"Rhiannon" has always been MY fave, but it has, in the last few years, gotten kind of "old & tired". "Gold Dust Woman" is starting to show its age, too. "Sisters Of The Moon" still kicks.

Nothing after Tusk of hers measured up, at least to my ears..."Gypsy" maybe, but that still paled to previous stuff...and DEFINITELY nothing on Tango or Behind The Mask (although I heard a studio outtake of "Affairs Of The Heart" recently that blows away the album's version)

I'm thinking that some of the SYW tunes are as strong as her older material (well, a couple of them ARE "her older material" )

I have to say, i agree, it is so hard to choose, because Stevie has written some truelly heartwrenching songs. I love Silver Springs and always have, ever since it was released (and was so relieved to see that it was recorded for The Dance). But Storms is such an amazing song too, so i would opt for those (today anyway!!!)

Illume will, i think, in time become a classic
Say you will, had the potential, if she'd added another verse

"Gold Dust Woman" is my fave, but the reason I love it is because of Lindsey's guitar. So I'll have to go with "Sara"....or maybe "Angel".

Beautiful Child for the vocal performance.

Dreams or Sara for performance and lyrics. I am about to add Thrown Down to this list. Something about this song really touches me. I just can't get enough of it!

What a difficult question, but I'd say..

Storms
Silver Springs
Gypsy

or...
Sara
Sweet girl..
Seven Wonders

how many songs beginning with S, isn't that weird?

There's not a single song that touches me as much as "Landslide" in its original format.

I've found that most people get really sick of it, having overheard it and everything...but I tend to respect a song and know when I should hear it and when not.

That said, "Dreams" is a beauty - from the opening, weary "hmmm-mmmm-mmmm" to the fade-out.

"Silver Springs" and "Sara."
Hey ChiliD, where did you find that "Affairs of the Heart" outtake? It would be fun to hear it.

I have a copy of an Affairs of the Heart outtake. The song is my least favorite of any of Stevie's releases, and the version I have is similar to the BTM version. Just not my taste.

Stevie has often said that all of her songs are like children to her, and that it's impossible for her to pick a favorite, because that would be like naming your favorite child.
I have a similar problem, because everytime I try to list my "favorite" Stevie songs, I end up realizing that there were so many I left off.

Even the ones that I'd classify as my "least favorites" still hold a place in my heart. Overall, her music speaks to me far more than any other songwriter I've ever listened to. Even after all of these years of listening to her music, I've never grown tired of it, and I never seem to get enough of it.
So, in that sense, every song is a favorite in *some* way.

Anyway, with that long preamble out of the way, my current Top 10 favorites of Stevie's Mac contributions are....

Rhiannon
Silver Springs
Storms
Gypsy
When I See You Again
Freedom
Destiny Rules
Thrown Down
Everybody Finds Out
and
Not Make Believe

This is the SAME exact way I feel about Lindsey!! Even my least fave songs hold a spot in my heart! His music has spoken to me more than any other artist I've ever heard. I have only been a fan since 2001, but now that over 2 years have passed, I'm STILL a HUGE fan...and I would say I am a bigger fan than I was in 2001 when everything I heard was new and fresh to me!! We are ALL truly blessed by being fans of FM!! :)

I should say Sara since I sing a cover of it in my band, however, I think that the vintage Stevie songs in Fleetwood Mac remain to be GDW and Rhiannon, I know they've been played (and played) to death but they really are the essence of Stevie's incredibly important creative force in Fleetwood Mac--her witchy vibe and mystical aura. I never get tired of hearing those songs either, she sounds brilliant on both, smooth and powerful.

I remember how much I loved hearing Stevie's voice on the radio when I was a kid... long before I paid any attention to song titles, or band names.
Then when I "discovered" her in 1985, and started going back thru to buy her prior albums (and her releases with FM), I was amazed at how many of these songs I already knew and loved, and even had memories attached to.

Like I've said, what's even more remarkable to me now, is the fact that eighteen years later, and I'm just as enthralled by Stevie as ever.
With age and maturity I have developed an even greater appreciation for her writing style and her unique vision.

I pretty much lost all interest in so many other artists that I was into in my early teens, but Stevie has never bored me or let me down, and I "get" her music on an even deeper level now than I ever would have thought possible.

The love affair continues... nearly two decades later, and counting. :D

I have to say Rhiannon, Landslide, Silver Springs and from the new album my favourites are Running through the Garden and Everybody Finds Out - it's awesome that Stevie still comes out with such brilliant rockers!
