I just saw this on Burnish.net :
Fleetwood Mac returns ready to serve up old, new
Howard Cohen
Backstage Pass
Fleetwood Mac is back.
The group, armed with the upcoming Say You Will, easily its best studio album in 24 years, brings its tour to Sunrise's Office Depot Center June 7.
The lineup includes singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, singer Stevie Nicks, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie. Expect a 2 ½-hour concert and some surprises. Since singer-keyboardist Christine McVie is gone, most of her songs will be retired. 'The songs we'll do of Chris' will be the ones we shared,'' Nicks says, suggesting Don't Stop, Tusk and You Make Loving Fun might make the set.
In addition to the new single, Peacekeeper, expect some older songs to make their first live appearance. ''I think we're going to do a version of Beautiful Child,'' Nicks says, referring to a 1979 ballad found on the Tusk LP. ``It's just the saddest song you have ever heard. It's working out, and I think it'll make the set. We're going back into our trunk of gazillions of songs and picking a few dark-horse Fleetwood Mac songs. We'll still do Rhiannon and Gold Dust Woman and Go Your Own Way and Monday Morning. The songs everyone will want to hear will be there.''
With some notable changes. ''One thing we can't do is open with The Chain again,'' Buckingham says, laughing.
Tickets for Fleetwood Mac are $126.50, $76.50 and $49.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

You know I never realised they'd have a problem singing the Chain - but it makes sense now I think of it!
Rhiannon returns AGAIN?? Sans Chris' harmonies and keyboard?? Didn't Stevie see our poll :D

This may well be my fave Stevie song! What I really love about it, is that it features imo, the greatest Lindsey/Stevie harmony ever... The lines "I bite my lip, can you send me away" and "Your hands held mine... So few hours" send a shiver every time.
The fact those two sound so beautiful on a song that I think is about her relationship with Mick makes it even more fascinating.
I think they should close with The Chain - it's what's keeping them together afterall :)
Anyone think they should do some kind of Tusk medley?
DownOnRodeo
04-04-2003, 09:43 AM
Yes Gazza! A medley is what I was thinking the 'something different' in the middle of the show might be. It would be so good because you get more songs crammed together, rather than the endless trailing off of fewer songs. I don't know if that's what you meant by medley but that's my wish - a whole bunch played in quick succession!
I wonder if they're not doing Hold Me becaase the chorus has that same ascending structure as Say You Will. Just a thought

When I heard the "Something different" my immediate thought was a Tusk Medley.
Save Me A Place into the Ledge (fans go wild)... "Don't Make Me Wait"... Not That Funny.... I Know I'm Not Wrong... That's Enough For Me... Tusk!
However they'd do it, it would be a highlight I'm sure.
that they would consider "BC"....i never expected that!!! it's a great thing...i really hope they're thinking of including "sara"!!!
keep our fingers crossed!!!!

Oh - I liked "The Chain" as the opening song . . . :(
Wow - some dark-horse songs - can't wait to see what they are. I would totally love "Beautiful Child" and "Sara".

He didn't say they were not going to play the Chain, he just said they are not going to open with it.
Beautiful Child is probably my favorite Stevie Nicks penned song.

Beautiful child..... OMG!!!!
I think The Chain would be great to close with. I see a great FM tribute band and they always do an encore of Tusk and The Chain and it works excellently

Great, Beautiful Child live for the first time! Now how about also including the rest of Stevie´s Tusk songs and the criminally overlooked Fireflies?? My god if they would perform all of those I´m sure this tour has the capability of outclassing every other tour they did, except maybe for the Tusk tour of course!
I would really love for them to release every concert of this tour on cd like Pearl Jam did in 2000. Also I would definitely want to have either a DVD-Audio and/or a regular (maybe double) DVD of one or two uncut Tusk tour concerts with the inclusion of Fireflies, One More Night and The Farmer´s Daughter of course! Kind of like the one Led Zeppelin will be releasing late May. This way they can expand the Fleetwood Mac Live album when that is up for remastering. I´m wondering if you´re with me on this suggestion! Let me know.

Cool, since you know what I want to hear, then I'm looking forward to hell freezing over and hearing LB & SN rip through some stuff from "Penguin", MTM, HAHTF & "Time". Just kidding, I couldn't resist. :) I was going to list the albums that "semi exist" (BTM & KH-BT) but I thought to make this point I'd stick to the indisputably ignored ones (and yes Mick pitches a tent over the PG stuff too but no point listing that as BN will decide what to play and MF will agree to whatever they want).
Seriously though, it'll be good to hear BC live. I mean, I won't be going to a show but assuming there's a live CD and/or DVD from this tour then hopefully I'll hear it there. :)

Lindsey mentioned not opening with The Chain but doesn't mean it won't be done. I think that in the late 70's I have a couple of audio tapes and that song came towards the end of the show so it may be that way again. Though I will miss Christine's keyboards and vocals on this tune, remember that Stevie and Lindsey both did this song at some point on their solo tours.
Beautiful Child will be so nice to hear as well as Monday Morning:]

How about Frozen Love? Not only was that the song that got LB and SN "discovered," but they used to perform it live, why not now?

They will open with Peacekeeper, then go into The Chain. Or The Chain will be towards the end or the last song played.

OK,
That totally caused me to almost have a heart attack! I never saw that one coming. What an amazing surprise. All of the Tusk songs are my favorite Stevie songs ever! This is awesome! I never thought I would hear that song live!
I am reading this at work. I work at a campus library. Thank God there is no one in here right now (since we're about to close) because I totally just let out a huge yell and even got teary eyed! My boss came out of the office to see what happened...LOL!!!
When I showed her, she laughed...she knows how much I love the Mac!
Thanks for posting this incredible news!

Ah now come on Christy!! How can a concert a Fleetwood Mac concert at the American Airlines Center be complete without TUSK!!!:D
I agree about the other two though....especially DS:rolleyes:....lol!!;)
:wavey: :wavey: :wavey:
You Make Loving Fun?? I hope this was just a mis quote or a senior moment. YMLF is a Christine song. I also could do with out Don't Stop. That was a Buckingham/Mcvie song. I think its totaly ok to retire all of Ms. Mcvie's song unless she shows up in concert to perform them. There is PLENTY of other "classics" to choose from.

This statement makes me about as excited as I've ever been about the tour. I'm so glad that they realize there are tons of treasures out there that would work incredibly well live. I still don't think they'll mix the set up from night to night - although I think they really should, especially when they are performing in the same cities twice. But this is an excellent start to rejuvinating the setlist.
And - although I think Beautiful Child is going to be amazing live and I almost fell out of my chair when I read about it - I'm equally excited about Monday Morning being back in the set. That is pure FM rock and it would be an excellent opening song.
So...from various rumors, articles, and posts over the past few months, I've read that they'll possibly be doing the following songs on this tour:
Dreams, Go Your Own Way, Gold Dust Woman, Rhiannon, Peacekeeper, Sara, Tusk, Beautiful Child, Hold Me, Say You Will, Landslide, Silver Springs, You Make Loving Fun (but how can they do this without Chris?), and Don't Stop.
Throw in a few more new tracks - I'm rooting for Destiny Rules, Everybody Finds Out (maybe), Steal Your Heart Away, Murrow, and Red Rover, at least - and a few more obsure songs - Long Distance Winner, Frozen Love, That's All For Everyone, Storms - and we've got a great setlist. I'm very, very excited now that they're willing to try some new things.

TUSK!!! LOL Out of all three of those...Tusk is the one I can live with...it's the other two I'm not excited about. BUT, I'd rather he do some OTHER Tusk song...like TAFE, TEFM or WMYTYTO!!!

Although Lindsey said they can't OPEN with The Chain, I think he obviously meant they're not doing The Chain since The Chain is about keeping the five together (even though they HAVE done it without Lindsey and even solo a few times). I mean, if they DO The Chain, what reason is there that they can't OPEN with it? I really think they might be doing away with this one, which is sad because it's such a rocker. Honestly, I can't believe they are choosing Beautiful Child as one of the "dark horses" to do live. I just thought the song was gone and forgotten. I've never really gotten into this song, but it looks like I better start listening to it more! This news is just so reassuring that it won't be an alpha-Mac setlist.

WOOOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!!!!!
How funny, I was just reading this over at Nicksfix (the article is from MiamiHerald.com), not realizing that this is what this thread was about.
How awesome! I am so ready to hear Beautiful Child and all the other goodies they've pulled out of that full full trunk of theirs!
Let me tell ya, I was getting so bummed there for a while, with the whole fan club blah blah blah and the crap at Mick's Chat board (I haven't been there in like 2 weeks now by the way! LOL), but I come back here and I'm enjoying all of this more now, and we just keep getting better and better news every single day!! I'm so excited again!!!!!!!!!!!!! :blob1: :blob2: :blob1: :blob2: :woohoo:   BRING ON THE SHOWS!!!!!!!!!

Agh! I must have missed that the first time I read it....I'm gonna be REALLY annoyed if they don't do The Chain...I don't care at all if they don't open with it...just want them to do it at some point during the evening! I HAVE to hear that bassline live!!! Since the first time it was performed live (1976/7?), has there ever been ANY Fleetwood Mac (of any form) concert in which it wasn't performed??? I highly doubt it...!

While I would gladly give up The Chain for "Walk a Thin Line" or Sara, I do think they should do it as it is sort of John's solo and his time to shine somewhat. :D

I think I would love to see the Chain exit the set list for another song like Save Me a Place or I Know I'm Not Wrong or Angel
or Sister of the Moon.
Can you tell I am in a Tusk frame of mind;)
