No doubt SYW will prove to be more of a stayer, but a #1 debut would have been a real coup.

Those results would not surpirse me - but how would anyone know when the Bilboard charts are not released until Tuesday (or so I thought...)

I thought Kelly's album didn't come out until this weekend?? I think that her single Miss Independent that was just released is what is # 2 and not her album...i dunno...i could be wrong.

I doubt FM will sell well after the first week, well, maybe, I suppose more of a fast sell for it though.

Kelly's came out on the 15th too.

Mark my words, if 50 Cent debuts at #1 next week, I am writing a letter to Billboard.

He released a DVD, with a bonus CD which contains only THREE tracks.
In my book, that does NOT qualify as an "album," and should most definitely not be allowed to place on the Top 200 Albums chart.

No, I'll TELL you what sucks, I am officially an old fart. I had to look 50 Cent up on Amazon 'cause I didn't know who the hell it/they/he was.
(And if he does better than FM, I'll be a bitter old fart, to boot.)

ok well wherever this info came from... it can't be final right? it's based on weekly sales.. and from what i remember of a regular week from kindergarden... there are 7 days.... so we still have a few more days... dude.... kelly clarkson? a made entertainer?(ok yes she's talented i SEE or rather HEAR that.... but she's the winner of a REALITY SERIES!!! damn survivor if you hadn't started it we wouldn't be where we are today) 50 cent? half a dollar? the ghetto girls i work with went a saw him perform at some club recently... they have no brains... and they are his fanbase... good god almighty.... what the hell is this shlt? my god... i agree with lindsey... "what's the world coming to?"

lets just hold on a few more days... and if anyone can afford it... go buy some early bday presents or xmas presents for your fam... i think they all need a new cd~ what do you think?

This is from Billboard.com's Chart Beat Chat page, edited by Fred Bronson....Fred,

Quick question: Will 50 Cent's new DVD/CD combo get to chart on The Billboard 200? Just wondering if it would be treated as a music or DVD release, or both?

Peace,

Jim

Dear Jim,

50 Cent's "The New Breed" is a hybrid, part CD, part DVD, similar to Josh Groban's "In Concert." Like that Groban album, "The New Breed" will be eligible to chart on The Billboard 200.

Based on first-day sales, it will be a battle for No. 1 between 50 Cent's "The New Breed" and Kelly Clarkson's debut set, "Thankful." At deadline, it's very close between the two, so a lot will depend on who sells the most copies over the Easter weekend.

"The new Breed" will also be eligible to appear on our music video chart, as was Groban's album.

Once again, in my opinion this is absolute b.s.
This is not a DVD/CD "hybrid"... this is a DVD that happens to include a 3-track bonus CD. End of story.
I cannot, for the life of me, see how that could be considered for inclusion on an ALBUMS chart.

And I realize that, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter where 'Say You Will' charts... if we enjoy the album, who cares how high (or low) it places... but I just think it's a damn shame that such an idiotic technicality will keep FM from charting as high as they could with this album.

That's it, folks... we all HAVE to go out this weekend and buy another three copies apiece!

Christy,
Breathe honey!:blob2: Say You Will won't even chart until next week. It hasn't been out long enough. Now as for 50 cent, I'm not a fan but he's popular and his shows have been selling out. And guess what? The tickets aren't $125. They're more like $25. Plus he's getting airplay, so his cd is selling. Has any FM release ever debuted at #1?

Only the "The Dance' debuted at number one of all the FM albums. It has been the groups only number one album released during the soundscan era.

That's what I thought but I knew someone on this board knew that for certain.

FLEETWOOD MAC
RUMOURS
MIRAGE
THE DANCE

All of these albums went to number 1 in the U.S. on the Billboard charts. The Dance was the only one to debut at number 1. "

Say you will" will debut at #3, not that bad. Tusk only went to number 4 , I think.

is that I AM NOT SURPRISED!!! I could care less about "Bill-BORED"'s ignorant ratings system...The MAC album smokes both the #1 & #2 back to the Stone age (Yes, Before Mick & Keith)...Brian J.

ps-What really sucks is that it has been 8 years today since the attack on the Alfred Murrah building in downtown OKC claimed 168 innocent folks...='(
