OK - I think we will see the return of the dreaded by some black dress. I have to say as much as I am tired of the black dress, I kind of missed it on the Today show.

Let's just hope she does not haul out in that duster-esq. thing she wore on the Leno show with Sheryl Crowe and with the Dixie Chicks at the Divas show.

Moreover, I want boots!!!!!!!!!

Any comments, predictions, etc.

Well, I think she looks pretty good in pants. Maybe with boots or high heels and something sparkly (tunic like) on top. Black, light pink or beige, or red.

Who are we kidding, here?!

Lets be honest, the ONLY WAY she will retire that dress is if moths destroy it!!!!!

But, heres to optimism!

P.S. LOL!

No, to the black witch dress! Yes, to the pants and a spangly, sparkly top. Stevie looks good in burgandy. I'd like to see her with a little class, not like a refugee from Bewitched.

Okay, I'm seriously demented, I was actually thinking about this in the shower this morning. Keep in mind that she has to come up with TWO outfits, one for each night. I hope she doesn't wear the same dress with a different shawl or whatever....

Pleeeease, Stevie, get Margi Kent's butt over to that sewing machine and put her to work for this tour!!!

Livia -

I would just love it if she would wear the white dress in your avatar; she looks fantastic in it!!!!! :D

Also, she had a few different colored outfits and boots during The Dance tour. So, here's hoping she will do the same for this tour.

Okay: if she shows up wearing that mob widow, horrific moo-moo, I will make it a point to show up at a live show with a bran-spankin'-new wardrobe for The Nicks. That thing is so damn ugly and it should be so worn out with rips and pit stains already!!! Good lordy...is she looking to get savaged by the press?!

Anyone notice that ever since the IRS disallowed her significantly high-dollared amount of a tax deduction for "stage wear" back in about 1994 or 95, she's pretty much worn "that" dress almost exclusively?

sulamith
04-23-2003, 10:14 AM
She did have a few great pieces for the Dance Tour. She wasn't photgraphed much in them, but there were some great coats and dusters and things. Where are those?

Chili I noticed that IRS thing as well. It's like she's scared to spend money on clothes now.

I drive myself crazy on this subject. She's a diva, and she should have a wardrobe befitting of that. Doggone it!

She's a beautiful lady and that same old dress makes her like a frump.

Please Stevie, hear our cry!

I've noticed that, too! It dates back to the Dance tour. Regardless, though, she has OODLES of money pouring in, she can afford a damn new dress! She's known Margi Kent long enough where she could get a damn discount. If that doesn't work...there's always Penneys.

Say you will
Say you will wear a brand new dress
At least give us time to change your mind
It always seems to heal fashion missteps
If we could get you to change that dress

Step into the velvet of a new dress
Let yourself lay back in new fabrics
Take on the situation but not the torment
Now you know that old dress was as ugly as it seemed

dissention

Even better:

Just like that old funeral dress
Sings a song, sounds like she singing
Ooh, baby, ooh...take me off!

And the days go by
Like a strand in that dress
In the bad fashion sense that is my own
I begin again
Said to my friend
"I'm shopping at JC Penneys"

C'mon everyone! Join in on the fun!

Thrown Down
Like a rotted old black dress

Maybe now we can prove to you
That that dress is just no good for you
You should not be togehter

You're not like other people
You shouldn't wear a uniform

Well you can sit outside the mall and wait
Well I will go in and buy something for you

Thrown down
thrown it down, Stevie!

Some call my black dress a snooze
Yet - I say to Margi - make it again
Oh - they'd like to wrap me in other velvet robes and a plume
Does any here - ooo know I like to stay the same

Oh no Oh no Oh no

Oooooooo - I will not be in another dress, another dress, not your dress, not another dress, same outfit, same dress

(twirl and violent shaking while continuing)

not your sister's dress, sister's dress. dress AHOh AH thekafadflkafadfl;khf;akjdf;laksjf

I don't know, that dress is appropriate if she's in official mourning for Doc Atkins.

Lose yourself of the black frumpy dress
For you have not been wearing what flatters you best
And you must just give it up, for you're Jay Leno's guest.
You could wear FAKE (:p ) fur
Or even your feathered hat
You could be gypsy garbed
But that dress you'd regret...
Regret...
Regret...
Oooh
The dress please....forget.

Short of strapping yourself to a canon and firing yourself into her house, I don't think there is a way to get a message to Stevie that will actually be seen by her.

I guess you could get into Leno and hold up a huge sign that says, "Get a new wardrobe or go naked, Stevie!"

Nah, I don't guess that would go over too well.

Ah well, there's always "Ask Stevie" on the Nicksfix. You know she checks that every day herself and always gives such detailed answers!

Hopefully, I can assume the sarcasm of that last part wasn't lost on anyone.

Rhiannon's Black Dress:

The Black Dress must reek like old gym socks
And wouldn't you love to burn it?
If you still have the receipt and box
I implore you to return it!

All my life I've never seen a woman
Wear the same damn dress

That I must confess.

And then they would have to video tape her shopping....

"We've got to go save her!"

OMG I would pee myself laughing. We gotta do it. We need to find out who her publicist is and convince her that this is what the public wants to see!!

By the way I just read your "you can sit outside the mall and wait." and I'm dying here, that's hilarious! Same with "you're not like other people, you shouldn't wear a uniform." LMFAO! I think "Throw It Down" should be our theme song here until she changes her clothes.

Sung to the tune of "Outside the Rain"

Outside her dressing room
Her heart skips a beat
Well, she is lonely
Called Joan Rivers' fashion victim of the week
Without that dress she feels so lonely

Looking at my dress, for a very long time
Long enough to know
Good fashion is a phrase- I've been trying to find it
But words don't matter
Only what Margi sews together

Maybe it's only a dream
I don't want to feel new fabric
Well, it's one more nail- in my coffin
I sooooo believe that

So, she's still lonely
She says that it feels like forever
Maybe you never knew her
Maybe you thought that she'd never
Change her dress- but she's changing it
Her fans were wrong

But, oh how it feels like dying!
No dress so ugly is that hard to find
Just go shopping at JC Penneys
'Cuz she's tired of trying
'Cuz she's tired of trying

Look in my eyes
Touch my polyester
Baby, there's no one
That could ever replace my black moo-moo

Good fashion is a phrase- some entertain it
If you find it, bow down and thank God!

Oooooooh, somebody said it to me "Outside my dressing room..."

Here's my ditty:

Now there you go again
Wearing that same old dress
Who am I to change your clothes?

It's only right you should dress the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound, of the moans and groans
Like a backlash...drives you mad
In the stillness of wondering
Do I look like a hag?
Should my dress get lost?
Ooo dress get lost...

Laughter only happens when your wearing
That same old witch dress since first playing
Say...wardrobes come and they will go
Once and for all, change that dress
And you will know...you will know...

Thanks, Livia! I'm waiting in anticipation to read your version of Dreams! Isn't this so much fun?! What other song could I do now...hmmm.

It's better to have worn that dress
Than never to have dressed at all
Yes, it's better to have worn that dress
Than to always be bare ass...out on stage

Well, it would break your heart
Tear it apart
To see that Dr. Atkins...cel-u-lite
'Cuz no one understands
The affairs of my attire

Juliet's Black Dress:

It was way too old.
It was far to black.
But it must have been a bargain.
Coz she owns about 50 of them
Ugly old black dresses that she wears all the time.

She doesn't try hard
to wear a new color
And it's really not that tough.
Why not consult a... catalogue?

So we found a star with an ugly dress
Oh yes and everyone here hates it.
No one is wrong.
It's a little bit like that
A little bit like a bad fashion statement.

(ps whichever catalogue Stevie would actually purchase a new dress from definately deserves the title of "book of miracles" )

I think we all need to meet in a karaoke bar and peform. I definatly want to hear "outside the dressing room" lmao!

Another:

Until she herself
Became the dowdiest icon
As she grew older
Ooooh until she herself
Became just as boring
As was her wardrobe

And so you run to wear
What you know is blaah
There are too many new dresses
to CHOOSE FROM!
For the love that I have for this dress
For the love that I have for this dress
Grab a shawl!

Never did I mean to
Imprison me
Here in this black dress
Like I am in prison
For all the love that I have for this dress
For all the love that I have for this dress
Grab a hat!

Until she herself
Became a fashion victim
Leaving her heart broken
No fashion at all

Until she herself
Became Mr. Blackwell's worst dressed
Always frumpy
No fashion at all

And so you run to wear
What you know is blaah
There are too many designers
to CHOOSE FROM!
For the love that I have for this dress
For the love that I have for this dress
Tambourine!

Runnin' through the closet
I'm running in all black fabrics
Straight towards
Straight towards
What you know is realleeee bland
Too many new dresses to choose from here
For the love that I have for this dress
Curl my hair!

Great Job Everyone, what great laughs I've had!! ok, my turn!!! to the tune of Street Angel

I've been wearing my black dress...too long to tell
I keep performing in it at every concert, my street angel

once you wore black fur and brown pants...out in the cold
But street angels live with the same style
and they always will

Street angels aren't like anyone you know
they always wear black when they go where they go
They may tell you that they have high fashion in their hands
But they always go back to black
(they always wear black)

and no amount of crying changes her mind
no amount of praying...leaves that black dress behind
I know that you love me
and that you always will
You just want to change my dress by calling me...
my sweet street angel

Leave the cape here
You want me to say yes
I shouldn't have fear
Don't ask me why
I'm on Atkins diet
Got one black dress, I've lost the weight
Didn't need to buy it

I have come to know
This world of changing dresses
I shouldn't fight this board

So be true to me
My waistline's slimmer
If I'd only get my own stylist
Could show off I'm trimmer

Aaah
Dressed this way and ran (on my treadmill)

I am older now
But I still wear you-know-what
I lost 35 pounds
Won't dress to show it
So be true to me...

Don't take me to the mall
and take my dress away
In it I looked like an hourglass
but now its threadbare and fading fast
there are holes people can easily see

and I who in every concert dressed the same
will cough up some dough and get rid of my baine
I'll close my eyes and travel back
to the time when I wore white, red, and a only a little black
and the words from the Ledge with echo in my head
as my black dress slips away

Goodbye Baby
Although your clasp was broken
I won't forget you
Yes, you now are forboten (sp?)
You were with me all of the time
I'll be with you one day

And I who went to sleep with needle, thread, and shears
Woke up in tears, for a new dress has seemingly taken off years
And I who never, never wanted to say goodbye
As I sewed away

Goodbye Baby
Although your clasp was broken
I won't forget you
Yes, you now are forboten (sp?)
You were with me all of the time
I'll be with you one day

My pleasure! LMAO! My best yet:

Don' t take me to the Salvation Army
And make me give my black dress away
It was I who committed crimes against fashion
And the boos and groans like shattering glass went past me
Like a tunnel to Penney's

And I who went went to sleep in my mob widow moo-moo
Woke up with it gone and only my ghost white ass remains
I close my eyes and travel back
To the time when my fears went fading fast
And the words my dress spoke to me I'll never forget
"Slip me on along with big shoulderpads; it'll make the waist look slimmer"
As I slipped into fashion victim lists

Goodbye black dress
I hope your threads aren't broken
Don't forget the times we spent, my sweat plastering you to my back
Yes I was outspoken
"My dress will be with me all of the time"
I'll wear you again one day

And I who went to sleep in tears
Woke up in cold sweats for all of the years
And I who never, never said goodbye to my thrift-store threads
As I slipped into the grips of the fashion police

Goodbye funeral dress
I hope your breast still glitters
Don't forget the smell of my Atkins diet breath
Yes I was outspoken
"My dress is like my third ass cheek"

Disgusting~
Says the dress that I wear
At every concert, every appearnce, until the day that I die

Disgusting~
The way it hangs there
I am a black-wearer
So dig it fool (sorry for that one, couldn't think of anything else lol  )

I like the color black
I like the dress
I like the way I wear the same thing
every night
It's like living like a freakin' pauper
I own one outfit
With a golden shawl and a tambo

I'm alone now
With my dress
And I how love to wear it
How I can't give up
All of the concerts
The smell of secret solid
Shadow of a pit stain

I can't take this dress for granted
I wouldn't trade it for Chanel or Escada
Not for Donna Karan, not for any brand.

I need it to be there.
Just remember when I wear it
That it's a cry for fashion help...

This is addicting. I need to stop.

She had a blind womans sense of fashion
She makes our eyes hurt
She's got a million bucks
But won't buy new threads
She's had a few hard times
Sometimes it blows her mind
Those dresses she never tried on
Sometimes she wonders what they'd look like...

LOVE the Goodbye Blackdress versions that are up already, but it's such a great song, it can afford a third:

Don't take away my power
To dress myself in this
And make my shape like an hourglass
Since meals of carbs went shattering past
My shrunk ass
Like a surround-sounded exercising Trekkie

And I who went to sing onstage
Spun around in black, thinking it would still be the rage
You'll close your eyes and travel past
To the Buckingham-Nicks and Dance covers' contrast
And the words you heed every ten years or so
Find a new way to dress

Goodbye Blackdress
It's time your hem was raising
Don't flatter me
But my calves crowds will be praising
You were with me ALL the time
I'll let fans burn you today

And I who still wore the dress to brood
Woke up in the nude with Lindsey's 1973 attitude
And I who never, never did show skin
Let this rag slip away

Goodbye Blackdress...

I remember him
His sense of style not strong
No one dressed like him
He was someone

And I carried on like I couldn’t stop
You need to change your clothes, baby
And you, you stood in my way
Stood between me and my shawl

It was my sin, it was my shame
You were unconscious to the pain we were in
I hear there’s trouble in your closet down the hall…

I remember the dress,
I remember the throw
Show me the way back…
To the closet…

No one looked
As I walked by
My sense of style
Could make a baby cry

Y’said “don’t do it!”
Again and again…
First he took my shawl,
Then he ran

No one knows
How I feel
Just because I wear
Polka-dots with lines
One man walked away from me
He took one look at me
And ran for home!

Stand back, stand back!

In the middle of my room
I could not dress like you
Its all right, its all right….
We’ll go to Sacks in good time…

OK. I've decided that we really need to record this album. I think it's got hit potential.

And if all else fails, next time Edge of 17 rolls around at a concert, we can hand her copies of the album, and maybe when she listens to it, something might finally click???

Or hey, since she watches American Idol, maybe next week's theme can be "Stevie Nicks songs that have been adjusted to persuade her to stop dressing matronly and penniless."

Cryin in the morning, trying to be strong
Waitin for my consultants, waiting for their call
Dressing don’t mean what it says at all
My fashion statements say that Im destined to fall…

Cant stand it… you thought you saw something, on my sleeve
Cant stand it… it’s a shame it was just a stain, I got a reprieve

Why the sad face, oh darling…
Was it my black dress… shadow light
I meant to cause no trouble for you
This is the dress of my life

Cant stand it… you thought you saw something, on my dress
Cant stand it… its tacky as all hell, I do confess.
Cant stand it… woooh its just a dress, for one night
Cant stand it… I hope you change it.

The dress was gone, far away from me
You saw it on Today it wasn’t a dream
In those pants… that no one dreamed of
My fashion statements say that Im destined to fall..

Cant stand it… you thought you saw something, on my pants
Cant stand it… it’s a shame you didn’t tell me, before I danced
Cant stand it… well its just an outfit for today
Cant stand it… Ooohhh I hope you change it.

Woo Woo Woo I hope you change it.

Yeah Yeah Yeah you need to change it.

Woo Woo Woo We really mean it!

Would you change your dress
At the very last moment
Would you stop for a second
I think you should look in the mirror
In the concert light
He says, you're wearing THAT again
She says, I think I need a stylist, baby

Sometimes I wonder
If you’d let your fans dress you
Let them dress you up
Like a paper doll
Would you change your mind
At the very last minute
I think you stop for a second
And let them dress you

Well this could be a whole new wardrobe
A whole new wardrobe
A whole new wardrobe for you

That Black Dress (To The Tune of "Blue Denim")

I wore it the other day
I wore it again yesterday
You know you can expect me to wear it again
I am talking about That Black Dress

chorus:
Drab black sack...won't change with the decades
Or change with my weight...it's my fashion fate
It's always the same...it's glued to my frame
Drab sack...That Black dress
Drab sack...That Black Dress

I knew another way to dress
My fashion sense wasn't always a mess
Some days I'd wear cotton or suede
But this black dress I would not trade for jade
I turned away from the fashion police
This tired dress I will never release
You never thought I would still look the same
But I velcroed it on yesterday

chorus

Understanding style...understanding change
It isn't in my fashion range
Surrendering this dress...surrendering this mess
I'd rather dress like Sharon Gless

And I will never forget
The first time I saw it
A Morticia rag so rare
Like a frump-fest
No I will never forget
The first time I wore it
And Margi sewed on...my custom
Mic monitoooooor pouuuuuch...

Chorus

So I 'm going away for a shopping spree
If I remember where the mall is
And If I buy a new dress
I promise you...I might dare to wear it
Oh yes I'm going away on a shopping spree
If Sharon drives me to the boutique
And if I buy a new dress
I promise you
I might dare to wear it
I might dare to wear
I might dare to wear it

Stevie you're stuck there by your wardrobe door
In that raggy black sack
You've worn a hundred times before
You say "Yeah, well what am I supposed to wear?"
"I couldn't shop cause I was curling my hair!"

So you had a little trouble with your hip
And have a dress that's tired and it's ripped
Stop draggin that
Stop draggin that
Stop draggin that dress around

It's hard to give up the clothes you've worn out
It's hard to take off those worn out rags
This doesn't have to be an Oprah makeover
Just go to Macy's and fill up a few bags

I know you really want to tell it goodbye
I know want to wear a new dress
And twirl

Baby you should buy a new shawl and skirt
A snappy hat and some long pants wouldn't hurt
Stop draggin that
Stop draggin that
Stop draggin that dress around

There are dress stores open all over the world
Got many things to custom make for you
They'll make a wardrobe for a drab dressed star
You need someone who will outfit you

I know you really want to ditch that rag
Not even moths would touch that threadbare bag

Baby you would look so good in blue or red
Instead of looking like you just rolled out of bed
Stop draggin that
Stop draggin that
Stop draggin that dress around !

The last time I got a
Brand new dress
It was right before The Dance
I got myself about a dozen then
I should have bought myself some pants

"You've worn that thing for
You've worn that thing for how long?" they say.
"Ooooh, why don't you take it off"
They say, "It doesn't match the Reeboks, now, Miss Nicks"

Seems like a thousand days, I've worn this dress
Seems like a thousand days, I've worn this dress

You need some shirts, you need some gloves
Ditch that chiffon, it makes a mountain of your butt
You've got the time, you've got the taste
That Atkins diet gave you back your waist
Anna Sui would give some clothes to you
And Richard Tyler, he gave you a red dress too
Lose that moo-moo

Get new clothes, song bird, just for one tour
Well I know that your figure's great
That black dress ought to be tossed into the sewer
You live by the light of the moon
Toss that old rag in the fire
Get yourself into that old ballet room
Just how many clothes in there fit you now

Oooh, I can see the platforms
Well, all the colors are in there now
We're just requesting a change
So you like some kind of
Vogue/Elle compilation, resuscitation
Being the only one who won't change her dress
And give it a rest
Wear some great colors and some bright platforms

And if the dress retires soon
And the fans rejoice again
Why has your favorite dress become our greatest pain ?

OMG. Somebody stop me.

when I see it again
will it be the same
when I see it again
will it be black chiffon
when I see it again
will your great fans say

what's the matter baby
that black dress just drives us crazy
what's the matter baby
try gold, burgandy or ivory, just say maybe

So she walks slowly
down the hall
there are many dresses
in the closet

and she stares at the black
ooh, there are many black dresses
to stare at these days
If she sees Sheryl again
will your very best friend
will your very best friend
oh, replace that dress with some leather

repeat chorus if you'd like

and the fans say I want you
to change your fashion sense
so she stays up nights on end
well, at least she has some fans left

when I see it again
will it be the same
when I see it again
will it be black chiffon
when I see it again
will the back dress be over

over and over
again and again

the black dress remains the same

I found a song that required minimal lyrical adjustment. Get out your dance shoes & crank up the bass!

We see no change in sight
Watching her decline
She gets on the drab black dress
She's done it ten thousand times

When a look starts out on The Dance Tour
It doesn't do well in 2003
But the looks of the runway
That have come by over six years
Had really better stay away

I know you don't agree
Every day you tell me
I know you don't agree

I know you hate it
Every day I wear it
I say I adore it
What can I wear
You can't change me
You can't outfit me
The dress is on me
All of the time
Anywhere I stay
Anytime I play
Perform live
Perform live

Maybe you've got some new dress
That you can't get on me
Maybe it's the reason that you
Look way from me

It's not like this burial frock needs to be saved
Well you always know the shroud is on me
My friend

Where nobody sees me
At least without the dress on
She rarely goes out
She spends every day
Waiting for the day
When both the armpits air out

Saw I'd lost more pounds
And I saw my reflection
In the blue crystal lamp
'Til the Ledge board brought me down

Oh posters on this board
What is chic
Why don't you think this dress
Flatters each cheek
Can I wow you once more with my style
Like I dance atop the beautiful bathroom tile?

Dress, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I built my look around you
But time makes you bolder
Even Stevie Nicks gets older
And this dress makes her look older, too

So take this dress
Take it off
When I walk out onstage
You'll no longer scoff
And if you see me performing Edge of 17
With a stuffed animal hand me a new dress

STORES

Every fabric that would let skin breathe
I choose a little less
As you drag me on a shopping spree
This is only another test

Every dress I do try on
My resistance fades away
Did I ever exist outside this rut?
Is there a fashion consultant I pay?

Every hour in Blackdress I spend
My body tries to cry
Sweating through each rocking night
A catalog call inside

I have't changed the way I dress
Since MANY a year gone stale
But in those years and the lifetimes past
I would not ever buy retail
And I shopped neither mall nor online I know
Though the chance has always been
So I search to find brand new Blackdress
Within this bargain bin

(chorus)

So I try to say
Goodbye Blackdress
I'd like to wear you still a whole lot more
But my fans have belladonna tied up in promises
To visit department store
Visit
Department store
Ooooh visit
Department store

We were rancid
She said "Every night I shall wear Blackdress"
I should have known from the first
I'd look just-widowed
But I wore you from the start
For no wardrobe mistress would buy wholesale

I hate you people, making me waste time like this:laugh:

You could be my black dress
Threadbare hemlines ripping
I would wear none of the rest
Your chiffon seams my body gripping

Did you say it was ugly?
And did you say to change it?
Baby, I don't wanna know.

So I'll begin not to wear you
Turn around, see me sewing
I said I'd wear you years ago
And tell myself it never looked good...No...

Did you say that it was ugly?
And did you say to change it?
Baby I don't wanna know....Oh no...
And can you tell me what to wear now?
Really I don't wanna know.

Time cast a spell on my sense
But I won't change me
I could've worn something else
But you would not let me

I'll follow my fashion till the sound
Of my fans will haunt you
(Give me back my dress)
You'll never get away from the smell
Of the woman that wears you
(Was I just a prude?)

I'll follow my fashion till the sound
Of my fans will haunt you
(Give me back my dress)
You'll never get away from the smell
Of the woman that wears you

Wait a minute Stevie
Change that dress awhile
Said you'd wear it out
But you ought to burn it in the fire

Drowning in your black dress
Which everyone would love to change
And now it's on
You've got no style anymore
When you change that dress
Then call me home

And it was just like a great dark dress
Within the folds of your wardrobe
I think you have found your dress
It is worn out
And tearing at the laces
Tearing at the laces

Black dress... you're the evil in her heart
Never changed, never washed
And now it's on
It doesn't matter what for
When you wear that dress
I'll walk on by

All I ever wanted was to know that you were changing

If it seems just a little strange

Don't stop wearing that black dress
Don't stop, it soon will tear
It'll be dirtier than before
Your dress is gone, your dress is gone

Why not change for times to come
And forget about that dress that you've done
If the critics were bad to you
Just think what that dress will do

Something else in your closet there

(My first post-1st-night-of-Leno contribution: Destiny Rules/Cardigan's Cool)

Maybe I wore cardigan
Right on Blackdress
Maybe I bought some new dress
In a parallel universe
Maybe my sleeves were not supposed t0 hang around me

I've thought to change you now and then
I wonder can you come off or are you sealed
Sometimes I just stand
As I sing into the microphone
Just to make sure platform Reeboks are real
Just to make sure bad hip will heal

When I wear you again
As I ALWAYS do
It occurs to me that
Blackcardigan's cool
To conceal poochy stomach from the song lampooning Ledgie board
These days when standing next to Venus
It's just a no-glitter rule
I wear no jewels

Thursday night on the Tonight Show
How the song choice blew
I didn't sing my heart out
But somehow I knew
That that would be our second chance
That we could pitch our new album
We'd said "It's chilly, Matt Lauer, achoooo"

I like the front button sweater
I like Blackdress
I like the way that the whole look blends
Into my other nights
It's like working on an Amish country
Like a zipperless frock
Love my Blackdress

When I wear you again
As I ALWAYS do
It appears to me that
Blackcardigan's cool
To conceal poochy stomach from the song lampooning Ledgie board
These days when standing next to Venus

After The Fabric's Frayed

Well I haven't been out shopping much in Hollywood
I haven't seen what new designs are made
But what I've worn these last six years is all I know
Since the IRS cracked down on bills I paid

For me it's the only dress I'll wear today
And a shawl or two that I have stashed away
Even though the costume makes all my fans insane, it's okay
I'll wear this black dress even after the fabric's frayed

The fashion scare of a brand new dress is hard to take
We all have habits and maybe this is dream
The unchanged togs of a rock and roll woman make your eyes ache
This dress keeps comin even without the platform heels

For me it's the only dress I'll wear onstage
And the Reeboks for when my sore ankle aches
Even though the hem is trashed and seams blown away, it's okay
I'll wear this black dress even after the fabric's frayed
I'll keep wearing it...even after the fabric's frayed

Ragged dress reeks like a shrowd from Goodwill
Wouldn't you love to rip it?

She wares that rag like a bird wears feathers
Who will make her change it?
Who will make her change it?

All your life you've never seen a thing
but that Halloween frock

What would you say if promised that she change it?
Will you ever win...Will you ever win...

(Chorus: Raaaaagged....Raaaaagged)

She looks like a cat with matted fur
Hips lost in the fabric's darkness
She rules her closet like a fine Bewitched reject
and what if she goes bra-less...

All your life you've never seen a frock
as frumpy as this
Would you cheer if she changed it?
Will we ever win? Will we ever win...

(Raaaaagged....Raaaaagged...Raaaaagged)

Rags unwind...fashion's a state of mind
Your rags unwind and still it's a state of mind
I know the mall's somewhere,
but still it's hard to find
I know

Take me like the wind,

take me now
Take me like the wind,
baby take me to the store, store, store

There was no new look anywhere in sight
Could try inside-out
I had looked everywhere but the only look being worn on the stage
Was a corpse dress
Oooooh her Blackdress

She might be thrifty, she's no Penney's customer
And she was too proud
Go find some new tax loophole, give coupon to her
If that's what she wants, personal shopper...personal
If you were wiser you'd wear your boots

Onstage the same Blackdress gets worn
Online where the Ledgies still laugh and they scorn
Ledgies still laugh and scorn
Ledgies still laugh and scorn
Ledgies still laugh and they scorn

Don't settle for new look, settle for cardigan
Some personal shopper
Discount, well give that to her
Oh, if that's what she wants, personal shopper...personal
If you were wiser you'd ditch the pink scarf

And the dress that's worn through another night
Is Blackdress that was carried from the Old Country
Was removed from the body of Annabel Lee
And the style remains

And the guardian of your "Fashion Challenge" does not cry...

Unfortunately that was auctioned off on Ebay awhile back. i was one of the crazy fools who bid on it. It's from the Sorcerer video, isn't it?

Dressmaker take your time
make it as dark as night
Stevie will change her dress
on the tour in 2005

When the night is cold and still
When you thought
you'd had your fill
she wears the black dress
again, yes she will

You know all of her friends say "egads!"
she still knows how to paint her face
but there's only one skirt she needs
it's the swishy one with black lace...

THE SECOND TIME

Was it in my mind
Or was it real
That woman used to cool costume changes
Do you remember how
She used to dress
And Street Angel left her there
Right before the weight came off
Do you remember she used to dance
Do you remember, Gold and Braid
Did you feel like it was
The second time with you
That feeling of a Leno deja-vu
Well it had to do with Blackdress redux
And Blackdress that she loved
And would always love
The second night to wear
In a row
She never changed back
Blackdress that she loved
And would zone out in
The second time to wear, same show
She never changed back
She could never change back

These have ALL made me laugh! They're hilarious! I've tried to do one:

I don't wanna know the reason why the black dress keeps appearing night after night
I don't wanna hurt your feelings with the truth
I just want you to look fine

Finally, Stevie
The truth has to be told, now
Take a listen to your fans
For cryin' out loud

Trying to look good
Oh, you think it's workin' but it's not, no
It's only making you look frumpy
Oh, sad but true, sorry.

I don't wanna know the reason why you can't change into something more flattering
I don't understand why no one has told you
That the black dress is fattening

I don't wanna know how much you pay Margi
When all she's done is make one dress
I don't wanna hear that your dress is timeless
The time for change is long past

Don't get me wrong, we're thankful
You lost the shoulder pads and girdle
Without them, you thought that you'd look fat
Instead it helped, this is just like that

Try to catch a clue!
You'll look much better in a short skirt
And those pants were looking good, too
Clinging tight to you
Under a loose top
Yeah, that looks hot

I don't wanna know the reason why the black dress keeps appearing night after night
I don't wanna hurt your feelings with the truth, Stevie
I just want you to look fine!!

Am I the only one who hears her singing these in my mind when I read the lyrics on here?

(I am now a Senior Ledgie. I'd like to thank my Muse, and my favorite singer Stevie, who wears it.:) )

THE BATTLE OF THE BLACKDRESS

This was not prescribed, but after the drugs,
I decided to wear Blackdress for all time

I see something, I look like Whistler's Mother
I see Blackdress remaining when I am long retired
And the reason that I wear it when I'm onstage
And the reason that my feet no longer move

No one separates me from old Blackdress
Got a sore hip now, it's so sad
Like old lady
Plant old lady ten feet from Lindsey
And wish him to glance
And when your fans start asking you why
You don't change nothing

The Today Show, The Tonight Show, and the now upcoming tour

Fans ain't adapting to old Blackdress
They can hate it but love me
At least they're listening
But they know I'm prisoner in disguise

Who has dry cleaned it?
Have I one Blackdress, or is there more?
Have I been treadmilling?
Well, I say it's harder now
Well I got the message
Blame it on my Wild Hip
From what I can tell I need to stand still

You say fans are wanting Newdress
Movement is wrong
Well I can and I will wear Blackdress

When this battle is over
Blackdress will survive
In the healing of Wild Hip
No one walks anywhere
Oh, you wish it to mend, wish it to mend, wish it to mend

("Dare my Wild Hip")

Something on my dress
died last night
one more moth
with a bad heart
I think the seams went long ago
That's when I needed shoes
and support hose
That's when I needed shoes
and support hose
Well I run around and
get dressed without the lights
fearlessness is fearlessness
I won't forget to wear my tights
Where's my wild heart?
Upstairs in the closet, my wild heart
Where is the reason
don't blame it on "flea"
blame it on my black dress
There is no reason
I refuse to wear other colors at all
It got stranger
after I twisted my hip
in a Stand Back kick fall
Then tomorrow
they gaze dow into the tv screen
They said Stevie
not even you can wear the
same dress twice
It's not clean!
Well believe it then and
don't blame it on my soul
Blame it on my old clothes

I've decided to update my first song:

GARB! OH!

I stand immobile
In a look that ain't new
Like a nun it's my habit
Cardigan's J. Crew
From a time when I
Turned to stone
You could cry "Garb! Oh!"
Or even "Margi! No!"
You could call 911
Or I could just sweat

My hair I part
But then split ends come through
And I brush it so big
Like it's 1982
In this town full of nose jobs
In this town full of boobs
I had both mine reduced
Cause silicone leaked through
When I'm standing stiff at the mike
Calories I don't... lose

Lose myself of old frumpy Blackdress
For I have not been wearing what flatters me best
And I must just give it up, before I'm thrice Jay Leno's guest.
I could wear my fake fur
Or even my feathered hat
Could revive leg warmers
But Blackdress is my pet...
My pet...
My pet...
Oooh
My yorkie I....forget.

Hi Ledgies! I was Soooooo inspired by your Benefit songs in Aid of helping Stevie change her look, i composed this ditty to the tune of "talk to Me". I hope our charity will not go un noticed by Stevie....(sheesh, even Mick has dumped his "Hamlet" garb!!)

I can see that we're thinking 'bout the same thing
Your expression, as you see me in that old thing
We both know, redundancy's happenin’ here
Well there's no sense in dressing in that ol’ gown
My style gets worse when its treated with neglect
I should wear pants now, there's no fashion to fear

You can shop with me
Shop with me
You can shop with me
Set my gypsy garb free, baby

Dusty hems & dragging shawls are old schtick
Seldom altered, well what kind of outfit would you pick?
Leather Jacket & Armani pants will do

Well its not that hard, its really not that tough
To just ditch all that old Rhiannon stuff
I ‘ll keep the platforms baby
But there’s something you can do….

You can shop with me
Shop with me
You can shop with me
Help me set my gypsy garb free, baby

<b>WORN TWICE</b>
a la "Thrown Down"

You wore again
and we watched it happen
Both days...
such a shame
But more important
on both nights
We watched how bad that Lindsey played
He held his breath cuz there was not really much to say

Worn twice
you'll never get laid
Maybe now we could prove to her
A stylist would be good for her
a match made in heaven (in heaven in heaven in heaven in heaven)

You've shaken my faith in you, yea
You've shaken my faith in everything else
a decision you have made
and now we're all appauled

Style's something to hold on to
something inside me says you still have it
You're not like other people
you wear what you want to
Even if that means sporting your cardigan
J-Crew

Worn twice
like an old maid
Maybe now we could prove to her
A stylist would be good for her
a match made in heaven (in heaven in heaven in heaven in heaven)

We are not sorry
for anything we say
We love you dearly, Stevie
but you're dressing kind of gay
You can sit outside the store and wait
or you can dedicate yourself to fate

Oh, new gown
like a stylish babe
Maybe now that we've proved to her
a stylist could be good for her
She won't go back to faux pas (to faux pas to faux pas to faux pas to faux pas)

About just how much we thought her dress was crummy
(new gown)
About how difficult it had been...to watch her blunder...
(new gown)

I am seriously laughing my ass off here.....

Oh, and on another board, someone posted how to make your own Stevie doll. How do we like this for a new Stevie outfit? I think i'd rather see her in pants than a skirt though

The one where Patsy has osteoporosis is the Menopause eppy. I nearly died when Saffy told them the menopause support group was in the living room and Eddie ran to the trash basket. Speaking of the cardigan being "ripe," I was wondering how many of those same black dresses does Stevie own? I think she wore it during every single show. And I think the others wore the same clothes, too. Do they have someone clean the clothes between shows? Do they have several exactly the same??

I do miss the old days with new cool outfits to see all the time. But I think this thread would break her heart, not make her laugh. She was upset after all the criticizm from critics after her looks during Street Angel, but she went on. But if she knew her biggest fans were saying this (not just asshole critics), she probably really would give up touring for good. And we wonder why she never wants to do photo shoots anymore......can't say I blame her one bit....

(This isn't meant to be trying to rain on anyone's parade....it's just my feelings, that's all - one more link in the chain....)Continue with the paradodies....there are some darn good ones out there. Let's just hope she doesn't cancel out on Leno - good thing she *doesn't* get online....if she saw this, she'd be saying Goodbye Baby, Goodbye Leno, Goodbye Touring, I betcha... Street Angel broke her heart. Which broke mine. I saw the first show of that tour and loved it, loved her. It was excellent. I miss the old outfit changes something fierce. But it's her life. Whatever floats her boat, and keeps her still making records and still touring.....

Oh, come on...the woman has been in the entertainment business for over 30 years...if her skin was that thin, she wouldn't have lasted 30 days. Her career is her life, and I seriously doubt that she would have a nervous breakdown and go lock herself in her house because a few fans were poking fun at her clothes.

Ripe indeed.

I would love to see Stevie all glammed up for a change, I mean after all she is "pretty cute for her age" so she should play that up. I don't know why she's hiding behind that godawful black dress!! Also, we as her public demand that she show up at events in something befitting her fabulousness! It's only right dammit!

I said it was just my opinion. No need to get upset. Everyone can say what they think, no? If what you are all saying isn't suppose to upset her, why should what I say upset anyone here? It's just chit-chat. Chill out. I love all her old wardrobe changes. I guess that is more fun to talk about, to me anyways. I also like the outfits she's been wearing on the FWM promos for Say You Will. I love that velvet tunic shirt she had on with the black pants, it looked like it was dark blue with some green and red.... And that one pic of them outside and they are sort of looking up, I would love to see that outfit in more pics, to see what it looks like...it seemed retro or something, kind of different and pretty neat. Although I miss her old 70's and 80's garb, I must confess. I love that stuff. I can't wait for Leno. Since they are still touring, I wonder if they will release a new single. Seems like they should if they still want to keep promoting this same cd. I'd love Thrown Down or Everybody Finds Out...just because I'd love to hear those live. I can just picture her belting out the lyrics to Everyone Finds Out on stage ~ "...don't you know!...". That'd be so great. I can't wait for the documentary or whatever it's going to be. But she has stated she doesn't like doing the photo and video thing anymore, because of insults to her looks, and so I guess I just hate to think we get less and less of all that these days because she gets upset about this stuff. She has said it in interviews, that it bothers her, so she *must* be a little sensitive to it....and not as "thick skinned" as you seem to think. There was an interview after TISL where she talked about the photo shoots and how hard they are, emotionally. And how she was actually never going to tour again after Street Angel because of what people were saying about her looks. Ann Wilson also admitted to having anxiety attacks on stage because of the talk about her weight and her looks. So just because someone is in the public eye does not make them thick skinned. Especially these days when talent is not your ticket - your looks are. Which is sad.

I went on stage the other day....
Same old dress I wore yesterday...
I wonder of I'll ever where any colors...
You'll never catch me dead in blue denim....

The same black dress,
It does not change with the colors,
Change with the sun,
Or run with the sight,
I'll look great in the wind....just not in white...
Hell no....no Denim
Hell no....no Denim

Most of the criticism during Street Angel had to do w/ her weight, not her clothes. As for that album, even Stevie admits it sucks.

Seems to me that making fun of her appearance is making fun of her appearance. Period. Same difference, as they say.

I remember reading that she was so upset about the comments on her WEIGHT (aka - her appearance) that she seriously said she would never tour again unless she lost weight. I thought that was really sad. I want to go see her in concert no matter what she looks like (or is wearing).

Also, she seemed okay with the criticism on the cd because she herself was not happy with it. But it was the criticism on her LOOKS that really upset her. That seemed obvious in the stuff I read during that time.

And there are things here about her dress, but also about her losing weight and about her going on the Atkins diet. So this too is all about her appearance. I don't really care. I love talking about Stevie Nick's clothes. But still, you have to face facts - she is sensitive, she admits it and we hear FWM members say it also, and her friends too, AND - she would not find this amusing, if she were to read it. DUH!!!

I have noticed that ever since all the criticism about her constant wardrobe changes in between songs from critics, and after that tax thing, that she did start referring to her clothes as a "uniform" which drives me crazy, and started getting stingy on the outfit changes. But this would only further prove the point that she gets upset about picks on her appearance, and then tries to change ways to avoid having to get that criticism again. I'd get bored wearing the same thing all the time. I'd love to have money to have the coolest outfits, and the occasion to change into something new all the time. Ha! This just reminded me of something I heard Madonna say once when she was on Oprah a few years ago. She said something like how she gets worried that someone will photograph her in the same outfit, and then people will think she doesn't ever change her clothes, or can't afford a new outfit, so she literally wears things once and then gives them to her maid! lol! And here Stevie is seen and photgraphed for a full touring year in the same thing. Now it reminds me of how Stevie said once how Don Henley helped show her how to spend all her money and live like a star way back when. Maybe Madonna needs to give her a reminder about the clothing aspect. ;) I love seeing her in new outfits, because I can vicariosly live through her! ;)

She found the Letterman jabs about her being heavy and his showing clips of the treadmill scene in the Stand Back video to be amusing. Even she has said that she has a fantastic sense of humour and would love to be a comic. LAUNDREY (It was JUST A DRESS!):

So I'm back to my Phoenix laundrey room
Back to the Maytag...that I love
To a room...with lint traps...and fabric softener
Back to the laundrey that I love
To BlackLaundrey that I love
(doo doo doo doo....)

And it all spins gently, too
Well you know that it does
Well, timer strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it lights up BlackTights
And you see BlackCardigan
You see NewBlackDress

To full hamper for remains
Pre-treat pit stains with a little Cheer
I have no bleach, I wear only black
And if I had just one rinse
And the rinse was enough
Enough for me to wash
And then to wear

Darks are tumbling away from you now
It was just a wash
It was just a wash
You see your laundrey
You see your laundrey...
And another rinse is all that is left for you now
I still see your Reeblechs...

The deleted scenes from contained on the DVD make the movie make more sense. But, yes, as it stands, "The Ring" made no sense.

I don't recall hearing her say she enjoyed jabs about her weight. I remember her saying some of the jokes on Letterman she enjoyed, like the treadmill, etc. But not insults about her weight. So -whatever. We can have our own opinions. Don't get all upset. Why are you upset about what I say, but you think for a fact she would not be upset by this? I say it's a no-brainer that she would not laugh about this but would be a bit annoyed or upset (because it's supposedly her biggest fans making fun of her). Why don't you print it off and send it to her via Nicks Fix questions with your name and phone number? Maybe she will answer and let us all know....

Don't worry. I'll stop making my own suggestions and posting my opinions. Seems to be the mood around here....gotta love it....

Don't get your knickers in a twist, doll.

If you can't realize that the Letterman jabs were about her weight, then I have no desire to converse with someone who obviously has no grasp of the jokes.

From a US Magazine interview:

US: A couple of years ago, David Letterman mercilessly tormented you by showing clips from your "Stand Back' video, where you appear to be walking backward on a treadmill. Did this upset you?

Stevie: No, I loved it. People think I don't have a sense of humor about myself, but I'm here to tell you that I do. A friend of mine made a compilation tape of all the shows Dave spoofed me on, and I watched it in hysterics. You couldn't pay for that amount of publicity.

Why bring negativity into a thread that people enjoy reading and posting in? I started these parodies as something fun for folks to do and now we're being looked down upon for doing so. Amazing.

She loves to waltz
In a ripe nylon suit
All alone in Phoenix
With a newly permed 'do
From an era gone by
The pics are in Rolling Stone
She could dress blacker,
But the dress couldn't be riper
She could trash Blackdress
But she just put a cardigan over it

It's starting to shrivel
As most years-old garments do
And it don't age well
As she spins in it for you
In this board full of blasphemers
In this world full of fools
The sequins have stopped glittering
Since we parodied you
When your running for Arid
You forget the threads are about to undo...

FASHION VICTIM ("Inspiration"):

Well I was spinning here twirling with my shawl again
I pick up the iron to steam Blackdress again
Sometimes to air it briefly is all I need
To make me feel it can be worn again
I can wear it all the time like I did yesterday
You make me feel like I feel when IRS doesn't make me pay
And I understand Blackdress is pretty bland
But I'll wear it

Just call me FashionVictim
I remember Blackdresses since I picked 'em
They make me look really Wiccan
Just call me FashionVictim

And I put down Blackdress, I feel so alone
Sometimes I just can't hang it
But it's all worthwhile when I show tired style
Reeblechs still lift me a mile high
And I understand Blackdress has got no fan
But I'll wear it

Well these past few months I've had time to remember
Those shawls I threw together
And tambourines, they mean so much to me
And you have to know how much Blackdress means to me
And I really, really want it tattooed to me
'Cause I love it

And I understand that it dulls the band
But I'll wear it

Just call me FashionVictim
I remember my wardrobe stagnation
Escapee from a funeral procession
Just call me FashionVictim
Just call me FashionVictim
Just call me FashionVictim

BLACKDRESS AND THE CARDIGAN ("Goldfish and the Ladybug"):

The BlackDress and the Cardigan
Are always worn with each other
Stevie couldn't take them off
She couldn't try on no other
Cardigan said, "I can't spin!"
BlackDress twirls but bland
Cardigan buttoned down like a smock
On our matronly Queen of Rock

One tour and the promise was made
Cardigan's cheating with Duster
BlackDress tore seams of sadness
How were they to smell?
How were they to smell?

And the days turned into years
Stevie fans' boredom grew
Just take the sweater to the razor's edge
And put on something new
Something new

BlackDress stayed solo on the next leg of tour
So dowdy and so old
Stevie wore that dress all alone
But Cardigan lived in her mind
Cardigan lived in her mind

O, Cardy, Cardy, I love you
Can I match you with BlackDress
Can I wear something besides you two
Can I wear something besides you two
Can I wear something besides you two

And these two were always seen on tour together

Well, what has wearing black ever done for you? You two!
What has wearing black ever done for me? Oh, everything!

Every day fans say, "Answer the question!" (Answer the question!)
Could you be an even bigger bore
With this new lack of fashion?
Would you wear red again? (Would you wear red again?)
If only I would! (Yes, I would!)
I'd have a really good time!

I'll wear another dress
In something black...pit stain!
I had a really good time, Margi!
It was really black!

She says, "I'll meet you at the sale racks!"
She says, "I'll catch you at TJ Maxx!"

BLACK DRESS (a la Stand Back)

No one breathed
as black dress came by
A new dress in the wardrobe
would have been just fine

Said "please, Margi" again and again
first she took my money then she planned
You know no one knows how I feel
in this same rags
She said she needed some more time
One designer walked away from me
she doesn't understand
I said take this...

black dress, black dress
In the middle of my room
I hand this ugly frock to you, well
Not alright, not alright
to repeat the same design (repeat the same design)
to repeat the same design
I'm gonna.....

blah blah blahhhh
blah blah blah blah blah blahhhh
blah blah
blah blah blah blah blaaaah

Please let's burn
this dress my friend
well, when I wear this
i'm not a ten
No man will call my name
yea.

So I went on down the stage away from you
maybe your intentions
were to make me a two
One man said he was gonna fall
the black dress smelled too much
I said take this...

black dress, black dress
In the middle of my room
I hand this ugly frock to you, well
Not alright, not alright
to repeat the same design (repeat the same design)
to repeat the same design

So I went on down the stage away from you

LMAO, Marissa!!

Brilliant sequins fall in Margi's path
No hesitation
She sews them on fast
La Nicks has another waiting at home
But just one more will make her disgust you
Kind of Blackdress that'll haunt you
It will disgust you

I didn't mean to tailor another, Margi cried
Oh but the nylon was bought wholesale last night
The salesclerk came to me when she saw my knees weaken
And yes, she suckered me in
Kind of shrewd wholesaler that'll get you
So I bought it for you

BLACKDRESS IS NOT COOL ("Julia")

I will spin really slow
On my butt-ugly Reeblechs
Worn with my BlackCardigan
It comes from bargain bin, yeah

When I run on treadmill
I am free from any embroidery
And my blond hair will be hanging
Landslide's when I kiss Lindsey

For in BlackDress
No strain on sore hip
No false boobies
No one has to tell me to wear black
I'll wear all black
Except pink muffler on Today Show
I will cry out to Anne Heche Lafoon

I wear two things these days
And these nights old clothes are so cool
People ask me
They ask me
They say, "So, Stevie, just what ain't black that you wear now?"
She wears two things
Two things
Well, in the fight for the spotlight
She dons BlackSweater
And BlackDress, too

Who is the child
Who disregards all fashion rules?
I would wallow in this rut
And I won't change clothes from July to June...

"Blackdress, Blackdress" (sort of like "Mirror, Mirror")

As my shawls get frayed at their ends
so go the buttons of my sweater
from this outfit I have on
empty is my hamper!

Sometimes Margi's frightened
as she sews my flies
there's been a few colors
I know
I've really worn alot

But then one day
ooo I really fell in love
I saw them on the rack at Nordstrom's, baby
I said 'buy 'em!'

Blackdress, blackdress.
Blackdress, blackdress....

My skirts will fade
Like the cardigin
She says "No, I will never wear this again"
He says "Oh good, it was starting to smell..."
Margi I want to see your...latest design...latest design
This must make me look thin
She says no not really.

Blackdress, Blackdress,
Blackdress, Blackdress

IF I EVER WERE TO BREATHE:

I'm BlackDressed now from my neck to my soles
And with every spin I make
It's worn another damned show
I continue to wear a shawl
It was so long it fell down to my knees
And I don't think I can handle change at all...all...

Well, one more night I'll pile on same layers
Yes, and peel
To make me sweat I'll add a buttoned sweater
Have I not heard fans' plea?

And it pays to buy
In bulk, don't raise hem
How much time
Will Lindsey be my friend?

My dress squeezes breasts and I can't breathe
Not even singing Dreams
If I ever did dry-heave from tight corset
If I ever did dry-heave

And this look won't die
Doing nothing but black widow
How much time
Will I keep this trend?

Ooooh, Margi, don't leave me
I'm covering my knees
Margi don't leave me
I really can't breathe...

Stop Draggin That Dress Around

Baby it just follows me on every tour...
That same black dress I used to wear before....
I said Yeah well what am I supposed to do...
New fashions from Margi are way over due....

So I'll wear a few colored shawls.....
That'll keep a few critics down...
Stop dragging that...
Stop dragging that...
Stop dragging that dress around!

Its hard to think about golds and blues....
Its hard to walk in those platform shoes...
Menopause is not all that easy....
I have no time to go shopping at all...

I know you really wanna throw it away....
I can't say that I blame you at all....

So I'll wear a few colored shawls.....
That'll keep a few critics down...
Stop dragging that...
Stop dragging that...
Stop dragging that dress around!

I'll put a heel on these reebok shoes...
Wear a black dress and stay away from blues...
Wear the same dress again and again...
I'll never change it, not even if you beg.....

I know you really wanna throw it away...
Put all of your fashion worries at bay...

So I'll wear a few colored shawls.....
That'll keep a few critics down...
Stop dragging that...
Stop dragging that...
Stop dragging that dress around!

MAKE ME A DRESS ("Make Me A Mask")

Make me a dress
That I can wear
'Til tour is done

Lindsey's in white tees
My batwing sleeves
The shawl is spinning

Make me BlackDress
So I can have fun
When Tusk dance comes

Christine did not stay
Her vocal I play
New era beginning

Make me TightDress
So I can't pass gas
'Til the right time comes

Blond hair in my eye
In charter jet I fly
My hip is still tingling

Now, when the day goes to sleep Sister of Moon looks
For dress that's so black while Christine McVie cooks
Don't you come spinnin' around
Makin' her wear things she don't want to

Can't believe that you need that old dress so bad
Platform sneakin' around, always all-black-clad
Sweater's on during Dreams
Making us see clothes we don't wanna see

'Cause you're da BlackDressing Stevie with the two-piece gown
All your corsets tied up, all your shawls hangin' down
Just taking same dress then spinnin' away
Leavin' smell here just tryin' to keep from following you

Countin' days on fingers
Countin' days on toes
Sleeves down to your fingers
Watchin' as hair grows
We can love you, Stevie, but you can't throw out
Someone oughta tell you that that look is really out

Do you ever wear red
Do you sing "It's Late"
BlackDress Widow
Won't sing "I Can't Wait"
We can love you, Stevie, but that dress is worn out
Margi oughta tell you
Oughta tell you what changing's really all about
You're never gonna air out, Stevie
Oh, you're never gonna
Burn it, Stevie, burn it, Stevie, burn it, Stevie

Buy another sweater
Give pants another try
Wear another color
See who's surprised
We can love you, Stevie, but you must walk out
Somewhere in a brand new dress, and let us lose our doubt...

Same Black (dress) aka Straight Back

What shawl shall I wear this time
when I play on stage?
Black dress is much older
but it'll never be put away
And you will cry, "it makes you not look thin!"
but i'll never change
Black dress will be made over, no
but will look...the same

black dress will look the same (same!)

Fingers find the black
stitching and a song
parody appears
from my fans who'd do no wrong

And they tell me why Stevie
do you wear black dress?
If you'd get another designer
you would look....
the best

you would look the best (best!)

hours and hours of design school for you
but you need a beating
hours and hours of dressing this way
it's eating at me

(hours and hours of design school for you
but you need a beating)

She remembers how good she can be
oh, she needs to fire Margie
Shadow, my black shadow
In my dreams...

hours and hours of design school for you
now you need a beating
hours and hours of dressing this way
it's eating at me

Wearing you, isn't the right thing to do...
How can I, ever dress the way I feel...
If I could, I would use more reds and golds...
How can I, Margi wont make them for me...

You can burn that dress now
Burn that dress now
You can buy one right before the tour in May
You can burn that dress now
Burn that dress now

Menopause, doesn't help at all....

Hell I can't, even work a remote control....

Thanks.
And for the record, I DON'T think Stevie should fire Margi. The problem is not the designs, but that Stevie picks one to wear all year long and then some. When Stevie started wearing this dress I liked it. It was better than the last one. Then it stuck around. And around. And around. Not Margi's fault. The customer is always right, I guess.

CAPE AND CARDIGAN ("Gate and Garden")

There is an outfit
It can be buttoned
Well, it is not pleasant
And it has a cardigan
So to the funeral
Goes the fashion
And my party gown
Well, it's black, you know
It's made for widows who are grey
It's dowdy, you know
And I'm thin
It's just too tame for me today
Some fan steals it
Some fan steals it away
It scares me to death
I won't hide it on a shelf
I won't give it to my friends
Won't change an outfit
How many times have you said
Do I wear new
Well, I never did any night
Nobody sees nothing I fit
Well, it's worn, you know

It's everywhere
You say you seek a change
I say extend my hair
But don't change my outfit
How many times have fans said
Do I change you
Nooooooooooo
Do I change you
Nooooooooooo

STEVIE AND THE CREASED ("Beauty and The Beast")

You're not a strange dress to me
And you are boring to see
You don't even allow a flash of knee
You're worn a lot, but you're unaware how to seduce Lindsey

My Stevie lives in creased dress in the color of a mime
An old child mis-outfitted one more time
Seamless is a feature of the guise
And Margi the seamstress designs to cover Stevie's thighs

Oh, who is wearing new lace, who the one who's creased
Would you die of grieving if this look would leave
Two black rags that will never be sexy
Is that sweat or just a shadow under your sleeve

My love is a blond who's not been tamed
Oh, my love lives in new dress with no false boobies or hip pain
She sings "All the Beautiful Worlds", but never dresses the same
I never doubted eventually you'd change
I never doubted eventually you'd change

Changed what you are wearing
Where is the dress
There is no clothing
Without the dress

Your widowful widowful widowful widowful dress

SISTERS OF THE BLACK DRESS (sung by Stevie)

Intense silence
As I walk on the stage
My black dress..... trailing
Moons ago this was made

And a black widow spider crawled
From the shadows of my dress
And the fans singing "STEVIE
You look such a MESS!"

All that confusion
It was hard to breathe
Cos the mothballs they were choking
Choking, choking..... mmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

So I checked into wardrobe
See if there was something new
Margi said "Oh Stevie, you don't have a clue"
That the people they love you
But still they are so cruel
They love you in your black dresses
But wear........ something newwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

(talking mode)
She said "Stevie ditch that dress
Illusions are your game
Your fans want to see you in velvet
Not that BLACK DRESS AGAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

oooohhhhhhhhhh ooohhhhhhhhhh oohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It's Ripe (Free Fallin')

She's a good girl
Loves her Blackdress
Loves incense and Liddy Buck, too

She's a fashion victim
Loves her mu-mu
Loves Chanel and lanky Mick, too

It's a hard life living without colors
There are stark blacks and sparse shades of bright
She's hurts our eyes 'cause she can't accesorize
She's a victim of faux pa's for wearing it more than twice

It's ripe
It's ripened with wear

All the stylists never got a phone call
She stuck with Margi and accepted no business cards
All the stylists salivate to meet her
And the stylists are appalled at her sight

"I want to dress you in red and some creamies
I want to ditch the sequins and tights
I want to fix your haircolor and fishnets
Then you can twirl for dramatic effect"

Talk on the ledge says that dress is filled with dank mold
Those good friends of mine say it's so stiff that it won't fold
It's got to go
(got to go)
It's got to go
(got to go)
It is tattered at the seams
And so smelly that it steams
It's got to go

It's got to go

Cause we don't know long
We can go on
With you in the same dress
Signing all the same songs
Well well it's got to go

Who woulda thought that you'd fall for that rag
A rockin fashion queen is held hostage in a black bag
It's got to go
(got to go)
It's got to go
(got to go)
Cause you know it's so wrong
You've worn that thing for too long
That old corseted thing
Reeks like your brother's beer bong

I was born wearing black
So I know what is slimming...
Well try it on...it's a new design
But it's as black as this one...no colors

Well this is the first thing,
That I've worn
Since I wore my Mirror bustier...
And then I gained much weight
Well Atkins made me downsize my plate...no starch
People were free to eat sugar and McD's, not me
But then something happened...with my implants
Something broke those implants...into pieces

Someone continue it...

To the tune of Joan of Arc

They wanted variety when black was all you'd give them
They depended upon old pictures
Calling the pictures your prime of life
And they came in tired
And they said "this is the last time I pay $150.00"
Well I can't see black again
Stevie Nicks...this time

Return it to the Wal-Mart
Return it at the Wal-Mart now
Return it to the Wal-Mart
Queen of Rock

Return it to the Wal-Mart
Return it at the Wal-Mart now
Whoa, no, there's really nothing
That you can't wear anyhow; red or
cream will make you look better

Well there's a few other colors in the manegerie
Try pink, white or cream
Because that black is what we're sick of
And they don't even know what your legs look like

Turn to the wall
Turn it to the wall
Joan of Arc

Ooh, turn to the wall
Turn to the wall baby
Turn it to the wall child

Gone like the wind
Like the sun in the dusk
Well her little little black dress
Is covered with dust
And your beautiful eyes
Whoa, well, they look good with red now
Why don't you wear something else?
We've seen it all before, it is a tiresome wardrobe
The wardrobe mistress storms out, hearing the door slamming
Behind her
Ooh, she asked "why the hell the cardigan?"

He said "Return it to the Wal-Mart"
Return it to the Wal-Mart
Return it to the Wal-Mart, baby
You go up and get to Wal-Mart now
Return it to the Wal-Mart Nicks.

Ooh...return it to the Wal-Mart baby
Return it to the Wal-Mart now
Ooh...get over to the Wal-Mart
Well you can change it once, this time

Return it to the Wal-Mart baby
Return it to the Wal-Mart
Oh,no,oh,no,oh,no...
So turn it to the Wal-Mart baby
She says "Is there anything else you can wear
To make you look better?"
So just return it to the Wal-Mart, baby
Return it the Wal-Mart
Oh, no, there's really nothing that you can't wear
Return it to the Wal-Mart, Nicks

Ooh, return it to the Wal-Mart
Return it to the Wal-Mart now
Get over to the Wal-Mart

DRESSED IN MOURNING ("Monday Morning")

Dressed in mourning I don't look fine
New day stick same clothes on my behind
Fabric's real black, then it fades away
My dream's to keep on dressing this same way
I got nothing but fear of the new
Love old sketches that my friend Margi drew
First time I wore this, I felt my dreams unwind
But it's a frumpy kind
It's a frumpy kind
I'll stay in black if my look stays true
No other trend that could ever do
Got to get lace wedgie out of behind

Dressed in mourning my look ain't fine
New day skirt's dragging on my tired behind
First you see me, then you say it's wrong
I don't think any skirt can be too long
But my solo tour hat is plumed
Shed fur sticks to dress, as my Yorkies are groomd
I meet Tom Petty, at Four Seasons we dine
He says I'm fine
Says I'm fine
My stronger self dances at the news
While Lindsey tries with Gift of Screws
Got to leave mob widow look behind

DON'T LET ME DRESS ME
(Cover of Pink's "Don't Let Me Get Me")

I never wear new lace
I don't support the dream
I don't drink libations
And my 'Boks are never clean

Eagles dated me
Lindsey hated me
I was aging bird in flight
'Cause I don't change any night

Everyday I wear BlackDress before the mirror
Can't take BlackWidow staring back at me

I'm a hazard to myself
Don't let me dress me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you won't change yourself
So irritating
Don't want to be same old no more
I gotta ditch this old BlackDress

Ledgies told me
Your look's black as tar
All you have to change
Is out of tired dress you are
Tired of obnoxious kiss
Between Madge and Brittney Spears
They're so slutty
That just ain't me
So Margi Margi, won't you please design me something?
A day in the dress of someone else

I'm a hazard in this dress
Don't let me dress me
I'm an unchanged oddity
It's bad when you won't change your dress
So eerie stinking
Don't want Darth Vader look no more
I wanna wear some brand new dress
