I know someone said that SYW will debut at number 3 on Billboard's album charts. The charts don't update online until early Thursday morning .Can anyone confirm this position?
The actual chart position will be announced on Wednesday afternoon, the full chart released the next day. I think 3 or 4 with about 200K sold is a good guess. And in this market - that's NOTHING to be sad about!

Any speculation as to who beat them out?

I've heard 50 Cent will be #1, then Kelly, so I don't have a clue, but I think it's gonna go KC, 50, then FM...just a hypothesis.
What I wanna know is if the LE counts as an album sold, since the album IS included in it?

Someone posted over on Mick's board that "Say You Will" is debuting at #2...w/ 50 cent at #1 and Kelly Clarkson at #3.
I don't know if that's true though. I guess we'll see on Wed.

you can go to hitsdailydouble.com and watch the numbers as they come in....Right now with 51.74% in, Fleetwood Mac is at #3 with 127k.......behind Kelly Clarkston #2 and 50 Cent #1...those numbers will go up, but most likely the leads will stay the same....

Sorry if I'm a moron- but what is 50 cent? And what do they/he/she/it sing? And why is it not properly pluralized, ie 50 cents?

LOL.
50 Cent is a rapper who used to be a crack dealer (for real) but has now made it big. I think his most recent hit was "In the Club," which was pure trash by the way. As to why it's not plural, you'd have to ask him.

That person was me. I went to a record store called Specs and I saw The Top 20 they have. FM was #2, I asked the manager why he put this. He told me that the US office of the record store told him that this would be the top 20 for this week. I dont know if its for just this store or if its the billboard.
But I'm thinking is the record store, because went to Best Buy and found this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/mandm/mm_bestsellers.asp?b=0&st=3&ProdType=music&m=254
Look at the list that saids Breakouts. I think if there was one version of Say You Will they would be number one for sure.

And actually, I'll be totally content if FM falls anywhere in the top ten...(which they will :) )

Quote by John Run 'Latest numbers I have seen which are near 80% project to around #5 and 200,000 sold" This is exactly the position and numbers garnered by TISL in it's first week just under two years ago .I guess it would not be difficult to conjecture whose following is dictating SYW's sales.

According to HitsDailyDouble - the finals are in:
Say You Will - #3 (barely over Darryl Worley) at 211,000.
This is usually where Billboard would have it - though the numbers used for both are not 100% the same - Mac might fall to #4 on the official chart.
Still a great debut - the Tonight Shows should keep it going for another week!
....Kelly Clarkson was at #1 - over 300,000 sold.

If Kelly Clarkson makes #1, it'll be confirmed that the record-buying public has no taste (no offense to those who like her, LOL!)! She has an OKAY voice, but not much else She's just manufactured mainstream garbage. Does she even write songs or play instruments? However, even if she's number one, I doubt she'll have any staying power. Cross your fingers for the Mac!

statement I have seen posted yet...I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels that way about the public's current taste in music.

WHAT taste, Brian?! I find it incredibly sad. The state of music these days is disgraceful. Whatever happened to quality music like we had in the sixties and seventies? Music that had messages and poetry and themes to it? It all went away. Where is the music that people relate to? I certainly can't relate to these wanksters singing about their diamond rings, jewels, expensive cars, and their self-proclaimed "ho's." It's self indulgent and PATHETIC. And I highly doubt that even the kids who listen to this rap relate to any of it!! If they say they do, they're blowing sunshine up our skirts.

Very true...The whole "wanksters" killed metal to me. I cannot relate to the whole rings, cars,"ho's" thing...Gee, I guess unless a person is wanting to stay hip at 32 they can try, And YES they do look foolish to me when they try!!!
Ya asked "Whatever happened to quality music like we had in the sixties and seventies? Music that had messages and poetry and themes to it? It all went away." I say it went from the pop/rock music to the "new contemporary country" artist like Gary Allan, Chris Cagle & of course Keith Urban (A noted Lindsey freak) & groups like Brooks & Dunn & Emerson Drive. The "new contemporary country" has the messages & poetry without any of the Garth Brooks boredom type of country...Hell, It's almost borderline rock tome, And I can relate to the subject matter & hum the damn melody hours later!!! This is a very good debut. Over 60,000 more album than the record industry expected. Even the most optimistic projections were under this. Be happy with it. You can't control what the people buy. I will tell you this much, a debut like this means Fleetwood Mac will have no problem getting another record put out.
Bombay Saphire 3-I was wrong instead of 5th a strong weekend brought them in at 3. However you misquoted me. THe debut with TISL was not identical. Say You Will sold over 100,000 more copies in its first week then TISL. That is what my quote referenced. Say You Will also sold 12,000 more copies than the Dance in the first week. Dance was # 1.

Thanks LINDSEY, apparently, "everyone's gone to the moon" because this is a bunch of BS.
50 Cent? Yeah, it probably cost 50 cent to make his CD...I mean DVD/CD.
Kelly Clarkson...can't say anything bad about my homegirl, she's from Burlytown..I live 15 minutes from her. She's cool with me, but I think most of her fans bought MULTIPLE and I mean MULTIPLE copies of the CD to help her out.
My main question is WHO THE FRICK IS DARRYL WORLEY?!?!?!
1 KELLY CLARKSON RCA 268,394 - THANKFUL
2 DARRYL WORLEY DREAMWORKS NASHVILLE 193,951 -
HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN?
3 50 CENT SHADY/AM/INTERSCOPE 191,630 -
50 CENT THE NEW BREED
4 FLEETWOOD MAC REPRISE 184,979 - SAY YOU WILL (THIS IS MY # 1 ALBUM, SO...WHO GIVES A FRICK!?!)
BTW, I got these numbers from a Justin board, they are NOT final, I'm sure...

Isn't Darryl Worley the country music guy who is riding to stardom on a song about 9/11? I recall the title "Have You Forgotten" from all those war/peace song articles talking about Peacekeeper. Yeah, I bet this Nashville spark's really gonna stay around much once his pro-war anti-terrorism ditty falls out of context. :distress:
Am I the only one who thinks Lindsey kinda likes the whole 'uphill battle' thing? The prospect of having to follow RUmours irked him to no end ... now they have to prove themselves, especially without Christine, not unlike the early BN days. I get the feeling it gives him a kick! Of course, #4 on the Billboard 100 can't really be described as an uphill battle. ;)

Darryl Worley is a country musician with a hit song called "Have You Forgotten" which reminds people of 9/11...A good song IMO...Brian J.

Thanks I stand corrected about the first week sales of TISL.The more they can sell and the higher in the charts they are the happier I am .the 3 that are above them are pretty awful a Rap ep a manufactured pop tart and a modestly talented country crooner milking more pro war fervor bleech!

I think #3 is pretty great! If I recall correctly the follow-up album to Rumours, Tusk (one of my favorite albums of all time) got only as high as #4 on the Billboard charts. Now if they release EFO as a single, trust me, they will keep those numbers coming. I have always been able to pick hit singles since I was 15 (one of my only talents besides playing guitar lol) before they were released.
EFO is a winner. It has the potential to play on many formats and it is a great song! It is not even my favorite on the album, I am just talking hit single potential in todays market.

It's an excellent debut. I have to think that Stevie, Lindsey, John and Mick wouldn't really be tremendously concerned with their placement on the billboard charts. This whole tour and album was based on the fact that they know there is still demand for their work and in Lindsey's case, he just wanted to get his music heard. These people aren't poor...they don't need to be doing this anymore but they do it because they love it. They've had their #1...now I think it's about the music and the fans:nod: I don't think you'll see any dissapointment from them about not being number one. We probably shouldn't be either. However, 50 Cent...wtf? You wrote (you probably didn't even write it) a song called IN DA CLUB and like, Fleetwood Mac rights about real things. Whatever. I did, however, buy Kelly Clarkson and the reason why people are buying her album is because they feel responsible for her newfound success because we truly did make her into what she's become and we like her. I mean, afterall, she's who we picked!

the Drudge Report has a picture of Stevie (in her gold dust shawl) with the heading..
Fleetwood Mac at #3 with 211,000 sold.
I clicked on the related story but it was all about Kelly Clarkson debuting at #1.
btw, the Drudge Report changes constantly, so the story might not be on the page for long..

the band now needs a hit single to continue its stay in the top ten.. definitely a great beginning.

First week totals
(debut position)
SAY YOU WILL (3) 218,000+
VERY BEST OF FM (12) 65,000+
TISL (5) 109,000+
THE DANCE (1) 200,000+
source: SoundScan
Even though the entire album is on the web, it still scanned more copies than The Dance in the first week. Impressive. #1 in my book.

We have a similar show to your American Idol in Germany and the same hype is going on. To me it is not important if they have good voices. Of course they have and that's O.K. But it's nevertheless not more than puppet theatre. They can sing a song but they can`t write a song, nor produce it nor play an instrument. Once their producer lets them fall their sound will change completely as then another producer comes along. There is no direction and there's no creativity and artistry about it. They will be gone in 1 or 2 years as they can not rely on their own productivity and fantasy. What people buy is not a Kelly Clarkson (or Daniel Küblböck (sic!) or Alexander Knavs in Germany or Gareth Gates in the UK) CD. What they buy is a CD from their producers with the voices of those contest winners. But they won't have a career on their own and so it's a pity that something like this gets a No 1 whereas wonderful artists with great songwriting remain unknown. It's all about media hype and that's the shame!
I think the Nr 3 debut for FM is fine, I don`t believe they can stay there too long or even get to Nr. 1 from now on, but all in all it seems the album will do well.

Well, Billboard has it posted that SYW sold 218,000 copies, so that's another 7,000. What sucks is this would have been a definite #1, but it was just released at a bad time. I mean, there was HEAVY competition for the Top 10. If TISL had been released this week with 105,000 units sold, I don't think it would have hit the top 10. I expected about 150,000 copies, so im very glad to hear they sold more. Let's just hope they can stay up there for a while.

and - the big gun (Madonna) will certainly come in at no. 1 next week with, I predict, over 300,000 sold. But, hopefully, FM can maintain over 100,000 sales for awhile, which will keep it in the top ten.
In any event, kudos to them for the #3 debut, a great album, and what looks like is going to be a great tour.

It is an impressive, smashing success. Really. I see it just like that. Selling those numbers in one week, for a REAL band who's not filled with crazy teens these days, is just amazing. Much more than what I expected, anyway. Good for these guys. :)
