View Full Version : I'm Sitting In On A Phone Interview W/ LB Tomorrow, What ?'s Do You Want Answered??

Livia

Yes, I'm seriously freaking out! My DJ friend, Bryan, called me last nite and said he was doing a phone interview, live on the air w/ LB tomorrow morning at 11 AM central time, and the program director, Jody, another friend, told him to invite me to sit in! You can listen online, kgsr.com. I told Bryan to listen to the album at least twice before tomorrow morning. And, that I would be posting here immediately to field questions from you guys. So, fire away!:D

That is so cool!!!!!!

Here is what I might ask if given this incredible chance:

What five songs were left off of the CD?

Was Stevie's terrific soft voice in Goodbye Baby his idea or her idea?

How did he like producing with Rob and John? Did they work together at the same time, or was it a LB "improved" on Rob and John's prior efforts on some songs?

If Warner Bros./Reprise did not like his solo record before, why do they like it now? Was it the addition of SN and the FM name to boost sales or was it just the change in mgmt.?

On a lighter note: Will he go on a date with and/or marry several of you pining females here on The Ledge who also want to know: (1) the status of his chest hair; (2) why didn't he marry SN years ago when he is obviously having a current and perhaps ongoing affair with her, and; (3) is that bulge in his jeans for real and is he willing to prove it :] :] :] :]

I have one question that I've been trying to figure out.

What does "M S C A E" mean in the lyrics to 'Murrow'. It's been racking my brain, especially since I love the words to the song.

Enjoy sitting in.. Maybe I'll see you when you come to the D.C. show..

Good one, Keith! I wondered that myself, I think it may be some kind of journalism organization? I dunno...

Yes, we will definitely have to hook up in DC. I'll be in town all weekend!

Bump - Come on, you guys! Don't be shy!! Should I ask him about the Miranda/porn star reference? 2nd leg of the tour? The supposed world tour? We'd really like this to NOT be just another, run of the mill interview.

Even if you just use strandinthewind's questions we'd know more than we do now. Those are very good questions that we haven't heard the answers to.

We also want to know what makes his songs better now than before when they were meant to be on a solo record.

One other thing: We really, really, really want to know if we'll get the rest of the Gift of Screws songs (GOS, Twist of Fate, etc.) on another FM album AFTER the tour! :-)

Love,
Jo and Jensen

Livia~

This is very awesome. Oh wow, you are going to be able to speak to our main man, very cool!!!! Anyway, I cant remember the possible interview questions that I sent a DJ here in Chicago but I am trying to remember.

Ask him what "dark horse" FM songs they are going to bring out on tour.

Tell him that the ladies on the Ledge love his smile :D

Ask him who someone could contact to find out about meeting him briefly during the tour.

Gosh, my mind is going blank. If I think of anymore I'll post them before tomorrow.

I'd like to know:

1. Specifically, which song(s) Christine is on from SYW? (since the notes don't say (other than she's on the album) and I'm big on my "official" answers. :) )

2. Besides adding SN vocals, what else (specifically) was done to SYHA (SYW track/mix) from the version of SYHA that was on the "Best Buy Tour '97" CD? (Once again, I can go "by hear" but I'd like to see how he describes it)

A BIG thanks Livia! :)

Wow Livia---
That is so cool! I agree with Wldhrt. I would love to know what are some of the surprise songs we'll get to hear on the tour? (e.g. any Tusk songs, "Seven Wonders", any Buckingham Nicks songs)

Congrats again!:D

Please tell him thanks for me for an AWESOME album-and that I love it!

This is something I have always wanted to know: How does he get that bell-like sound in the very beginning of You and I Part I? Is it guitar or synthesizer or keyboard or what?

I, too, would be interested if the rest of the songs from GOS will ever see an album...of course, I guess we are not supposed to know about those but I guess Linds might as well know they leaked out and all the fans have them-LOL! - we love him so much we just can't resist getting hold of anything he writes...

I, too, hope to see you at the DC show-I'll be there=:-)

Congratulations! Um, let's see. Boy, you think of all the things you'd like know about the man, but then when the opportunity actually arises to ask him you just sorta go blank!

How about --

Ask him who the kids are on "Say You Will"
Ask him what "Red Rover" is about
Ask him how his family likes the new album
Ask him if John is ever going to talk again ;)
Ask him if they have actually actively discussed doing another Mac album after this
Ask him what his favorite songs are on the album of his and of Stevie's

Oh, and tell him they should be proud. :)

Hi Livia,

Please ask Lindsey the following:

Will you do many songs this tour from Tusk and Buckingham Nicks? Can we expect Sara finally again and Frozen Love? Will the tour be extended to Europe (i.e. Holland?) It´s been 23 years since they were here for the last time in the Netherlands with Lindsey in the band.

As you know I´m a big lover of the songs Fireflies and The Farmer´s Daughter. Why were these left off the Very Best Of FM album and will they be performed live again or in the case of Fireflies for the first time ever?

What bonus and/or alternate tracks can we look forward to with the June 24 release of the expanded remastered editions of Fleetwood Mac, Rumours and Tusk?

Can we expect the other songs recorded for this album as bonus tracks on cd-singles?

When will the remastered and expanded Buckingham Nicks album finally appear?

Have they actually decided yet to record a follow-up to the current Say You Will album?

Would Lindsey be willing to produce Stevie´s next solo album?

When will the DVD appear of the making of Say You Will and are there plans for a similar retrospective of the Tusk tour?

I hope he will answer some or all of these questions. Let me know the results please!

Greetz,

Marcel.

Is he ever going to release his solo album?

On the tour, will they add some different songs in the mix, like Sisters of the Moon, Storms, Second Hand News etc. just to mix it up a bit?

And how many new songs will be added?

Oh, you just might get him to give you the set list! (LOL)

I don't think you should be worried about "bringing him down."

I think you have the RIGHT -- and actually, the OBLIGATION -- to let him know about some of the scams that are being conducted in his and the rest of the band's name.

I know that many long-time fans are swearing that they will not buy the new album, nor attend any of the shows, because of their treatment by the "official" website people (i.e. Jonathan Todd and co.) I've also heard rumors (sorry, no pun intended) that some cheated fan club members are trying to get the California Attorney General to investigate the issue. If the Atty General finds probable cause, there could be a lawsuit headed the band's way.

In addition to that, extensive plagiarism is being conducted -- again, in the band's name -- by the keepers of the "official" website. This could lead to yet another lawsuit, if Marty ever decides that he's had enough of being raided for content, that is.

(Quick -- what do Iraqi museums and The Penguin website have in common? Both are being looted (with no end in sight) by unscrupulous, morally-depraved people while the people who might be able to stop the whole mess stand by with their thumbs up their butts. Sorry, but it's true. Maybe LB, SN, and McVie don't carry M-16s, but they DO have the power to stop the looting that is being perpetrated by their minions.)

I know that if I had LB's "multi-millionaire level" of financial assets, I'd be very concerned and grateful to be informed about potential lawsuits headed my way. But hey, lucky for me, my personal assets amount to a 10-year-old pickup truck, a mountain bike, a cheap acoustic guitar, a beat-up sofa, and two cats, so my liability exposure is zilch!

Tell him about this stuff off-the-air if you choose, but please, DO TELL HIM! If not for yourself or for him, for the rest of us who'll never have the chance to talk with him.

1) What does MSCAE stand for in the song Murrow?

2) Are they still planning to come to the U.K. and the rest of the world?

3) What percentage of songs on their setlist are SYW songs?

4) Are we any closer to getting Buckingham Nicks on CD?

5) Just edited this question in: Does he know about The Ledge????????????;)

Ok, I could write another 10000000 questions, but I'll leave it at that! It would be SO cool if any of those actually got answered! Thanks a lot for doing this Livia!:)

One thing that I think si really important.

I am, and I think others are kind of getting sick of hearing the same stuff about the Mac. Like this being the first album with Lindsey in 17 years blah blah etc etc.

I just hope you can help get some of these great questions out there atleast. I think it is important for fans like us, who have stayed true.

*Sigh*....lucky girl you.....you have to promise to fill me and everyone else in after this takes place....i'll be in class at that time (most unfortunately).

This is something i've actually thought about as i'm sure we all have...
In purchasing the limited edition version of Say You Will, I had the opportunity to watch the making of the album and of course, saw the incredible chemistry you have with Stevie in the studio. Do you see the two of you always being in each others lives in one way or another? Do you think you will both ever come to terms with everything that's happened between the two of you?

Another possible question.....
In a recent interview in US Weekly, Stevie was asked whether or not it's strange sharing a stage with you, her ex. Stevie replied "Sometimes he takes me back to 1971 - he's still thin and pretty gorgeous. Often, I think we live in a parallel universe, where we're not sure if it is 1973 or 2003." Do you feel the same way as well?

I would actually want to know if he knows just how many fans he has that were anxiously awaiting his solo album and how happy we all are with this album and the obvious effort he put forth. Also, has he heard of The Ledge and has he ever "browsed" our forums....we gals can get a lil' naughty...lol....those are my questions!!

GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW!!!

In sum, these are the best questions I've read I'd like you have Lindsey asked:

1 - What is Red Rover about, and the MSCAE in Murrow?

2 - he seems to be at place of balance in his music and life - does he think the time is ripe for him to finally start putting out material with less eons between releases?

3 - Tell him that if they don't come over here to the UK and Australia this tour, we won't be helping them in any more pre-emptive stikes!;)

Asking what his favourite song is would be great to know, but you know what answer you're going to get: "They're all my babies" or "I like each song for its own genre" ... So let's not watse the precious question-answering opportunitues on that one! I like the sentiment of asking a question about him rather than a selfish fan question, but I think asking intelligent questions about Red Rover/Murrow will give him even more satisfaction.

And let's not go to the "Stevie as ex-girlfiend" line because let's face it - the man is happily married and has family - he's not going to be the one to say "Yeah I still think she's got it, if you know what I mean nudge nudge wink wink say no more"

Livia - in the end ask what you think is appropriate and don't worry about feeling you're carrying the weight of all of us fans - the important thing is you really enjoy the occassion and make the most of it. :wavey:

Okay, I'm gonna head for the radio station in less than an hour!! Don't forget to listen online at 11 AM central time! It's KGSR.com, then click on the listen button in the upper right-hand corner. I'm compiling a list of the top burning questions and hopefully get some/most of them answered! My own question, which I'm surprised no one's brought up yet, is "Does LB think that the advent of new technology for the consumer (i.e., DVD audio's swirling surround sound) has already, or will in future, have an affect on how albums are recorded?"

Aaaah! I'm already getting nervous! Like I said, I'm not expecting to be on the air myself, but hopefully I'll get to talk to him on the phone before and/or after the on-air stuff.

LOL! The 40's is very cold when you come from a more tropical climate. I'm a Florida girl, and I thought it was way too cold when I lived in Virginia. Isn't it also very windy in the Plaza? Oh, I hope they have a canopy or something (if it rains), but I doubt that they'll do that just for them. I don't think they've done that before.

And my hands are still shaking! I am so freaked out I can barely type...yes, I got to talk to him, BRIEFLY, after the interview...

Well, first of all, they started an hour late - not really sure why at first, we thought they had their time zones mixed up. They FINALLY called the "hotline," which is actually a red phone, and just said they were running late and asked if we were already on the air. Byran told them that the current song playing was about to end, they asked how much time we needed, Bryan said 5 minutes, they said, "Okay, 'cause that's all we can give you, anyway." It was VERY fast!

Bryan already had his own list of questions, and being that it is HIS show, afterall, I couldn't exactly force him to ask mine. However, I did give him a list of the "top 10" from the Ledge. He liked the new technology question, so that was the only one he asked on the air.

Damn, if LB could just have given SHORTER answers, we would have had time to ask more questions!

I'm gonna jump around here a bit and skip to the end. I asked LB, off the air, what Red Rover is about. This is gonna blow your minds! He said that he imagined a set of Greek Gods looking down on earth, on the human race, watching us be self-destructive and wondering what we were going to do next. And should the Gods pull the plug on the human race? It was wild! I'm sorry I don't remember verbatim, I was jotting down notes as fast as I could while he was talking, but that was basically it.

Let me get caught up here at work for a second and eat my lunch and I'll post more.

Christy, your enthusiasm is cracking me up, girl!

Okay, as soon as the interview ended and they played Peacekeeper, Bryan asked if LB could spare (me a little) a couple more minutes to talk to a fan who was in the studio. He said okay, but it had to be quick. I said hello, that I loved the album and they should all be very proud of it, and pleeeease don't make us wait another 16 years for more new material. He laughed and said, "We won't, I promise." I asked him if he gets online much and is he aware of the various Mac sites and message boards? He said no and that he doesn't really know much about them. I said, "Well, on behalf of my friends online, I just have a couple quick questions about some of your songs, what's Red Rover about?" He answered (see above), and then when I started to ask about MSCAE in Murrow, I said, "And another quick question (he interrupted, "Okay, but it really has to be quick")...about Murrow.." and he interrupted me AGAIN and went into a 30-second explanation about the song and when he finally finished, I got the MSCAE blurb in there, and he answered that. He said he had to go, and was looking forward to the tour. I said thanks and good-bye and that was it!

Oh yeah, they gave me a cool, cobalt blue coffee mug that says "The Year of Fleetwood Mac" on it too!

I just thought of another question..LMAO!! Are those KIDS or VSO in SYW? LOL Maybe SOME moronic interviewer with some hint of a brain out there will ask him that soon. Yeah right, we're always gonna get "So, you and Stevie are friends? Are you sure about that?" UGH!!!

What Bryan was trying to ask him, when he mentioned the tour running from May-July, and what's next, was supposed to be about the 2nd leg/world tour, but LB talked about doing another album instead. So, although he didn't really answer Bryan's question, he answered one of "our" questions. ;)

Wow, good for you.

Anyway, Lindsey mentioned the Greek God's thing in Guitar World Acoustic, but it was a response from a question about "Somebody's Gotta Change Your Mind."

Man, I think I am looking at this song in a new light.

I'm pretty confused - like BlueGrass says, Lindsey used the 'concerned pantheon' explanation for Someones Gotta Change Your Mind - maybe it's a stock answer for him when he's running out of time?? Alternatively, perhaps it's a bit difficult for him to discuss how it is about his father/mother/brother/whatever so he just gives the broader intepretation.

We'll get it out of him somehow!!

Can someone just clarify what 'free accosciation' means or implies? How is MSNBC a 'free association'? Do you just mean a media corporation?

Livia thanks so much - I was thinking about you and I just don't know HOW you did it - there's no way I could speak to Lindsey, without coming off completely like when kramer meets Fred Savage!! "Hey sorry did I scare you? Im not crazy, I know I may look crazy but I'm not, I'm usually really cool, just a regular guy trying to make it in this business! (loud hyperventilation)":distress:

thanks Livia for the heads-up on the interview, it was great to hear it online. Knowing you were there in the studio and other Ledgies were listening like me made me feel like real part of the Ledgie community!!!

Congrats to you that you got to talk to Lindsey yourself, what a great thrill for a Ledgie!!! You spoke for all of us!!

It was fun even tho we waited for almost an hour but the station actually plays cool music. I now have added it to my radio list in my Media Player.

When I first heard Red Rover, it made me feel wierd.... LOL! But now knowing what Lindsey was getting across in that song, it makes me think about the end of the world, and it's kinda creepy, in a good way. That is my current 2nd fav on the album. It is a completely awesome song.

hehe When my hubby heard it, he was like, "what the hell is that??" LOL.... He just don't get it sometimes. Now I can tell him, "Dammit, Jason, it's about the Greek Gods who are going to pull the plug, don't you get it??" LOL...

I'm still so damn excited over this whole album!

That is so wonderful Livia! And you are really cool for sharing the whole thing with the fans here! We'd be guessing at a few of these lyrics for years! LOL!
