I'm sorry but I tend to listen to this album and smell lindsey all over it, I'd have loved Stevie to have gotten her hands on some production tasks. I know she was on tour and all but still, I'd have liked the diversity.

Having said that I like the album and I've had it on for 2 days straight but I do think it sounds very much like this was a Lindsey album, you can barely even tell John and Micks presense, might as well be paid musicians doing takes.

I say that not to be harsh but it's very accoustic sounding.

Ugh please - don't make wishes, they could come true.

But seriously, who didn't relaise they were getting an album produced by Lindsey?

And I don't gfet it - are you saying you don''t like it? If you do then I don't see what the problem is, but maybe I'm missing your point.

Hey! Bombay Sapphires is a great song!!

And to be fair, Stevie did co-produce most of TISL. It would have been nice if she would have co-produced the album with Lindsey.... but oh well. It's still a great album.

Really? Down on Rodeo, while a little slow, is pretty good IMO. But, I'll have to say that Bombay Sapphires is a song that I skip EVERY time I listen to TISL. I tried it about 5 times and just CAN'T STAND the song. I don't really know what it is that I don't like, but I really hate it. Every other song (well, maybe all but about 2 or so others that I don't like, but don't feel like listening to now to tell you why) on TISL is great. And I was really surprised that she did it (Bombay) live. I always thought it was weak. But, apparently it appeals to a lot of people, since from what I've read, a lot of people like it. Oh well, that's okay. I'm glad others like it.

I don't see why you are complaining about the Lindsey factor. What did you think you were going to get? It's a FLEETWOOD MAC album - and I hate to break it to ya folks. But that classic sound that you hear - you know, that MAC sound that we all know and love? Well LINDSEY CREATED THAT SOUND! His production, his experimentation. He was able to take Stevie's raw talent and turn it into a unique sound.

Here's a little exercise some of you might want to try: Go play any Stevie Nicks album...it sounds like Stevie Nicks right? Now, go play Out of The Cradle. Here's something interesting: IT SOUNDS LIKE FLEETWOOD MAC!

When I saw Lindsey on his solo tour, the Fleetwood Mac songs he did sounded more like Fleetwood Mac than when Fleetwood Mac did them without him.

Oh and one last thing - Mick and John are totally all over this album. It's pretty obvious. And if you can't recognize that, I'd really have to wonder what your ears have been hearing all these years.

I'm sorry to be so intense on this. But this just ticks me off when people make idiotic comments like this without having any understanding of music production or the origins of a particular sound. I've said it before and I'll say it again - some people have "ears", some people don't.

Well Lindsey Rocks........
Don't forget everyone has their own opinon. Every one has the freedom to say it.
I have to agree with Criag on this one.
Yes I love the album.
But Lindsey seems to over do things on his songs, and the Lindsey songs sound like his solo stuff too much.
Maybe on the next album they will start at the bottom up and the rest of the band will be more involved with his songs. Don't forget Lindseys songs where mostly all done before they got into the studio.
And yes I have good musical ears, so don't pull that one on me.
I play an instrument, sing and write some very good songs also.
So you don't need to get on your high horse if someone says anything that might be negative against your Fleetwood Mac.

I like the album.. I'm learning to like it more and more as I listen to it.. but I have to say, it does seem a little over-produced.

I described it to a friend as: "If Lindsey had today's technology when they did Tusk." He said.. "Oh, so it's kinda out there?" "Wayyy out there." "Tuskbytes." Since then, I have changed my personal SYW title from Neo-Tusk to Tuskbytes.

Stevie's songs on this one are great.. it's obvious LB didn't throw as much production work into hers as his. I'm glad. The variety makes this one interesting. I could NOT listen to this cd if every song was as "done up" as Red Rover.

I'm happy. ;):D LMAO!!

Seriously...the album is HALF AND HALF...you get 9 from LB, 9 from SN...why are you saying you smell LB all over it? I'm not understanding. He is the producer, so of course, he is the MASTER coordinator on the album, but Stevie sings harmony on most of his songs and vice versa for her songs.

I'm listening to Smile right now and I hear John's MONSTER bass coming at me HARD...he's there, FO SHO!

This album is ECLECTIC, that's what I love about it. You get pop, rock, country, even Chinese musical influences!! MY GOSH!!

What were ya'll expecting, anyways? No, really, I'm asking, what kind of sounds were you wanting to hear from them?

calm your jets people, an opinion is an opinion, get over it.

I listen to the album and I hear somethign that would be a lindsey solo album with Stevies vocals put over top.

Destiny RUles is a great song but it sounds very "chain" like in places.

I do love the album but I am VERY much allowed to want for more of a diverse sound.

Obviously I realize that Lindsey had a LOT to do with the Fleetwood Mac sound:rolleyes: Fact is this is 2003, not 1987, the fleetwood Mac sound can very much move into what stevie would like it to be as well.

Smile at you is muddled, Silver girl as well, they wouldn't have been on a solo album.

For the last time I DO like the album..a lot but I don't need to be blind to it and what I think could happen with it.

I'm wondering what makes you think that this isn't something Stevie would like it to be? The other day she said in an interview that her songs do not get released if she does not like them, nor does Lindsey force her songs in a direction she's not willing to take them.

Just curious. I personally do find the album pretty eclectic and diverse.

it is a good album, it is diverse in parts but I find it to be way too accoustic, way too "out of the cradle" it sounds like that album done over with Stevie lyrics.

I'd have liked the guy who helped with Planets of the universe to have more imput here. Just to give some great beats to the music.

I love everybody finds out though! LOVE

I feel Mick and John like I have on no other Fm album. Listen to Mike on WTWCT and Murrow, and John on Smile @ You and Say You Will.

I agree with Craig that Lindsey's influence is pretty heavy on Stevie songs like Smile At You, The Tower, and Illume. But that's only right in that this is a FM album, not a Lindsey solo meets Stevie solo. That's part of his job.

And he did a STUPENDOUS job producing "Everybody Finds Out." The synth strings, the drums, the echo verses.... WOW.

I am also one of the people who prefers his version of Thrown Down infinitely to the demo.

I do have to admit that the first three I mentioned are not to my taste, but overall Lindsey did a great job with Stevie's stuff and I'd rather have him producing over John Shanks anyday.

P.S. I don't really see a heavy Lindsey influence in "Silver Girl" at all. The song drags along all by itself (Sorry, my least favorite on the album, tied with Illume)

I think what SYW suffers most from is probably the most obvious... no Christine McVie.

I was a big cheerleader about "Buckingham Nicks II", but I have to say the SYW really needs some piano on it. There's just too much synthesized keyboard sounds and odd vocal effects. I dunno.... The overall album sound feels very chilly, with the only exception (off the top of my head) being "Say You Will", which is very warm.

Even my favorite song ("Goodbye Baby") would have been so much better supported by grand piano than the synth sound.

Don't get me wrong, I like the album very much- but with 18 songs you think there could have been a little less "weirdness" and one or two songs with some slow, beautiful piano.

Eh, I'm stilll listening to it anyways and trying to get into its "groove". Maybe I just need more time.

Lindseyrocks, I'm planning on getting into music myself, I plan on being a producer, I am a songwriter now, please don't tell me I don't have "ears" or anyone else doesn't just because they don't like what you like.

Like someone else said, get over yourself.

You've also got to realize that this is 2003... they're not going to try and sound like 1977. Being that Christine is out of the mix, the group as a whole have evolved into something different. My hubby told me that musically, it dosen't even sound like FM. I don't agree with him completely, but to an extent I do. And they even said themselves that their sound will be different. And think about it... I know that my own musical interests have changed in 12-15 years. I'm sure everyone in FM's to an extent has changed also. I personally enjoy the change. I think the whole album rocks.

I can find no fault whatsoever with Lindsey's production work on 'Say You Will.'
It's poppy and accessible when it needs to be, and it's edgy and offbeat when it needs to be.

Neither Lindsey nor Stevie dominates this album... both are a very solid presence.

Excellent work all around. :)
