsey (with blue contacts) might work, too. He has the whole anger thing down.

I thought Xena (can't think of her real name) did a great job as Stevie in SNL. She looked like her and even sounded like her. Granted it was a parody, but I'm sure she could be serious if she tried.

I like Lucy Lawless, but they'd have to shrink her height and build for her to pull it off as Stevie in a serious film.

I thought we had already decided years ago that Jason Patric was gonna be lindsey and genie francis (laura from general hospital) would be stevie.
I had a good one for chris before but i can't remember who it was now. John is a hard one but in al honesty he wouldn't have a major part cuz john has always been in the background anyways.
And of course Mick already thinks he is a thespian so i am sure he would insist on playing himself.

Well, I would normally try and cast all 16 of 'em but in the spirit of this thread and since Mick would ignore the non Rumours people (well, maybe not PG but...) anyways, I'll just throw out some ideas for his "accepted five":
STEVIE: Nancy Allen
LINDSEY: Aidan Quinn
CHRISTINE: Helen Mirren
JOHN: Jean Reno (or sometimes Dave Mason reminds me of JM so hmm...)
MICK: Jonathan Pryce
Hmm, I wonder what Mick would tell the screenwriter to write (as to how to hide the non BN members/lineups and/or imply that the non BN lineups/members existed? Maybe that would make a fun new thread?! Oh, well, I guess it's Reno for John then! :) ).

LMAO, I read this too quickly and thought you said Nancy Walker for Stevie. I thought, well, she is short . . .
Then, when I mistook Jean Reno for Janet Reno (think Reno time on SNL  ), I went back and realized my mistake.

That Nancy Walker thing was hilarious.
Maybe it would be easier to post the WORST or most ridiculous candidates for each part.
My picks:
Stevie - Mandy Moore
Christine - Christina Aguilera
Mick - Dennis Rodman (still in the cheerleader get-up:eek: )
John- Joey Lawrence
Lindsey -Justin Guarini
I'll need time to think of a title. Hmmm.

Since I am a Lindsey fanatic I would have to say these two choices for his role
Patrick Dempsey
James Frain

And if we're going for humor, Brad Garrett from Everybody oves Raymond could do the Mick eyes pretty well. Imagine him 100 ibs lighter & feigning an English accent, too. Not to mention the drag stuff. Oy. :)
Seriously, Patrick Dempsey could be a good Lindsey choice. He has the coloring, build, and jumpy movements.
Who's James Frain?

Are we thinking of this thing as a big studio release? I figured more like a Lifetime TV movie. Shouldn't we be thinking TV stars instead of A list movie stars? How about:
Stevie: Christina Applegate
Lindsey: Screech from Saved by the Bell
Chris: Christine Lahti
John: Benny Hill
Mick: Dame Edna

Well hey, if we're targeting the Lifetime Channel/audience, this should be the cast:
Stevie - Meredith Baxter
Christine - Judith Light
John - Bryan Austin Green
Lindsey - Regis Philbin
Mick - Bea Arthur

For the Lifetime feel, Joanna Kearns might work as Christine. :)
For the ridiculous big budget (I can just see the banner):
JACK NICHOLSON AS STEVIE NICKS (In his best Christian Slater voice: "Yer not takin' "Silver springs" of the f@*kin' "Rumours" record Mick!")

Switch the John and Lindsey actors and I love it.
If we have to get some movie starts and character actors in there then how about
Stevie: Gweneth Paltrow
Lindsey: Ben Aflect
Christine: Emma Thompson
John: Patrick Stewart
Mick: James Cromwell on crack

Yeah, Angelina was the one I meant for Action Stevie.
I know Kate is Mrs. Spielberg, but I think I mean someone else. Who's the muscular one who's in T2, I think? (I never saw it.) Maybe I'm thinking Bridget Fonda as Action Chris?
Wow, am I off in tangent-land now, but I hate that I can't remember.
Hey, maybe the next Muppet movie can be the FM story. Stevie always said she loved Miss Piggy, which would make Consuela the chicken or Janis or Rolf the dog at the piano as Chris, Gonzo the Great as Lindsey ("Sure, if you want to do it the EASY way."), Zoot or Sam the Eagle as John ("You are ALL weirdos."), and Animal as Mick (the facial expressions are perfect).

Linda Hamilton, the one who used to be married to the Titanic director, who did Terminator2...James Cameron!
Animal, the muppet, was actually created in Mick's image.

For the 70s Rumours Version:
Lindsey - Joseph Fiennes (they both have those awesome eyes)
Stevie - Faith Hill (beautiful blonde, and can sing)
John - Robert Downey Jr. after a few days of living in an alley
Chris - Gwenyth Paltrow (She does a good fake British accent. You'd have to give her a bad haircut, first, though)
Mick - Ozzy Osbourne
But truly no one can do them justice!
